Today is a Purple Day

Wednesday will be a Gold Day

 

Today school will be let out at 1:25.  Wednesday February 6th there will be a 2 hour late start.  Our doors will open at 9:30 AM. A light breakfast will be served.

 

⅖, Tuesday – There will NOT be horse judging today after school due to possible bad weather.

 

The Battle of the Books will start Friday! If you are interested in participating, please sign up for Battle of the Books for homeroom on Friday. If you are unable to attend, please let Mrs. Schlawin know that you are interested. Friday we will form teams, reveal the book list, and check out books to start reading! The Battle of the Books will be held in April.

 

Any 7th or 8th grade student interested in swim team this year – Swim practice will start Friday, February 1,  at 6:15. MHS doors will open at 6:00. Swimmers will be bused to Central after practice. Please be sure you have signed athletic physical, insurance waiver, and concussion form, which are required before you are allowed to practice. More information will be handed out at practice.

 

The Winter Box Tops Challenge has begun and will end on February 28.  Help your grade level win the challenge by bringing your Box Tops to your ELA teacher before the end of February.

 

Google Art Contest – This year’s Doodle for Google contest theme is “When I grow up, I hope…” and invites students to draw upon their dreams and imagine the ways the world can be better. Food for Everyone? Shoes that can fly? A pill that cures anything? An Earth-cooling fan? It’s up to you to decide how you will interpret the theme. The contest opened January 7 and goes through March 18, 2019. 53 students will be named winners from their state. Five finalists will be flown to Google’s Mountain View headquarters, and one winning student from among the five will receive:

A $30,000 college scholarship

A $50,000 Google for Education technology package for their school

Your artwork will be placed on the Google homepage for a day

The remaining four finalists will win a $5,000 college scholarship

Parents:

 

Doors open at Central Middle School at 7:30 am. Students who elect to come between 7:30 and 7:50 will be required to go to the cafeteria and are asked to be seated quietly and remain in the cafeteria until 7:50 am.  At that time, they may use the gym or cafeteria. Breakfast will also be served starting at 7:30 am. In case of a 2 hour delay, the doors will open at 9:30.

 

Lifetouch will be taking Spring Pictures on Tuesday February 12th.

Flyers will be sent out the week of February 4th.

We have a few extra yearbooks from last year if anyone is interested.  They are $16.

 

From the Athletic Department~ In order for your 7th/8th grade student to participate in a sport, 3 forms will need to be turned in to the Central Middle School Athletic Department/Attendance Office:

1) Central Middle School Athletic Form ~ signed by parent/guardian and student athlete, good for the school year participating

2) Concussion Form ~ signed by parent/guardian and student athlete, good for the school year participating

3) Iowa Athletic Pre-Participation Physical Examination form ~ signed my medical licensed professional and parent/guardian, good for 13 months from the date of physical.  These can be found online on the Central Middle School site under Activities & Athletics or can be picked up at CMS.
