  • Congratulations Go Out to the Speech & Debate Team! Another successful tournament for MHS! The team traveled to Des Moines Roosevelt this weekend. Gabe Dipple took 1st in Humorous Interpretation (Interp), Kevin Aguilar & Ngonyo Mungara took 1st in Duo Interp, Jeremiah Daniels took 3rd in Program Oral Interp, Maddie Anderson took 6th in Original Oratory and Dalton Belokopitovs took 5th in Informative! Out of 50 competitors, Madi, Dalton, Gabe, and Jeremiah all made final rounds. All 3rd place and higher winners received spots in the tournament of champions at the University of Kentucky! It is a huge honor to attend this tournament and is one step down from nationals in prestige! Way to go Muskies!
  • MHS Parent/Teacher Walk-in Conferences tonight from 4:00 – 7:15 pm.
  • Pick-up Your Lifetouch Pictures Today!  Lifetouch pictures and proofs are in Student Services to be picked up before school, in between classes and during the lunch hour.
  • MHS Volleyball will continue their Regional play at Pleasant Valley High School on Tuesday, Oct. 24 at 7 pm.   All Muskie fans planning to attend the Volleyball game at Pleasant Valley next Tuesday, please park in the West lot or the new East parking lot off of Scott Drive (enter PV high school through the FB Stadium).  The doors labeled “W1” and “S7” will be opened for spectators. Go Muskies!
  • Graduation & Class Ring Orders – Oct. 25th – 4:00-7:15 pm outside Student Services: Jostens representatives will be at MHS outside Student Services on Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 4:00-7:15 pm during Parent/Teacher Conferences to take graduation and class ring orders.
  • ATTENTION – Seniors Planning to Attend MCC Next Year: MCC Financial Aid representatives will be available to provide FAFSA completion assistance during Parent Teacher Conferences. To sign up for an appointment time on either Monday, October 23rd or Wednesday, October 25th between 4-7:00 pm, please call 263-6141 ext 1120.

  • Students registered to take Driver’s Ed through the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency’s Driver Education Program: Classroom instruction will begin on Oct. 23 – Nov 12 at MHS in room 11-009 from 5:30-8:30 pm. Please bring a pencil/pen to the classes.
  • PSAT Test Reschedule Date: The PSAT reschedule date is Wed., Oct, 25 at the Administration Office – 2900 Mulberry Ave. at 8:30 am. If you cannot attend the rescheduled test date, please contact Mr. Welsch at brandon.welsch@mcsdonline.org. If it is determined that there are no possible options for you to take the PSAT test on a future date, you will be reimbursed for the test.
  • MCC Manufacturing Month Open House will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2017,
    from 
    4 to 6 p.m. at the Muscatine Community College Muscatine Industrial Technology Center, 152 Colorado St, Muscatine, IA. The Open House is designed for future students, families and community members interested in earning degrees in Welding or Engineering Technology.   MCC Manufacturing Month Open House Information
  • MHS Boys’ Swim & Organizational Meeting: Any student interested in MHS Boys’ Swim, please attend the swim meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 24th at 8:00 am at the pool.
    If you cannot make the 8:00 am meeting, there will also be a 3:30 pm meeting at the pool

  • Nominate MHS Staff of the Quarter: Teachers and Support Staff play an important role in the lives of children, families, and communities. Each quarter we would like to recognize outstanding educators at Muscatine High School and highlight her/his achievements. The Muscatine High School Staff of the Quarter award has been established to recognize outstanding people for their dedication, professionalism and work in the classroom.   • Canball Sign-up: Canball Sign-up forms can be picked up at the Attendance Center.
    The event will take place on Nov. 2 beginning at 4 pm in the MHS Gym and is open to the public. Player & Spectator entrance fee is $3 or 5 canned goods. Sign-up forms are due
    Oct. 31 by 3:30 pm to Mrs. Walsh in rm 12-008 in the Science Wing. (Canball is volleyball for guys. A team consists of 6 male players and can have 2 alternates and a captain.)

  • The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards will grant two Iowa honorees $1,000, a medallion, and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C.
    The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards is looking for Iowa’s top youth volunteers of the year. Students in grade 5-12 are invited to apply if they have made meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service within the past 12 months. Fall Bash Dance: Are you ready to glow? The Fall Bash Dance will be on Saturday, October 21st from 9-11 pm in the MHS Cafeteria. Entrance is $5 at the door. Bedeck yourselves in white and neon colors for this blacklight extravaganza! Glow sticks, necklaces, and bracelets will be sold on sight, as well. Invite all your peers to come out for a night of fun and fellowship!

  • MHS Choir Concert will be on Monday, October 16th at 7 pm in the MHS Auditorium.
    MCSD staff and a guest are free with staff I.D., and we accept student activity passes.
    Adults are $4 and school-aged children are $3. One Family (Parents and All Children)
    will be admitted for no more than $10.
  • MHS Band Spooktacular Concert will be on Tuesday, October 17th @ 7 pm in the MHS Auditorium. MCSD staff and a guest are free with staff I.D., and we accept student activity passes. Adults are $4 and school-aged children are $3.   • Seniors – Police Mentoring: Stop down and sign up for Police Mentoring in room 11-003 with Officer Conard. It will be a first come first serve basis. All requests that have already been made will be honored.

    Take the Plunge for a chance to receive a $500 college scholarship. For every 25 students* (high school or college) that register and raise the minimum $75 each, a $500 scholarship will be awarded. (Each student that raises the $75 minimum will be placed in the drawing for the $500 scholarship. *One $500 scholarship awarded per student/faculty.)
