Prom and CAPE Info: Guest forms are available in the AP office (room 12-001B). If you plan to bring a guest to Prom or CAPE that is not attending MHS, you will need to have a guest form filled out and approved before you pick up tickets. All guests must be at least a Jr./Sr. or have graduated from high school, and cannot be older than 20 years of age. REMEMBER—CAPE is FREE and you can attend even if you do not go to Prom. If you have questions please see Mrs. Chatfield in the AP office.

  • State Pep Bus InformationMHS Students & Staff sign-up for the Pep Bus in the AD Office – Please meet in the Commons at 2:35 pm to load the buses. Pep Bus Permission Slip is Required!  The cost of the pep bus is $10, which includes the cost of the ticket into game ($10), transportation to and from the game, sandwich and cookie.

    • Buses taking students home will run at regular time: 3:30
    • Students taking a bus home will wait in the cafeteria until 3:30

  • Port Louisa National Wildlife Refuge (near Wapello) is currently accepting applications for our Youth Conservation Corps crew for this summer! The crew, made up of (4) 15-18 year olds, works for 8 weeks in the summer on a variety of habitat conservation, biological, and maintenance jobs. Youth Conservation Corps Info

  • Poetry Club: There will be no Poetry Club this week or next. We will resume the Thursday after Spring Break!
  • Boys’ Soccer Meeting: There will be a boys’ soccer meeting on Monday, March 5th at 3:35 pm in the Commons.
  • Photography Contest – Muscatine McDonalds: The Muscatine McDonald’s is looking for some unique photos from Muscatine High School students, to be permanently displayed on the walls of their restaurant! Each winners name will be displayed by the image for years to come. Entries due by April 1st. See flyer for more information!

  • Sophomores & Juniors: The Muscatine Rotary club is sponsoring a youth leadership program held at Grinnell College from July 15-20 for students in the class of 2019 and 2020.

    The cost of the program is covered by the Rotary club. We encourage your students to apply using the online link. A committee will review applicants and recommend them for participation.
  • Interested in scheduling a college visit? Go to the website of the college/university you are interested to schedule an individual visit. Stop in the Student Services Office and see Ms. Milani if you have any questions or would like assistance.
  • Talent Show: MHS Key Club and UNICEF Club will be hosting a Talent Show on Thursday, March 8th from 8:30-10:30am in the auditorium. Tickets need to be purchased in advance and will be sold outside of Student Services during lunch March 5th-7th for $5 each. Proceeds from the show will be donated to the United Nations Children’s Fund and March of Dimes. Students who attend the show will be excused from class.
  • MHS Disc Golf Club/Team: Meeting/practice begins on Tuesday, March 6th – 4:00-5:30pm @ MHS Campus Disc Golf Course located behind the MHS Football Field.
    We will be practicing on Tuesday’s from 4:00-5:30 pm until the end of the school year.
    NO requirement to attend every practice unless you want to compete for a spot on the TEAM. This is the 3rd year for the disc golf club. Mandatory practice for those wishing to make the Disc Golf Team that will hopefully be competing against other schools.   • Juniors – ACT Make-up Test: If you were absent for the ACT on Tuesday, Feb. 27th, make-up tests will take place on Tuesday, March 6th.  The test will be taken at MHS.  Please report to Student Services by 8:15am.

  • Boys’ Soccer Practice will start on March 12 at 3:30pm on the MHS Turf.
  • Kickball Tournament – To bring awareness to tobacco/nicotine and Kick Butts Day 2018: Wednesday, March 21, 2018 3:30-5 pm, Muscatine High School Gym. Tournament is sponsored by Fuel the Future and MHS Key Club. Sign-up by March 8th at the Attendance Center.

  • Boys’ tennis practice starts March 19 at 4:00pm at Weed Park. Be sure to have all of your paperwork filled out prior to the first practice. Check with Mrs. Watson in the Athletic Office.

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • Grant Elementary School is hosting their spring carnival on Friday, March 23rd. We are looking for volunteers to run games, hand out prizes, and more from 4:30-7:30 pm. Free dinner is provided! Please contact Jessi Freers at jessi.freers@mcsdonline.org or 263-7005 if interested.
  • Volunteers for Girl Scouts: “Want to help the at risk youth in your area? Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois is looking for volunteers! We are looking for students who want to make a difference in young girls’ lives by providing them with Girl Scout opportunities they might not otherwise have. Currently we are looking for students to help at cookie booths in Muscatine and the QC area as well as Girl Scout programs. If you are interested in hearing more or signing up to volunteer please contact the Volunteer Coordinator for your area, Amy Green, at AmyG@GirlScoutsToday.org or (563 )823-9940 x302.
  • MCC Harry Potter Festival committee is looking for volunteers on May 19th. They will need volunteers from 9 am to 6 pm. Our plan for volunteers is to divide our festival map into quadrants and divide volunteers accordingly. Areas of assistance needed will be: Some of the things we need assistance in are: greeting people, directing people where they want to go, if necessary helping bands with their stands and equipment, and running activity booths. All of these areas will be supervised by either staff members from the class, or the instructors. If interested, please contact Kayla Leming at kaylaleming3@gmail.com. (Staff t-shirts will be provided to all volunteers!)
  • Volunteer Camp Counselors Needed at ISU Extension & Outreach: Volunteers will assist a group of 3 – 5 youth during various day camps. May assist the instructor with setting up the camp or putting supplies away based on the type of camp. Orientation will be held in early March of 2018 and at that time the volunteers will have the opportunity to pick with days camps that they would like to assist at throughout spring break and summer.   • Juntos is in the process of organizing a Juntos series at the high school. We are looking for two students interested in earning Silver Cord or volunteer hours to provide child care for the following dates: February 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and March 1st from 5:30 – 8:00 pm.
    A meal will be provided. Students who are interested can email Jennifer Zamora at jennifer.zamora@mcsdonline.org
  • MCSD Food Service is looking for students who would be willing to volunteer at various elementary buildings to get the students through the breakfast line. Times would be 7:40-8:05 daily. Please email Alisha Eggers at alisha.eggers@mcsdonline.org if you are interested in volunteering.
