Summer Programs

College for Kids
Dates Two weeks in June 8:30 – 11:30 AM.  Students may register for one, two or three 55 minute courses
Purpose / Description Enrichment activities not provided during the typical school day.
Qualifications Students in grades 1-7 Invitations based on ITBS scores and/or teacher recommendation
Cost Tuition is based on the number of courses student registers for, but is approximately $50 per course. Scholarships are available.

Extended School Year (ESY)
Dates Individual arrangements
Purpose / Description Helps student maintain specific skills throughout the summer.
Qualifications IEP team determines if student meets guidelines. Based on:

  1. Goal area of significant concern
  2. Regression
  3. Rare and unusual circumstances

Purpose / Description Provide small group activities to help students transition successfully to MHS.
Qualifications Incoming 9th graders recommended by teachers

Sixth Grade Transition
Dates 2-3 half-day sessions

Purpose / Description Provide small group activities to help students transition successfully to middle school.
Qualifications Incoming 6th graders recommended by 5th grade teachers

Summer Academy (Pre-kindergarten)

Half-day program
Typically 4-6 weeks at same time and location as Elementary Summer Academy
Purpose / Description Focus on pre-academic and readiness skills so students are prepared for the first day of kindergarten

Accelerated Learning Center (ALC)

Purpose / Description Computer based instruction with teacher assistance and support. Students earn credits toward graduation, whether for credit recovery, course substitution or early graduation.
