Rocco – Therapy Dog

Rocco is our school therapy dog. He attends school at Grant on a daily basis. He is a part of our school family. The therapeutic use of animals has gained increasing attention in recent years. Unlike people, with whom our interactions may be quite complex and unpredictable, animals provide a constant source of comfort and focus for attention. Animals make us feel safe and unconditionally accepted. Having a therapy dog in house is a preventive and therapeutic measure against everyday stress. One study indicated children’s cognitive development can be enhanced by owning a pet. (Poresky, 1991).

Please treat him with respect and rub his belly!
