Congratulations to our Future Problem Solvers here at West!! We have THREE teams moving on to the state competition: Way to go Rolando, Dylan, Brian, Liz, Cole, Quincy, Cassie, Katelyn, Lizzie, Lauren & Lauren
This year, the MHS Student Council will be hosting a leadership conference for middle schoolers. This day will consist of workshops, snacks, and a good time all around. Members of Student Council will be running 10 different workshops, and students get to choose which to attend! The workshops address a variety of topics including how to transition to high school, steps to success, and learning how to make connections to those around you. Students interested in being involved in MHS Student Council in the future are encouraged to attend, as well as any student interested in developing leadership skills. Registration forms can be picked up at either attendance or the main office.
The Muscatine Community YMCA is hosting a Middle School Dance on Sat. March 28th, 7:30-10:30pm. Tickets are just $4 and are on sale now at the Y. Don’t wait till the night of the dance, they may be sold out and the cost goes up to $5. There will be a DJ, open gym, dodgeball, wallyball and contest throughout the night. Chaperones are always needed, contact Amy Hessel at the Y to chaperone or for more information.
Stop by the main office for information on the Salvation Army’s Kid Zone Day Camp taking place over the summer.
To any 7th & 8th grade boy or girl interested in participating in track, the first day of practice will be Thursday, March 26th at 3:30. Please report to the large gym on the 26th if you plan on participating. You MUST have a physical, waiver AND concussion form on file to participate.
If you are interested in being part of the Muscatine-Japan Youth Exchange Program and would like to know more about possibly hosting a middle school Japanese student for a week this summer, please plan to attend an informational meeting on Thursday, March 26th at 6pm at West Middle School. This opportunity is open to any student from WMS or CMS. See Ms. Blanchard for more info.
Any 8th grade boy interested in trying out for the MHS high school baseball team will have the opportunity to do so on May 4th. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Colón at West Middle School (563) 263-0411 or edwin.colon@mcsdonline.org
