Upcoming events and dates to remember:

May 25 – NO SCHOOL – Memorial Day

May 26 – WMS Talent Show 1:30 Lg Gym

May 28 – 8th grade Recognition 10:00am

May 29 – Last day of School – 2 hour early dismissal

 

Congrats to the WMS Rock Orchestra for earning 2nd place this weekend at the Music in the Parks competition in Chicago, way to go!

The WMS Orchestra concert will be Thursday, May 14 at 6pm in the WMS Large Gym.  Students should report at 5:30, remember to dress nicely!

 

The West Middle School Spring Concert will be held on Tuesday, May 19th at the West Large Gym at 6:00 p.m. Students should arrive and be seated by 5:45 p.m. Students need to dress up in a nice outfit. Show Choir students only please wear your t-shirt, blue jeans, and regular shoes.

 

LIBRARY NEWS:

The “Buy One Get One Free” Scholastic Book Fair will be in the Library May 7th – 20th!  Shop in person OR online at http://goo.gl/CAMH17.

ALL Library books will be returned starting Monday, May 18th for end of the year inventory.

WMS Library encourages summer reading!  Check books out over the summer from the Library collection in a new program called “MY SUMMER IS BOOKED!”  Participants are required to turn in a parent permission slip.  Pick it up in the Library and read, read, read this summer!

 

Any 8th grade or high school girl interested in playing softball, tryouts will be on May 11th and 12th from 4-6:30 at Kent Stein Park on fields #4 and 5.  Please contact Coach Kim Davis with any questions at kim.davis@mcsdonline.org or 978-495-2905

 

We invite you to attend the 1st Annual Muskie Baseball Hit-A-Thon on May 14th at Tom Bruner Field. Your Muskie Baseball players will be performing in a HR derby similar to what you see on TV to help raise funds for the baseball program. There will be music and a live broadcast by Vintage Sound 93.1 and our own radio personality Tony Tone. There will be catering from Hy-Vee grill, as well as entertainment for all of our youth, which include speed pitch and a bounce house. We also want to welcome all youth in the dugout to spend time with our players. Community members will also have the opportunity to win the following items through a raffle: an autographed picture of Chicago Cubs Anthony Rizzo, a burrito for a week for a year from Mami’s, Muskie Baseball apparel, and more. Hope to see you all on May 14th!

 

The main office has information and registration forms for the 2015 Muscatine High School Summer Boy’s Basketball Camp. Deadline to register is June 26th.

 

Attention 8th grade students!  If you are 14 years old and would like to make some money this summer, please stop by the counselor’s office to pick up information about detasseling.

 

Stop by the main office for info on the 2015 Muskie Football Camp. Camp dates are August 4, 5, 6 2015. Cost is $35.00 for grades 5th – 8th.

 

Jamie Young, an assistant coach for the 17 time NBA Champion Boston Celtics, will host his 2nd annual Youth Basketball Academy to support the Erika Kate Hope Alliance.

Registration is now available so stop by the main office for more information.

Come join Susan Orvis & the MHS girls Basketball staff & team for the 2015 “Girls Basketball Fundamentals Camp”. This camp is designed for young players, (those entering grades 4 – 8; age groups divided) and will teach the fundamentals and team concept through competitive play and contests. We expect a lot teaching, learning and FUN! A purple and white basketball will be provided to each camper. Cost of the camp is $50.00. Stop by the main office for a registration form.
