Open Enrollment is the process by which parents/guardians residing in an Iowa district may enroll their children into another Iowa school district under the terms and conditions of Iowa Code section 282.18 and 281–Iowa Administrative Code chapter 17.
The deadline for students entering Grades 1 – 12 is March 1st. The deadline for students entering kindergarten is September 1st.
Open enrollments are generally not allowed after the deadline unless there is good cause (described on the open enrollment application). Contact the Superintendent’s Office for more information.
Regarding Attendance Center Choice:
An approved open enrollment application does not guarantee that your child will be allowed to attend the elementary/middle school of your choice. You will need to fill out a Voluntary Transfer form to request the attendance center of your choice. Go to the Voluntary Transfer Procedure webpage for information and the form.
