Dave Hartman – Custodian at West Middle School
Nominated by Jessica Blanchard
|
“Dave is one of our night custodians at West. Dave always greets me with a hello and a smile. He is the kind of guy that will do anything for you at any time. I feel that he deserves some recognition for a job that often gets overlooked because the students/staff don’t see him. We just come to school the next day and magically our garbage is gone and everything is perfectly clean. The best part about Dave is his happy attitude. It is impossible to talk to Dave and not feel better! West is a lucky to have this wonderful man and custodian at our school and he deserves some recognition!” Jessica Blanchard

“Joy is a beacon of light in our school library. She makes the library a welcoming atmosphere for students. She is a friendly face, a calming voice, and a wonderful role model for growing readers. She goes above and beyond by really showing a true interest in students. She is genuine and helps students choose books based on their interests. I often hear her having meaningful conversations with students about books and recommending new series. Dixie Luna – 1st Grade Teacher at McKinley Elementary
Nominated by Trista Sotelo
|
“Mrs. Luna is exceptional with her students. She is patient, kind and understanding. She makes an honest effort to truly get to know them and to understand their best learning style and communication style. She encourages them in their areas of strength and works with them in their areas of struggle. She is great at communicating with the parents. She goes above and beyond to make her students know she care; she sends post cards when she is on summer vacation, she attends their sporting events when invited, and always acknowledges her students and parents in public with a word of encouragement about their children. Only one of my children have had the privilege of having her as a teacher thus far, but I pray the other one will get her too. McKinley teachers show they are in their profession for all the right reasons. We love you Mrs. Luna!” Trista Sotelo |
