Due to the shortened schedule there will be no regularly scheduled band lessons today. However, students who would like to work on solo/ensemble material can still come.
CMS Band Students who are doing solo/ensemble contest or the All City Swing Show are reminded to take their instrument and music home today. Jazz band folders will be carried over to the high school by Mr. Rickard.
The band chocolate is here. It will be ready to be picked up by around noon today.
In case you missed it the first time, there will be a re-order of books by the visiting author, Sarah Prineas. Order forms are available in the library. All orders are due April 6th.
The State of Iowa Girls Association is now allowing 7th and 8th grade girls to be introduced to high school golf. Any 7th or 8th girl interested in practicing two times a week with the girls high school golf team need to contact Coach Rivera, matt.rivera@mcsdonline.org for more information. Girls will not be allowed to participate in events but can practice.
A message from the GT Outreach Students:
Hi Central Middle School. This Friday is our PBIS Celebration! Why not celebrate it even more? If you bring $1.00 Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, you get to wear PJ’s on Friday. Teachers , don’t forget if you you pay $1.00 you get to wear workout clothes. Students, give your dollar to your first period teacher. Staff may turn their dollars into the office. One of the GT Outreach students will pick up money everyday from the first period teachers. They are raising money for their community outreach program to plant trees around the Muscatine area. They can’t do it without your help!
Central Acapella Choir Auditions will be held Wednesday, March 22nd from 3:30-5:00 in the Choir Room. Please see Mr. Tolle to sign up for an Audition time.
8th graders…. Class T-shirt sales begin today. This is our biggest fundraiser for the recognition party. We only have $175 for the party at this point. Order forms have been passed out in homeroom. You have until Tuesday April 4th to purchase a class t-shirt. Please only send cash. We won’t be accepting any checks. Receipts will be given for all orders. All orders may be placed in Ms Arnold’s box or you may bring to room 206.
8th grade girls interested in cheerleading at MHS~you can pick up an informational packet in the attendance office
Muscatine Cheer Program is holding their 2017 fall tryouts on Sunday, April 2nd for all current
8th – 11th graders. Packets can be picked up at the Attendance Office starting March 2nd.
There will be tryout clinics on March 14th, 16th, 21st, & 23rd. Tryout practices will be held on

The Muscatine Community YMCA will be hosting a Middle School Dance on Saturday, March 25th 7:30-10:30pm. There will be a DJ with dancing, open gym, dodgeball, walleyball and contests throughout the night. Food will be sold for a nominal fee. Tickets are on sale now at the Muscatine Community YMCA for just $4.00. Tickets will be sold at the door for $5.00. We are always looking for parent volunteers to chaperone. If you have questions or would like to volunteer, please contact Amy Hessel at the Y, 263.9996.
7th and 8th grade Track and Field athletes make sure your athletic, concussion and physical forms are turned in to the attendance office. Practice begins NEXT Monday, March 27th. Track and Field shirt order forms are available in the attendance office.

The fifth annual MCSD Race for the Schools – 5K and Muskie Mile fun run will be held on Saturday, May 6th at the Muscatine High School. Forms are available outside the attendance center.
All students are encouraged to participate. This year, students will receive a 50% discount if they list their school on the registration form. A limited number of scholarships are available for MCSD students to cover the registration fees.
This event is designed to promote physical fitness within the community of Muscatine and the Muscatine Community School District. All proceeds from this fundraiser will filter directly back to MCSD students. Funds will be designated to support physical education and student wellness. Special awards will be presented to the business and MCSD School with the greatest participation.

MCSD Race for the Schools is the second race in the Grand Prix Circuit competition in Muscatine.
