Students, please check your adaptive schedule today so you know where to go this afternoon.


The meeting with Coach Orvis for 8th grade girls who are interested in playing Basketball at MHS next year will be Monday at 2:55 in the cafeteria.


8th grade girls interested in Cheerleading next year at MHS will have the chance to meet with the MHS Cheer squad and coaches at 3:00 on Friday, May 10th in the cafeteria.


Congratulations to Reetham Gubba and Aranuah Morter for reaching the sixth grade reading goal of 6,000 pages.  Way to go, Reetham and Aranuah!


8th grade students – High School Show Choir Tryouts will be Wednesday, May 8th after school until 5:00 PM. You only need to sing My Country Tis of Thee, or a song you know well. You will be taught a dance at the audition. For more details, see Mr. Tolle.


Would you like to earn a pizza party for your class?  Then help us raise items for the food pantry at MCSA. We are asking for your support now until May 24th bring in can goods and nonperishable items to your ELA class.  Every week we will total the items and report out the top 3 classes. Every grade has a chance to win, so bring those items in. Help the homeless and support MCSA.


Do you like to lead, plan, problem-solve, organize, and make decisions? MHS StuCo might be the place for you! 8th-grade students interested in serving on the Muscatine High School Student Council for the 2019-2020 school year need to pick up an application packet in the main office. Application packets are due Wednesday, May 8th by 3:30 to the front office of your perspective school. Packets will then be forwarded to the StuCo advisors. (Read directions carefully!)

The 6th grade Ricochet is holding a Fortnite tournament on Friday, May 10th at the YMCA from 5 to 9pm. We will be fundraising for the MCSA. Everyone is invited to come and watch the event, admission will be a canned food item or $1.“


Ricochet 3, 8th grade are collecting items this week for Humane Society such as:


  • Dog and Cat food
  • Kitty Litter
  • Trash bags
  • Stamps
  • Paper towels


The collection bin is by the main office.



The 8th Grade Spring Fling Dance, sponsored by the MHS Student Council, will take place Saturday, May 11th from 8-10 pm in the MHS cafeteria. Students will need to bring their IDs and $5 for entrance. This is for 8th grade students only.


Muscatine summer wrestling camp on August 1-2 from 8am-12pm both days in the MHS wrestling room for grades 2-8. Please pick up a flyer outside the attendance office.



Attention 8th grade students!  If you are 14 years old or will be by June and would like to make some money this summer, please stop by the counselor’s office to pick up information about detasseling.


6th and 7th grade girls can stop by the attendance office to get information on the Muskie Basketball Camp that will take place in June.



The 7TH annual MCSD Race for the Schools – 5K and Muskie Mile TIMED run will be held on Saturday, May 4th at the Muscatine High School.  The 5K begins at 8:30 am and the Muskie Mile begins at 8:00 am.

New this Year – There will be 2 Bounce Houses at the start finish line for kids to enjoy before and after the race.  Bounce Houses are being donated by Bash-N-Bounce! All students who participate in the 1-mile or 5K race will receive a race water bottle.  SPECIAL recognition for students who complete both races! Be sure to mark on your registration from if you want to run both races. You will just need to pay the 5K price and you will receive one shirt.

Student fees are discounted to encourage student participation.  The student fees are $10.00 for the 5K and $5.00 for the Muskie Mile. Scholarships are available for MCSD students to cover the registration fees. Be sure to register before the fees increase on April 25.

This event is designed to promote physical fitness within the community of Muscatine and the Muscatine Community School District. Proceeds from the race support MCSD Physical Education programs and student wellness.  Special awards will be presented to the business and MCSD School with the greatest participation.

From the Athletic Department~ In order for your 7th/8th grade student to participate in a sport, 3 forms will need to be turned in to the Central Middle School Athletic Department/Attendance Office:

1) Central Middle School Athletic Form ~ signed by parent/guardian and student athlete, good for the school year participating

2) Concussion Form ~ signed by parent/guardian and student athlete, good for the school year participating

3) Iowa Athletic Pre-Participation Physical Examination form ~ signed my medical licensed professional and parent/guardian, good for 13 months from the date of physical.  These can be found online on the Central Middle School site under Activities & Athletics or can be picked up at CMS.
