Registration

The district introduced Online Registration a few years ago, a feature of PowerSchool, which allows you to register your student(s) online for the upcoming school year. All students are required to be registered using this feature.

Preschool Registration Information

New Students

Families enrolling students who did NOT attend the Muscatine Community School District in the 2018-19 school year should visit our Enrollment Information page for links to enroll new students.

Existing Students

Online registration via PowerSchool Enrollment begins on July 8th, 2019.  

All families are required to use the online registration system, known as PowerSchool Enrollment.  As such every family of a current MCSD student should already have a PowerSchool account.  In order to complete the online registration system, you will need to log in to your existing PowerSchool Parent account.

If you have forgotten your PowerSchool Parent username or password, click the ‘Having trouble signing in?’ link that appears on the login page and answer the questions presented. PowerSchool will email you additional instructions, assuming it matches the email address you provided on file.  If you do not receive any email messages within 10 to 15 minutes, try the other email addresses you have access to.  If you continue to have problems, please do NOT create a new account. Contact either your student’s home school for additional assistance or send an email to registration@mcsdonline.org. Be prepared to answer a few questions so that we can protect your account security.

Our schools will be open* with extended hours 8 am to 7 pm – Monday, July 22nd through Thursday, July 25th if you need some assistance or do not have access to a computer at home.  The buildings will be closed on Friday, July 26th.

Beginning Monday, July 29th through the start of the school year, you can stop in to our schools between 8 am and 4 pm Monday-Friday.

Online Registration Steps

  1. Log in to your PowerSchool parent account: https://powerschool.muscatineschools.org
  2. Choose the first student at the top of the page you wish to register
  3. Click the link on the left-hand side for 19-20 Returning Student Registration
  4. Confirm the student’s date of birth
  5. Complete the registration forms, confirming the information is still correct and making updates where necessary.
  6. Submit when done.
  7. Choose the next student (if there are more) and repeat the same steps.
  8. Fees are not due until October 1st but you can pay them at any time online between then and now. If you choose to, just click the link on the left-hand side for “Purchases and Payments.” Here is a guide for using the online fee system — InTouch Receipting Online Fee Payment User Guide

Kindergarten Students of Existing Families

If you have existing 1st through 12th grade students and you need to add a Kindergarten student for the 19-20 school year, follow the first 3 steps above, when you get to the date of birth validation screen, instead of putting in the date of birth, click on the “Dashboard” icon in the upper right corner.  From the Dashboard you should be able to click on the “New Student Registration 2019-2020” link.

*If you have completed registration online you do not need to go to your student’s school in person.

High school student photos will be taken during the first few weeks this year.

Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve tried to anticipate some of the questions that may come up, which we provide answers for here.

Q. After I register online, will I have to also go to my child’s school(s) as well?
A. No. If you need to pay fees using a check or cash, turn in any paperwork, or would like to speak with somebody about specific questions you have regarding the upcoming school year, you are welcome to do so, but these things can be done at any time at your student’s home school.

Q. Is registering online mandatory?
A. Yes. If you do not have a computer or internet access at home, you can come to your student’s home school beginning July 22, 2019, and use one of our computers.

Q. After I provide my information online through PowerSchool Enrollment, will I still need to complete the paper registration form?
A. No. We are no longer using a paper enrollment form to re-enroll students.

Q. Is the information I submit online secure?
A. Yes. PowerSchool uses the same encryption technology that is used by banks and other secured systems.

Q. What forms of payment can I use online?
A. The online payment system, InTouch, accepts credit/debit cards only. (Most major credit card types, but not American Express) It also has NO finance charges or fees.

Q. My student already has a PowerSchool account, can I use it to complete online registration?
A. No.  The student PowerSchool accounts are not designed for online registration.  Access to PowerSchool Enrollment is limited to parent/guardian access only.

Q. Can I use a mobile device to complete the E-Registration process?
A. Technically, yes. PowerSchool Enrollment is designed to work well on mobile devices. However, we recommend using a laptop/computer.
