  • McDonalds Photo Contest Reveal Party, Wednesday, May 9th at 6 pm – Muscatine McDonalds – 2520 Park Ave. Over the last month, Muscatine High School students have submitted photos to us that portray the city of Muscatine. The winners will receive a cash prize and their photos will be displayed in the restaurant. The winning photos will be revealed, the prizes will be given out to the winners and cupcakes will be served. We really would love for the school and community to support the students great photos that will be displayed in our restaurant for everyone to see!  McDonalds Photo Contest Reveal Party
  • TODAY– Key Club Rose Sale: Celebrate Spring! Key Club will be selling individual roses outside of Student Services on Wednesday, April 25th (one day only – don’t miss out!). Roses are $2 each or three for $5. All proceeds go to fund Key Club and Kiwanis community events.
  • TODAYYouth Job Fair in the MHS Commons on Wednesday, April 25 from 4-6 pm.  35 businesses will be on-site. You will be able to ask questions and fill out job applications for summer employment.
  • TONIGHTSenior Girls Sports Banquet: The Y’s Senior Female Athletic Recognition Banquet will be held on Wednesday, April 25th , 6:30 p.m. at the Wesley Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Contact Mel Steckel at the Y with any questions at 563-263-9996 or msteckel@muscatiney.org
  • The City of Muscatine Public Works is seeking a candidate for a Civil Engineering Tech Intern for the summer. The hours will be approx 8-5 most days, maybe some Saturdays if there is a big project going on. A job summary and application is in Student Services. Intern would also be able to work during Thanksgiving break and Christmas break. Even if the applicant does not have all the certifications, they want you to apply anyway.
  • Clients are needed for Soccer Work Day – April 29th! Do you have yard work or other jobs that you need help with? — You can hire soccer athletes to do your work for you on Sunday, April 29th!  Three (3) hours for $60 — 2 athletes from 1:30-4:30 pm! This is the one and only fundraiser the soccer players have this year. If interested in supporting Muskie soccer players, please contact Dana Kraft at 260-5511.
  • MHS Spring Musical, CURTAINS, will be held on April 26, 27 & 28 in the MHS Auditorium.  Set in 1959, Curtains follows a Broadway-bound theatre company faced with a sudden setback when the leading lady is murdered — and everyone is a suspect. As the Boston detective works to solve the case, there are plenty of laughs and big production numbers to enjoy – featuring choreography by Muscatine’s own Benjamin Rivera!   • College Decision Day is on April 27, 2018 in the MHS Commons (RSVP)Seniors & their family are invited join the celebration to recognize their post-secondary plans. All high school seniors planning on attending a degree or certificate program or are entering the military.
    Treats will be provided.  College Decision Day Info  (Students & family only need to attend the session that pertains to their post-secondary plan.)

  • Boys’ & Girls’ Soccer Work Day is Sunday, April 29th. All soccer athletes should meet in the Commons at 12:45pm on the 29th for their work assignments. (Rain Date is May 6th.)

  • MHS Baseball: Anyone interested in playing high school baseball this summer is invited to attend tryouts beginning Monday, April 30 at 4:30pm at Tom Bruner Field.   • Kelsie Stafford from Muscatine Parks and Recreation will be at a table outside the Commons on Thursday, April 26th during lunch to talk about Summer Job Opportunities at the Soccer Complex, Kent Stein Park, Aquatic Center, or City Hall. Stop by and pick up an application!
  • Softball Players: Tryouts will take place on May 7th and 8th at Kent Stein Park-Field 4 from 3:45-5:30pm. Please sign up by May 1st using the following link: Softball Sign Up
  • MHS Students: Posted outside Student Services are the ID #’s of the students who qualify for an Academic Award and/or Perfect Attendance.  Please check the lists to see if you are on the appropriate list before April 27, 2018. If you are not on a list and feel you should be, check with
    Mrs. Edkin in Student Services for Academic Awards or Mrs. Chatfield in the Assistant Principal’s office for Perfect Attendance questions.
    Qualifications for Academic Awards this year are as follows:

    • Sophomore who has 3 consecutive semesters of 3.0 GPA and above.
    • Junior who has 5 consecutive semesters of 3.0 GPA and above.
    • Senior who has 7 consecutive semesters of 3.0 GPA and above.Students listed will be recognized at the Academic Awards Assembly on Wednesday, May 2nd @ 10:00 am in the gym.  Parents are also invited to the Awards Assembly.
  • MCSD Race for the Schools is Saturday, May 5th at MHS. One Mile timed run at 8:00, 5K at 8:30. Registration forms at all schools (PE teachers have some too) or register online at: https://secure.getmeregistered.com/RaceForTheSchools. Don’t forget the MCSD school challenge,
    be sure to list your school when you register.   • Summer Employment Opportunity: Corn Detasseling – Must be 14 years old by June 26, 2018. Workers will need to attend a safety meeting June 26th from 5:45-8:00 pm at MCC . Applications are available in the Student Services Office.

  • Wandering Words Poetry Contest: This project is a partnership with the Muscatine County Arts Council and the City of Muscatine. This activity is funded by the Muscatine County Arts Council and a grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine. All residents of Muscatine County of any age may enroll and submit up to two short poems. There is no charge for submission. All entries are reviewed by a panel in a blind judging process.   • The MHS Cheer Program would like to invite you to tryout for our 2018 Fall Season. Remaining Cheer clinics will be held April 24 & 26 from 6 pm to 8 pm in the MHS Gym. We will have tryout practices May 1 & 3rd from 6 pm to 7 pm in the MHS Gym. Tryouts are the morning of May 5th in the MHS Gym. Tryout packets are available at both middle schools and at the Attendance Center at the high school. Please come to our clinics and see what it is all about!   • Junior Tennis Tournament: The Junior Tennis Tournament is scheduled for July 14-15, 2018. The Boys will be playing at the MHS High School Courts and the Girls will be competing at the Weed Park Courts. ** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • Wesley United Methodist Church is holding a carnival on Friday, May 4 from 4-6pm for the students at Franklin Elementary. Volunteers are needed to run games. If interested, please contact Sonia Baker at soniabaker@wesleyonline.org or 563-299-8267.

  • Junior Tennis Tournament Committee is looking for volunteers on July 11th following the tournament for court cleanup from 5 pm to 7 pm. A free pizza lunch will be provided for the volunteers work on. To learn more about this tournament and the volunteer opportunities associated with it, go to www.greatrivertennis.com.
  • MCC Harry Potter Festival committee is looking for volunteers on May 19th. They will need volunteers from 9 am to 6 pm. Our plan for volunteers is to divide our festival map into quadrants and divide volunteers accordingly. Areas of assistance needed will be: Some of the things we need assistance in are: greeting people, directing people where they want to go, if necessary helping bands with their stands and equipment, and running activity booths. All of these areas will be supervised by either staff members from the class, or the instructors. If interested, please contact Kayla Leming at kaylaleming3@gmail.com. (Staff t-shirts will be provided to all volunteers!)
  • MCSD Food Service is looking for students who would be willing to volunteer at various elementary buildings to get the students through the breakfast line. Times would be 7:40-8:05 daily. Please email Alisha Eggers at alisha.eggers@mcsdonline.org if you are interested in volunteering.
