- Congratulations to the following girls’ and boys’ track team members who will be competing at the state track meet at Drake Stadium this week:
- 3000 Meters: Rylee Blake
- 100 Meters: Aaron Webb, Tim Nimely

- Yearbook distribution will take place outside the Auditorium (closest to the greenhouse) to anyone that pre-ordered during the following times:
- May 14: 7:30-8:20am and Muskie Time
- May 15: 7:30-8:20am, Muskie Time, and after school until 4:30pm
- Yearbook Purchase: Starting Thursday morning, if a student would like to purchase a yearbook, they will be available at the Attendance Center for $56 on a first come, first served basis.
- Student group GSA will meet in room 12-005 during Muskie Time on Thursday May 16.
- Girls’ track uniform turn in will be Wednesday, May 15 before school, during Muskie Time, or after school in the main gym. All equipment should be turned in to Coach Armstrong by the end of the day Wednesday.

- Choir Awards Concert will be held on May 13 @ 7pm in the MHS Auditorium.
- MHS Band Concert will be held on May 14 @ 7 pm in the MHS Auditorium.
- Student-Athlete College Commitment Ceremony: MHS will be hosting a ceremonial recognition Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 12:15 pm in MHS Auditorium to acknowledge all senior athletes who will continue playing at the next level.
- River Bend Mobile Food Pantry will be held on May 14 in the rear parking lot at MHS from 4:30 to 6:00pm. River Bend Mobile Food Pantry Info
- Giles Joslyn Memorial Stringfest Concert will be held on Saturday, May 18th @ 7pm in the MHS Auditorium. Giles Joslyn started the Stringfest Concert in 2009 as a benefit to raise money to help support students in their study of music. Giles had a passion for teaching music and we hope he lives on through this event for years to come. All money raised is used to buy string instruments for the Muscatine orchestra program and to provide scholarships for students to take private lessons. There will be performers of many different styles of music. Come join us for the concert and stay to enjoy Giles favorite Root Beer Floats after. Hope to see you there!
- Senior obligations are posted outside of Student Services. They must be paid before cap and gown pick up on May 23rd to be able to participate in the graduation ceremony.
Senior obligations will be collected between the hours of 10am and 2pm on Thursday, May 23, 2019 in the MHS Library.
- A Senior Walk will take place on Friday, May 24, 2019. Seniors are to arrive at the high school by 8:15am in their cap and gowns, and load buses based upon the elementary school they attended. If a senior did not attend an MCSD elementary school, they will choose a building to visit. The buses will depart for each elementary building by 8:30am. The seniors will parade through the elementary halls getting high fives and congratulations from the kids and teachers. Students will then load the buses and return back to the high school for their senior breakfast in the Commons following by graduation practice.

- The Boy’s Track Banquet will be held Tuesday, May 14 at 6:00 PM in the MHS Commons. We will have a potluck-style banquet. Bring your own table setting- (Water and cups will be
provided)

- Summer Employment Opportunity: Corn Detasseling – Must be at least 14 years old by June 18, 2019. Workers will need to attend a safety meeting June 18th from 5:45-8:00 pm at MCC. Applications are available in the Student Services Office.

** Silver Cord Opportunities **
- Muscatine 2nd Saturday is a non-profit organization under the Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine, and we are looking for volunteers. Volunteers would help with anything from setting up or tearing down barricades, to supervising family friendly activities – for example, simple rock decorating, sidewalk chalk drawing, & some light sport activities at times (all materials are provided). We will also be partnering with Special Olympics, Big Brothers Big Sisters for their “Over the Edge” fundraiser, as well as other local charities and businesses. Officially, Second Saturday is a once a month arts and music street fest to be held on 2nd Street from Cedar to Iowa and on Iowa from Mississippi Drive to 3rd Street the second Saturday of every month from May to October. - The Muscatine Art Center is hosting an Ice Cream Social on Sunday, June 30th from 1-5pm. Volunteers are needed to help run games, work in the art studio and help with various crafts and activities. For more information contact Katy Loos @ 563-263-8282.
- Muscatine County Extension Day Camp Volunteers Needed: will assist a group of 3 – 5 youth during various day camps. May assist the instructor with setting up the camp or putting supplies away, plus other duties as needed with camps. Orientation will be held in late May of 2019 and at that time the volunteers will have the opportunity to pick which days camps that they would like to assist at throughout the summer. - Stepping Stones Learning Center LLC is in need of volunteers to help with their carnival on May 23rd. from 9:00am to Noon. Time slots are available if you can not work the full time. - Muscatine Heart Study located in the old Muscatine Hotel is looking for students to earn silver cord hours by helping them with their office work. Hours are flexible as they are open 10am-8pm Monday-Thursday. Contact 264-3886 for more information or to set up a time to work.
- Meals on Wheels Volunteers Needed: Deliver Meals for Seniors Saturdays & holidays. Meals are picked up at Trinity. It takes about an hour to deliver a route. A route consists of delivering 8- 10 meals. Training is provided by riding along with current volunteers to learn route. A valid driver’s license (or a licensed driver to transport you) is required. - 2019 Muscatine Summer Wrestling Camp will be held on August 1-2 from 8am-12pm both days in the MHS wrestling room for grades 2-8. All abilities welcome and the cost is $50 before July 15 or $65 after July 15. 2019

- PIANO CAMP: June 24-28, grades 9-12
Students will participate in daily lessons, group seminar, theory/composition class, piano ensemble call, and supervised practices. On the last day, campers will present a concert. Cost: $225 – Time: 5 days
- ENGINEERING BOOT CAMP: June 26-28, grades 9-12
Students will complete hands-on projects to develop skills in team working, problem solving, and communication.
Cost: $200 – Time: 3 days, 2 overnights
- FASCINATING HUMAN BODY CAMP: June 26-27, grades 11-12
Students will explore the marvels of human body anatomy using cadavers.
Cost: $75 Time: 2 days, 1 overnight

- The Muscatine High School Dance Team will be selling Love Your Melon cuffed beanies with our Muskie logo on them. The hats will not only help us to raise money for our team, but they will raise money for the efforts of Love Your Melon. Love Your Melon is an apparel brand dedicated to giving a hat to every child battling cancer and supporting the fight against pediatric cancer.
