FFA Plant Sale at the MHS Greenhouse – May 11 & 12, May 18 & 19 – 7:30 am – 6 pm, May 6th 8-10 am   FFA Plant Sale

  • UNICEF Club will be meeting TODAY, Tuesday 5/16 in 11-006, 2nd half of lunch. We will elect officers for next year and discuss events for the fall.
  • Special SOAP meeting this week – Senior Send-Off!!! If you are a senior who attended SOAP this year (even if it’s been awhile!), come let us pray for you as you start the next chapter in your life. SOAP will meet in the Cedar Street parking lot at 7:30 pm this Thursday. Bring a blanket, some snacks, and a senior!
  • Girls’ Cross Country Meeting – There will be a meeting Monday, May 22, from 6:30-7:00 PM in the Commons for girls interested in Cross Country. Parents are encouraged to attend. Summer running, and the upcoming season will be discussed. Questions, contact Coach Armstrong.
  • New Silver Cord Opportunity – see Silver Cord section below.
  • 2017 Gatorade Player of the Year Presentation– There will be an awards ceremony and trophy presentation on TODAY, Tuesday, May 16th at 12:30 in the Auditorium in recognition of Joe Wieskamp, our 2017 Gatorade Player of the Year. All are welcome to attend!
  • Hunger Banquet – TONIGHT, May 16th 7-8:30 pm  What does Invisible Poverty Look Like? Did you know that 50% of people make less than $2000 a year? Did you know that 1 in 9 people didn’t eat breakfast this morning? If you want to know more, a Hunger Banquet will be held on May 16th from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm in the MHS Cafeteria to teach the way that poverty and hunger impact Muscatine and the rest of the world.   • Academic/Attendance Assembly Awards – If you did not get your awards from the Academic Assembly please see Mrs. Edkin in the Registrar’s Office in Student Services office to pick them up.
  • EAT AT MCDONALDS!! Tuesday, May 23rd, from 5-8pm for the German Exchange Program fundraiser. They will give us 10% of all sales during that time. DANKE SCHÖN!!
  • Yearbook Pick-up – If you ordered & paid for a yearbook and have not picked it up, please pick it up ASAP at the ATTENDANCE CENTER. 
  • Muscatine has been assigned a regional boys soccer game on May 22nd at 6:30. Muskie boys will host Dubuque Senior.
  • Sophomores and Juniors who are enrolled in Anatomy & Physiology for 2017-18, please stop in Mr. Johnson’s room 12-0006, before the end of the school year.
  • Boys’ Track Banquet – The boy’s track banquet will be held on Tuesday, May 16 @ 6:00 PM in the Commons. The banquet will be a potluck format: Freshmen – Main Dish/ Sophomores – Main Dish/ Juniors – Salad or Side/ Seniors- Dessert. Bring your own table service. Water will be provided.   • 2017-18 Class Schedules are available in PowerSchool – On the left-hand side there is a menu item ‘Next Year’s Schedule’. An email. ‘2017-18 Class Schedules’ was sent out on May 9th with instructions for questions or changes to your schedule.
  • Freshman-Juniors – All library books and materials are due by Monday, May 22nd. If you need to keep a book longer for a class assignment, please contact Mrs. Keltner.
  • Boy’s Cross Country (XC) – There will be a meeting for all boys interested in cross-country in the fall. Summer training begins this summer. Please come to an informational meeting Monday,  May 22nd in Mr. Foxen’s room 11-033 (first floor new wing) 1st part of lunch 12:00 PM. If you have questions please see Mr. Foxen.
  • Wandering Words Poetry Contest – The contest is open to all Muscatine County residents. The deadline for submissions has been extended to May 15, 2017.

  • NEEDED….hosts for students from France THIS SUMMER! Language and Friendship is still looking for host families for visiting students from France. They will be here from mid-June to mid-July. For more information, visit languageandfriendship.com/hosting/ and use group ID: AG13911. You do NOT need to speak/study French; these students are looking for an immersion experience in English and the opportunity to learn about life in the USA. This is a wonderful opportunity to make an international friend.

  • Current MHS Parents & Future MHS Parents – MHS Booster Club is looking for a few energetic & committed parents to join us for the 2017/2018 school year! Did you know that the MHS Booster Club represents and supports over 65 high school clubs, activities, and sports? We hold a meeting once a month at the high school & also help with concessions and other great school sponsored activities. It’s a great way to connect, meet new parents & get involved!   • College 4 Kids Volunteers Needed – It’s fun, easy, and earns you Silver Cord hours.  June 12-23, 2017, 8 am-12 pm daily at MHS.  If interested, please contact laurie.schroeder@mcsdonline.org
  • Summer Lunch Volunteers – United Way is looking for volunteers for the Summer Lunch Program.   • Muscatine Junior Tennis Tournament, July 14-16 needs volunteers for the following areas“Court’s Cleanup Crew”, the “Check-in Table”, “First Aid-ICE-Refreshments”, and “Photographer”.  The date of the actual clean-up of the courts would be Wednesday, July 12th.  Looking for about 8-12 people to help clean up the courts this day.  The tools to do the job I’d ask that the volunteers bring are leaf blowers, rakes, grain shovels, wheelbarrows, buckets and eye protection.  Some of these items will be supplied as well.   Pizza will be provided afterward for the volunteers!   • Pearl City Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center Spring Clean Up is looking for 4-5 volunteers on a Saturday or Sunday for 3-4 hours. Date to be set when 4-5 interested students have responded.  If interested, please contact Jeff Cooper at (239) 994-3475.
