Go Muskies!

  • Student pictures that were taken by LifeTouch on Sept. 5th can be picked up in the Student Services Office.
  • Student IDs from pictures that were taken on Sept. 5th can be picked up at the Attendance Center before school, during lunch, or after school.
  • Environmental Club will be meeting Friday, 9/22/17, in room 12-005 (Mrs. Baillie’s room), during enrichment.
  • MHS Coach Judd Anderson has been selected as one of the Top 50 Most Valuable coaches in America! Go vote NOW at www.TheMostValuableCoach.com to help make sure he’s recognized as the U.S. Cellular Most Valuable Coach.
  • Drama Club: Next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 3rd, from 3:45-5:00 pm in the auditorium.  Open to any students interested in theater and improvisation!
  • MHS Volleyball Boonie’s Night Fundraiser: Join us at Boonie’s to support Muskie Volleyball! Monday, October 2nd, 5 pm – Close.

  • September 18-22 is Deaf Awareness Week
    Deaf Awareness Week Interesting Facts for Friday

    • Curtis John Pride is a former Major League Baseball outfielder and is currently the head baseball coach at Gallaudet University (a college for deaf/hard of hearing students in Washington, D.C). He has created a foundation called “Together with Pride” that helps provide hearing aids to children.
    • Sean Lance Berdy (Emmett) on ABC Family’s Switched at Birth.  Sean likes to rap.
      He holds the title of Mr. Deaf Teen America.
    • Katie LeClerc is a hard of hearing actress who plays Daphne on ABC Family’s Switched at Birth. LeClerc has Meniere’s Disease. Sufferers have hearing loss, usually on one side, that fluctuates, and they frequently experience a roaring sound, similar to the sound we hear when we listen to a seashell.   
    • Marlee Matlin (Melody) on ABC Family’s Switched at Birth.  Marlee has been on
      TV shows and Films.  She is also an author and an activist for Deaf rights.  She signed the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in 2016.
    • Derrick Coleman, a fullback for the Seattle Seahawks, is deaf.  Coleman relies on
      lip-reading and his own unique way of communicating with the quarterback.
  • Boys’ Basketball Open Gym will be held, starting on Monday, September 25th, from 7:15 ‐ 8:45p.m. in the MHS gym. Open gyms will be held on Monday and Thursday nights at the same time.
  • Come join in a world-wide prayer event! Wednesday, Sept. 27 is the annual SEE YOU AT THE POLE event. Youth and community members around the nation and around the world will meet at their school flag poles to pray for our schools, communities, nation, and world. Everyone (including parents and other community members) are welcome to join us at the front flag pole from 7:00 to 8:00 am. This year’s theme is ‘let us fix our eyes’
    (Hebrews 12:2). Hope to see you there!!
  • Juniors: The PSAT test will be held on October 11th at 8:30 a.m. in the Muskie room at the Board Office. The PSAT is a standardized test to help you prepare for the SAT and is also the only way to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Cost of the test is $16. You can sign up for the test in Student Services at MHS. Last day to sign up for the PSAT is Monday, 10/9. There are a limited number of test. Please contact your school counselor if you would like more information.
  • Seniors: Baby ads for the yearbook are due October 6th. Baby Ad Form
  • Seniors: Senior pictures need to be uploaded to the yearbook website by November 17th. Senior Picture Form
  • Sept. 23 Volleyball – Parking at Iowa City West: The best (and only) entrance for the volleyball tournament is on the north (front) side of the HS building. Spectators can park in the angle parking in front of the school, our auditorium parking lot, or our West Wing parking lot (and enter through Door 1).New Scholarships: See Scholarship section below (Sept., Oct., Feb., March)

  • The yearbook staff has several extra yearbooks from the following school years:  2012-2013, 2013-2014, and 2015-2016. If you would like to purchase a copy, we are selling these for $20 (originally $56) What a deal! Please contact Katie Brown at katie.brown@mcsdonline.org if you are interested in buying one.

  • Muscatine Branching Out is looking for volunteers to help deliver pre-purchased trees on the corner of 4th and Mulberry on October 14th from 8:45 am – 12:00 pm. If interested, please contact Jeanne Johnson at jajohnso52@yahoo.com
  • The Mulberry School Fall Carnival is Friday, September 29 and we (PTO) are looking for MHS students who want to have some fun volunteering. We are looking for students who would help parent volunteers take tickets and help run the children’s games, paint faces, watch kids in the bounce house, and the photo booth. The carnival activities run from 5:30-8:00. Please contact Niki at 563-554-9239 to choose your games and time slots.
  • Senior Resources is looking for volunteers to help run kids’ games at the Memories Start With Us Walk, Run, Ride benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association on October 14 anytime from 7:00 am – 1 pm. If interested, please contact Angela or Shannon at (563) 263-7292.
  • CrossRoads is looking for 10 volunteers to work their Carnival on September 30 from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. If interested, please contact Tiffany Hood at 563-260-2630.
  • Youth Sports Foundation is looking for students to work the YSF concessions on Sundays. If interested, please contact Jim Miller at 563-288-2541.
  • MCSD Food Service is looking for students who would be willing to volunteer at various elementary buildings to get the students through the breakfast line. Times would be 7:40-8:05 am daily. Please email Alisha Eggers at alisha.eggers@mcsdonline.org if you are interested in volunteering.
