Dec. 20 – We will run on a 2 hour early release schedule due to the Talent Show at the end of the day.
Dec. 21 – 2 hour early dismissal at 1:25 pm
Dec. 24- Jan 1, 2019 – NO SCHOOL (Winter Break)
Jan. 2 – NO SCHOOL – Teacher Inservice
Jan. 3 – Classes resume
There will be no jazz band rehearsal Tomorrow (Thursday) morning.
The Muscatine Community YMCA will be hosting afternoon activities over Winter Break from 1-4pm. The activities are free and open to all 5th-8th graders. Join the Y on the 26th for a Movie Day complete with popcorn and hot chocolate, the 27th for 3 on 3 Basketball, the 28th for Nerf Wars, and Jan. 2nd for Dodgeball. The Y will also be holding a Super Sitters Class for 11-14 year olds on the 27th and 28th from 9am-3pm, $20 for members and $40 for nonmembers, registration is required. Musical- Do you like to Act? Do you like to Sing? Then doing a musical is just for you! The Central/West musical auditions will take place on January 3rd and 4th at Central Middle School and January 7th and 8th at West Middle School. Students can try out at any location. Auditions will consist of students singing a song of their choice and doing a reading. The reading will be given to students the night of the auditions. Auditions are open to any 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade student. A student only needs to come to one of the nights to audition. Audition times will be posted on Tuesday by the Choir Rooms. Auditions will last approximately 10-15 minutes. You must sign up for an audition time to guarantee an audition spot. Auditions will be after school. More information will be coming soon!
Winterguard – Are you interested in trying out Color Guard? Well here is your chance if you have watched the marching bands halftime show and thought that tossing and spinning the flags and other equipment looked fun, then this is a great time to try it out. Winterguard will meet on Thursday afternoons from 4 – 5 pm during the months of November and December in First Baptist Church’s gym – 3003 Mulberry Ave. Whether you can make it to every session or just a couple we would love for you to join us on November 29th, December 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th. Winterguard is open to anyone in grades 6th – 12th from beginners to those who already are part of the Color Guard team. Laney Berry, Debbie Dunsmore, and Pam Joslyn, recipients of the Catherine Miller Explorer Award, would like to share their 2018 travel experiences provided by the Stanley Foundation. The three Muscatine teachers are excited to present their travel adventures, including their understanding and appreciation for other cultures. They will be at the Musser Public Library Room 301 on the following dates.

From the Athletic Department~ In order for your 7th/8th grade student to participate in a sport, 3 forms will need to be turned in to the Central Middle School Athletic Department/Attendance Office:
1) Central Middle School Athletic Form ~ signed by parent/guardian and student athlete, good for the school year participating
2) Concussion Form ~ signed by parent/guardian and student athlete, good for the school year participating
3) Iowa Athletic Pre-Participation Physical Examination form ~ signed my medical licensed professional and parent/guardian, good for 13 months from the date of physical. These can be found online on the Central Middle School site under Activities & Athletics or can be picked up at CMS.
