Morning Announcements for students:
Reading logs for the Teen Reading Challenge are due! Turn it in at the CMS Library today or take it to Musser on your own. The challenge party is Friday, Oct 30th, for those qualified.
Mrs. Brown’s Media Studies group challenges you guess which CMS staff member is a huge Walking Dead Fan. Check out the Central Charger News site, linked on the library page for more info. A prize will be awarded to the first correct answer turned in by Oct 29th.
7th and 8th grade girls who are interested in Girls’ Basketball, there will be an informational meeting with your coaches today at 1:00 pm in the Cafeteria. Again, 7th and 8th girls’ basketball meeting at 1;00 PM today.
SLG would like to honor the Veteran’s who are and have served our country. There will be a form you can fill out in the cafeteria at lunch time. Forms need to be filled out by October 27th. We will display their names in the school. Veteran’s Day is Wednesday, November 11th.
Mrs. Moeller is still missing volleyball uniforms from the following girls: Azelyn Perkins, Jamie Zepeda, McKenzee Lipp and Chloe Snyder. Please get these turned in ASAP.
SLG would like everyone to participate in Red Ribbon Week beginning next Monday the 26th of October. Show your support in the fight against drugs. Students can come to school in the style of the spirit day. Be sure to support your school and the Red Ribbon Campaign.
Monday will be wear your red shirt to kick off Red Ribbon Week.
Tuesday will be twin day by pairing up to fight off drugs.
Wednesday will be wear a hat day to cap off drugs.
Thursday is sunglasses day to shade out drugs.
Friday is costume day to scare away drugs.
If you choose to participate in wearing sunglasses, hat or costume, we are asking you to donate 25 cents to be given to New Horizons drug treatment center.
The Muscatine Community YMCA will be hosting a middle school dance on Sat. Oct. 24th from 7:30-10:30pm. Tickets are on sale now at the Y for just $4.00. If any are left, they will be $5.00 at the door. DJ, Dancing, Dodgeball, Open Gym, and other contest throughout the evening. Food will be sold for a nominal fee. Parent Chaperones are always needed. Upcoming dates to remember:
Parent Teacher Conferences for Central Middle School. These will be walk-in conferences [we will not have appointments]
October 22 – 1:45 pm to 3:45 pm in teacher classrooms
October 22 will be a 2 hour early release for students
October 23 No School
8th grade students will be taking a college visit to the University of Northern Iowa on Tuesday, October 27th. Please check with your student for a parent letter with more details.
News from the Athletic Department.
Wrestling and Girls Basketball practices start Monday, October 26. Wrestling will have practice after school at West Middle School, they will be bussed there. Girls Basketball will practice at Central, 7th grade will have practice at 6:15 in the morning and 8th grade will practice after school.
.Students who want to participate in school sports need to have these forms on file at school~
*an up to date physical-on the school’s form parents need to sign the back
*a CMS Athletic Form-this needs to be signed by both parent and student
*a Concussion Form-this also needs to be signed by both parent and student
These forms can be found on the CMS school website or can be picked up in the attendance office.
