Prom: May 4 @ Merrill Hotel 8-11pm (Tickets will go on sale April 15th -$20 per ticket)
CAPE: May 4 starting at 11:30pm @ MHS until May 5 @3:30am (FREE but ticket is needed for entry. Stop in AP Office, Rm 12-001 to pick up a form. Forms due by April 24 .)
Seniors Last Day: May 23
MHS Graduation: May 26 @ 2pm in the MHS Gymnasium (No Ticket Required)

  • Congratulations to Dalton Sell on becoming a HS Wrestling All-American! Dalton placed 7th at the USA Wrestling Nationals this past weekend!
  • JV Boys’ Soccer double header tonight, April 1, at 5pm vs. North Scott at the Muscatine Soccer Complex.
  • April Fools Faculty Recital will be held tonight at 7pm in the Auditorium. This is a semi-formal faculty recital that occurs “annually” on April Fools Day and it is FREE!
  • Sophomores should report the the auditorium during enrichment on Tuesday, April 2nd.
  • Sophomores & Juniors – Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math (STEAM) Career Fair: Sign up to attend one STEAM Career Fair session in the Commons (Period 1, Period 2, or Period 3) on April 12 in Adaptive Scheduler under Maureen Beran. There is a limit of 100 students per session. Sign up in adaptive scheduler ends April 5th. STEAM Career Fair Info
  • New Silver Cord Opportunity: See Silver Cord section below.
  • IHSBA Voting: Thanks to everyone who voted for the Iowa High School Book Award books – the two winners for Muscatine High School were: P.S. I like you by Kasie West and Zeroes by Scott Westerfeld. The state winner will be announced following the IASL Conference on April 6th.
  • Mr. Armstrong’s 1st, 3rd, and 4th hour freshmen classes will report to room 12-018 on Tuesday, April 2, the end of the second hallway in the science wing.
  • Muscatine-Japan Youth Exchange Program Fundraiser will be held on April 2nd from 5-10pm at The Missipi Brewing Co. (107 Iowa Ave.). A portion of all proceeds will go to MJYEP. Bake sale items will also be available to purchase.  MJYEP Fundraiser Flyer

    Spectators should bring lawn chairs as seating is VERY limited on Field A and B and non existent on Field C.
  • JUNIORS & SENIORS: Prom/Cape Guest Forms are available to be picked up in the AP office (12-001). Any student from another school, or a previous graduate under the age of 21, attending as a GUEST will need to complete a guest form. Current students must be a JUNIOR or a SENIOR in good standing. This form must be returned to the MHS Assistant Principals’ office by the end of the day on April 24, 2019. NO FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER APRIL 24, 2019.
  • Muscatine Wrestling Spring Open Mat Workouts! Available for all Muscatine high school and middle school students!
    Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs 4:00-5:00 pm, Fridays 6:00-7:00 am in the MHS Wrestling Room.
    Join any time.
  • Muskie Locker Requests: Students, if you need supplies from the Muskie Locker and do not have time to stop by, you can go to Student Services/Guidance and fill out a form listing the supplies that you need.  The Muskie Locker will then bag these supplies and have them ready for you to pick up in the guidance/student services office at the end of the day or by the next day.
  • Key Club Blood Drive: Any MHS students or staff members interested in donating blood for the Micaela Brunson Memorial Blood Drive (hosted by Key Club) on Friday, April 12th need to sign‐up with a Key Club member or email Mrs. Keltner at jen.keltner@mcsdonline.org. Walk‐ins will NOT be taken for this blood drive ‐‐ all donors need to have a scheduled time between 8:00am-12:00pm.
  • Seniors: if you have earned the Gallon Grad blood donation award (now called the IMPACT Award) by donating 8 times or are close (donated 6-7 times), email or stop into see Mrs. Keltner sometime in the next couple weeks. She needs to make sure your name is on the award list!
  • Juniors & Seniors:NEW DRESSES & SHOES ADDED!FREE PROM attire — dresses, suit jackets, pants, shirts and shoes outside the Main Office – Rm 11-001. Check them out before school, during lunch or after school. Various sizes and styles. See Mrs. Borde with any questions.
  • The Muscatine Civic Chorale presents “Misa a Buenos Aires” by Martin Palmeri at 7:00 pm, Thursday, April 4 at Ss. Mary and Mathias Catholic Church, 215 West 8th Street, Muscatine. The performance features bandoneon virtuoso Richard Scofano. The concert is free and open to the public. Members of the Chorale and instrumentalists include MCSD staff members Annette Hovland, Deb Paulsen, Jon Thoma and Gail Pusateri as well as MHS graduate Nathan Paulsen.

  • LOOKING FOR ALL PAST GRANT ELEMENTARY STUDENTS!!  If you attended Grant, we would like your help! Please video yourself giving a nice message to a Grant teacher.  You may say things such as “you are my favorite teacher because…” or “I appreciated when you…”, “Thank you for…” or whatever else you can come up with.  Email your short 15-30 second video clip to mackenzie.strouf@mcsdonline.org
  • Seniors/Parents: College funding random drawing giveaway for $1,000.

  • Soccer Work Day is April 28th.  If you would like to hire 2 soccer players for 2 hours for $60 to do yard work, etc., please contact Dana Kraft at danacti@yahoo.com

  • Port Louisa National Wildlife Refuge Summer Job Opportunities – Youth Conservation Corps. Applications available in Student Services. Youth Conservation Corps. Info
  • Seniors who had Economics with Mrs. Tometich or Mrs Spencer. Mrs. Tometich has the forms to fill out for the EverFi Financial Literacy Program. Please stop by room 23-007 to pick up forms and confirm eligibility. This is a $500 scholarship and you will need to fill out an application and submit it to First National Bank by April 13th.
  • Lost & Found is located at the MHS Attendance Center. If you have lost an item, please inquire at the Attendance Center.
  • Muskie Store is Open! The district has partnered with Phelps Custom Apparel to offer our staff, families, and community Muskie Apparel! This online store does not close meaning that it remains open for all of your Muskie clothing needs throughout the year.

  • Student Parking Tags: In order to park on school grounds at MHS, it is required that you purchase and display a parking tag. Parking tags may be purchased at the Attendance Office after presenting a completed “MHS Vehicle Registration” form. The cost is $25.00.  Failure to purchase and display a parking tag will result in a $5 fine for each offense.

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • Muscatine Heart Study located in the old Muscatine Hotel is looking for students to earn silver cord hours by helping them with their office work.  Hours are flexible as they are open 10am-8pm Monday-Thursday. Contact 264-3886 for more information or to set up a time to work.
  • Jefferson Elementary is looking for volunteers to work the Jefferson Carnival on Friday, April 12 from 430-7. Each volunteer will get a voucher for a piece of pizza and pop. If you are interested in helping out please email Sarah Manjoine at sarah.manjoine@mcsdonline.org.
  • McKinley Spring Carnival: The Annual McKinley Carnival is right around the corner (April 6) and we are in need of volunteers to help run games and do Face Painting at the event.  Most games require 2-3 volunteers, so recruit a friend and join us for a good time.  You can sign up at this link or call McKinley Elementary at 263-9049!
  • Madison elementary is looking for MHS student volunteers who love STEM to help facilitate a small group of STEM activities in our gym.  The date is April 9th from 5-7pm. Please email stephanie.zillig@mcsdonline.org if interested.
  • Meals on Wheels Volunteers Needed: Deliver Meals for Seniors Saturdays & holidays. Meals are picked up at Trinity. It takes about an hour to deliver a route. A route consists of delivering 8- 10 meals. Training is provided by riding along with current volunteers to learn route. A valid driver’s license (or a licensed driver to transport you) is required. Please contact Shannon Abel at Senior Resources today at (563) 263-7292 if interested.
  • Food Service is looking for MHS students to help other students with breakfast cards & getting through the serving lines at elementary schools. Especially, Jefferson, McKinley, Franklin & Madison! Please contact Alisha Eggers at 563-263-7223 or alisha.eggers@mcsdonline.org
