CMS Daily Announcements Tuesday, April 12th~Green Day

Morning Announcements for students

On Thursday, April 14, Susan Orvis, MHS Girls basketball coach will have a meeting with all 8th grade girls during SSR in the Auditorium. Students will go to SSR for attendance and then released to the auditorium.

We are starting to get neighborhood complaints about how students are going through our neighbors yards, knocking things down, or climbing in their trees. Part of learning to be a good citizen is respecting other’s property and rights. We talk about being respectful at school and we ask that you be respectful on your way to and from school. Our neighborhood, is your neighborhood. Please treat our neighbors and their property with respect.

Congratulations to Fernando Carrillo on reaching the sixth grade book challenge.  Way to go, Fernando!  (Please read just on Tuesday. Thanks, Shawn)

TOMORROW, students and staff will be eating a sack lunch outside along with participating in a walk as part of Blue Zone.  We encourage everyone to wear comfy clothes and shoes that are good for walking!

New Boundary Look Up Tool Available!

Posted: 15 Mar 2016 08:55 AM PDT

There is now a new “boundary” lookup tool for parents to use for determining which school a certain address “should” attend. It’s very easy and intuitive. (It DOES NOT indicate whether a student should ride the bus or walk.)

http://www.muscatine.k12.ia.us/maps/

Tips:

  • To use it full screen click the “full screen” button in the upper right-hand corner of the map interface.
  • You can use the sprocket icon to choose which “layers” are shown. By default only the district layer is shown, but you can change that to elementary boundaries, middle school etc.
  • When you search an address it will show you which elementary, middle school and high school (only one choice) that address should attend.
  • You can also click the directions and it will use google maps to plot walking or driving directions from the home to the school.

Parents: The lunch for April 13th will be switched to a sack lunch.  Students will receive a sack lunch containing a cold cut combo sandwich, carrots, apple, cookie, and milk. Students will be eating outside this day with their teachers and classmates!
