1st hour teachers…please get the names of your students who need a sack lunch on the last day of school. If they don’t order a lunch then they will need to make sure they bring one that day. Please enter those names into the Google Doc. Terry Byrd needs those names this morning (Thursday).
The Central Middle School Spring Choir Concert will be tonight, May 12th at 6:30 p.m. in the Central Auditorium. Students please arrive and be seated by 6:15 p.m. Students please dress up and look your best! Students remember that this is part of your choir grade so attendance is mandatory.
CMS Bands would like to thank Ms. Christiansen, Mr. Hurlbert, Mrs. Stogdill, and Mr. Hogenson for all your help last night at the concert. Because of your help we represented CMS well and was able to get the stage cleared in time for today’s choir rehearsals. Great teamwork CMS!
There will be NO Rock Orchestra rehearsal today, Thursday May 12th.
A Blue Zone Activity will be held the last hour of school May 17. Students will have a choice of soccer, volleyball, or walking outside, dodgeball or knockout in the gym. To participate, students can turn in $3 or 3 bottles of water, OR 3 canned food items to the cafeteria during morning program or the last 10 minutes of school. The collection takes place through Friday, May 13. Students who do not donate will go to the cafeteria during the Blue Zone Event and have a choice of reading or doing homework. Money donations will go to the Humane Society and food and water donations will go to the homeless shelter.
8th grade book club meeting Thursday.
SLG is challenging all CMS students to bring in non-perishable and canned food to help the Muscatine Food Pantry. The food pantry receives many donations during the holidays, but they still need donations for the summer months. Bring your donations to your 1st period class from now until May 24th. Your 1st period teacher will be keeping track of who brings in the most cans. The top 10 students will be throwing a pie in the face of a teacher. Start bringing in your donations!!
Reminder from the kitchen:
Please keep an eye on your lunch account, you will no longer be allowed to charge your lunch. A peanut butter sandwich and orange juice will be served if you would like a lunch.
Track athletes, uniforms need to be turned into the attendance office a.s.a.p.!
Muskie Football: Current 8th‐11th-grade football parents, we will have a Spring meeting on Sunday, May 15th at 4:15 PM in the MHS cafeteria. Players-Lift-a-thon letter writing will be at 5pm in the MHS commons.
Attention 8th grade students! If you are 14 years old and would like to make money this summer, please stop by the counselor’s office to pick up information about detasseling.
6th, 7th and 8th grade girls stop into the attendance office to get information on Muskie basketball camp this summer.
8th grade girls can also pick up the spring/summer Muskie girls basketball practice schedule and also information on Muskie Volleyball for next year in the attendance office.
Friday May 13 will be the last day to pre order your yearbook. They are $16 and can be purchased in the office. We have ordered a few extra but can not guarantee how long they will last.

Due to the fact that the last day of school has been changed to May 26, the 8th grade Recognition Day has been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 25 from 12-1 in the school auditorium. You are welcome to celebrate this special day. Auditorium doors will open at 11:30. See you there.

Attn: 8th grade parents – Muskie Booster Members needed. The Muskie Boosters are currently recruiting new board members for the 2016-2017 Board. Board members help with special events like Fall kick-off, Cake Auction, etc. also helping with concession volunteers. The Muskie Boosters support all MHS sports, activities, clubs, etc raising funds and helping keep the activities/sports going. New Boundary Look Up Tool Available!

There is now a new “boundary” lookup tool for parents to use for determining which school a certain address “should” attend. It’s very easy and intuitive. (It DOES NOT indicate whether a student should ride the bus or walk.)

Tips:
From the Athletic Department~Tuesday, August 23, 2016 is the first day of school and the first day of practice for football, volleyball and cross country. In order to PRACTICE and PARTICIPATE, the following FORMS HAVE TO BE TURNED INTO THE ATTENDANCE OFFICE:
*Central Middle School Athletic Form-signed by parent and student. Good for 1 school year, 2016-2017.
*Physical-filled out by doctor and also signed by parent. Good for 13 months from date of physical.
*Concussion Form-signed by parent and student. Good for 1 school year, 2016-2017.
These forms can be found on the CMS school site or picked up in the attendance office and can be mailed in or dropped off when completed.
