Your feedback is requested regarding the proposed 2017-18 and 2018-19 school calendars.  The calendar start date is August 23 for both years which complies with Iowa state law and is the first day that students can begin school. The proposed calendars also comply with state law for the number of hours that students must attend. You will note that this draft calendar has 1st semester ending prior to winter break which was a recommendation from the high school, and mimics this current year’s calendar by having minimal early outs/teacher inservice days to allow for less disruption of student instruction time. Also snow makeup days are scheduled at the end of the school year.
