Nominations can come from community members, parents, and staff members. The district would like to take this opportunity to introduce to you and congratulate May’s best of the best at MCSD!
Kris Gladwell – Secretary – Grant Elementary
Nominated by Tes Newhall.
“Kris is amazing! She greets everyone with a smile and is very helpful to ALL! I am so proud to have such a welcoming individual be at the front door of our school. Kris is very knowledgeable and has lots of common sense! As a new teacher this year to Grant, Kris has offered help, advice, and support that I have needed. Kris goes above and beyond and does not complain. She has cleaned up several messes from students who were ill. Grant is a better place for students, parents, and staff as a result of all of Kris Gladwell’s contributions!” Tes Newhall
Sarah Manjoine – 5th Grade Teacher – Jefferson Elementary
Nominated by Mason Kopf.
“Sarah Manjoine is an amazing teacher. Many students remember her from teaching kindergarten. Sarah has always been caring for her students. She has been there for students that needed someone to look up to and she has been a amazing person and mentor to the Muscatine Community School District.” Mason Kopf
Jeanne Petersen – Secretary – Central Middle School
Nominated by Emily Mrosko.
“Jeanne is above and beyond an exceptional secretary. She is constantly multi-tasking with ease as she deals with both the staff and the public on a daily basis. I have never seen her frazzled or overwhelmed in the three years I have known her. All of Central staff looks to her as their “go to” person from issues big to small; Jeanne knows it all! When a staff member is in a bind and gives her a quick task it is done immediately. You can always count on her no matter what. She is also very thoughtful and considerate and willing to help out whenever called upon. Central’s office would not be the same without her charismatic personality and contagious smile to greet you every single day!” Emily Mrosko
Kelly Gillespie – School Nurse – Muscatine High School
Nominated by Wendy Donald.
“This is Kelly’s first year as a school nurse for the district. I am so impressed with her professionalism, compassion and communication skills! Kelly has gone above and beyond to build relationships with her students and families. This is a huge task considering that she is the nurse at Muscatine High School and is responsible for providing health services to approximately 1400 students. Kelly brings best practices with her and has improved the delivery of health care in her building. She has a quest for knowledge and the drive to deliver her best effort in every student interaction. I am so happy to have her as a colleague!” Wendy Donald
Gina Schliesman – 3rd Grade Teacher – Grant Elementary
Nominated by Lisa Paul.
“I would like to nominate an outstanding teacher and colleague at Grant Elementary – Gina Schliesman. She continually goes above and beyond for her students but also for our staff. She serves on the Lighthouse Team at Grant School and on the Muscatine School Advisory Committee at a district level. She has helped coordinate two of our family events – the Fall Tailgate and the Spring Family Math Night. She is instrumental in getting the meals planned and organized for these events. She also volunteers for our Carnival and spends a lot of time working in her classroom after hours and on the weekends. She truly is a dedicated teacher who wants what is best for her students. I feel honored to work with her and grateful that my daughter has Gina for a teacher.” Lisa Paul
