You’ll want to be in direct line of sight as much as possible with the radio/transmitter for best results. Please remember to use current social distancing guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Our thanks to Muscatine Community School District and Muscatine Community College for this partnership!

** Daily News & Information **

  • Play ball! Softball and Baseball practices may begin June 1. Look for communications from  your softball/baseball coaches!
  • Students in Grades 9-12, who have a school band or orchestra instrument at home:
The MHS Band and Orchestra staff will be at MHS on May 26th to take in returns for school instruments that were issued for the 2019-2020 school year. That return will be next week.
Please read all of the points below to see how this is being done:

    • Returns for instruments will happen on Tuesday, May 26th from 1pm-5pm.
    • Returns will only be accepted at the band room doors (south end of the building next to the cedar street parking lot).
    • Do NOT try to enter the building from any other entrance or drop of the instrument anywhere else other than the band room.
    • Pull up on the road next to the band room and one of our directors will help you get your instrument checked in.
    • The band and orchestra directors will be seated either outside the band doors or just inside the doors. If you’d like to bring your instrument up the side walk for them, that is fine, but do NOT go into the building.
    • The band and orchestra directors will take precautions to protect themselves and you from the spread of COVID-19. Please understand we have a responsibility to keep the building clean and safe, and what we’re asking you to do here is to keep the school building safe for staff.
    • If you would like to keep your band or orchestra instrument over the summer, you must email your director ASAP. They will get you the information you need to that end.
    • Seniors MUST turn in their instruments. Any instruments not accounted for will be charged to the family for the full price for the replacement of the instrument.
    • UNIFORMS must also be turned in at this time. If you took your uniform home (in particular Orchestra students signed up for the Europe trip), you must return your uniform for summer cleaning. Families that do not return their uniform will be charged the full price for the summer cleaning fee.Thank you for your prompt attention to this. We have to get instruments in for repairs over the coming week, and want to make sure all of our gear is in fantastic shape for the 20-21 school year.
Please make sure that, even if you are busy, that someone in your household is making sure this is taken care of in the timeframe provided. Staff are being asked to minimize time spent in the building, so getting an alternate time to get this done is likely not an option.
Let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing many of you on Tuesday.
Jon Thoma – Orchestra Director, MHS  www.muskieorchestras.org
  • Current 9th, 10th, & 11th Grade Students: Calling all Key Clubbers!   Key Club Flyer
Key Club is a high school service organization. Everyone is welcome to join our club and many find it a welcoming environment where you can meet new friends and ways to participate at Muscatine High School. The MHS Key Club members participate in service to our school and community in many ways – we host blood drives, the high schools talent show,  participate in the United Way Day of Caring, volunteer with and raise money for local and national organizations. Students learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and holding elected leadership positions. Last year, our club completed over 700 hours of community service and won an achievement award from our District!
We are always looking for new members for this upcoming school year! If you are interested in learning more about Key Club, stay connected with us! We are planning a few summer/fall social events and volunteer opportunities (depending on when school administrators approve athletic/activities gatherings) and we’d love for you to join us!Stay connected with us:

  • TONIGHT! Mark Your Calendar for May 22nd for the 11th Annual VIRTUAL Giles Joslyn Memorial Stringfest hosted by Muscatine School Orchestras.
We are excited to present our 11th Annual Giles Joslyn Memorial Stringfest! This year, the format will be VERY different, with our performance being entirely online, but the spirit of Stringfest remains the same. Students and performers are hard at work preparing for this event.
Our performance will be broadcast right here on Facebook Live on Friday, May 22nd. Our concert will feature student performers from 4th grade to 12th, as well as professional musicians around the community and around the country!
There is no admission, but with one of the main missions of Stringfest being to raise funds for our students who need it most, we will be doing an online fundraising push that weekend. That fundraiser will kick-off at the beginning of Stringfest at 7pm on the 22nd, and conclude 48 hours later at 7pm on the 24th. We will have Venmo set up for people to donate that are willing and able. With this being the 11th Annual performance, we have a goal to raise $1,100! That Venmo information will be posted for everyone to donate on the 22nd. So please, mark your calendars and join us from the comfort of your own homes on the 22nd! We are so happy to be a part of this wonderful, supportive community, and look forward to performing for you all!
