  • Class of 2022 Athletic Signing Recognition Ceremony: ​​Congratulations on being so close to the end of your high school experience. The end of your time at MHS is in sight so keep pushing forward.
    A signing recognition ceremony for the Class of 2022 athletes that are planning to participate in a college sport is being planned. The date will be provided once it is scheduled. Please fill out the form that is below so that we can plan accordingly.

  • Class of 2022 Grad Cap Design: The Class of 2022 will be allowed to decorate their Graduation Caps!  To participate, please submit your Grad Cap design by 3:30pm on Friday, May 6th to Mrs. Borde in the Main Office (Room 11-001). Please read and abide by the rules for your design. MHS Administration will review your design and approve or deny.  Only approved designs will be allowed at the Ceremony so get your design in by the deadline!  A Grad Cap Design Template is attached for you to print out, design, and turn in for approval.  Have Fun!  Grad Caps Design Rules

  • 13th Annual Giles Joslyn Memorial Stringfest: The performance will take place next Friday night, April 29th. The event will be at 7:00pm in the MHS Auditorium, with doors opening at 6:30pm. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Stringfest features students and community members and a wide assortment of performances. It is a pleasure to put this performance on for the community and we hope you can all make it! Even if you’ve never been to Stringfest before, you should come check it out! All proceeds go towards supporting orchestra students district wide, but supplying them music, instruments, instrument repair and music lessons.  13th Annual Giles Joslyn Memorial Stringfest
  • Prom Tickets: There are 10 Prom tickets left to purchase. Please see Mrs. Stoltzfus in the AD Secretary’s office – Rm 11-002 to purchase your ticket.  Cost per ticket is $20. (There will be no more tickets available when all the tickets are purchased due to capacity limitations.)  MHS PROM is on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at The Merrill Hotel, 8-11PM. 
  • REQUIRED! CAPE WAIVER & FREE CAPE TICKET!  A representative from CAPE will be at MHS outside of Student Services during A & B lunches through Thursday, April 28.  Starting April 19th, please pick up a liability waiver from the CAPE representatives and then return the COMPLETED waiver to the CAPE representatives to get your FREE CAPE ticket. Each person must have a CAPE ticket. You do not need to be attending Prom to attend CAPE. All juniors and seniors in good standing as well as pre-approved guests are invited to CAPE. CAPE will take place from midnight – 3:00AM on May 1, 2022 in the MHS Commons and Gym and provides an evening of fun after the dance with a variety of games and activities such as Casino Games, Bungee Run, Human Soccer Balls, Adrenaline Rush Obstacle Course, Bingo, Air Brush Artist, Photo Booth, unlimited food and GREAT PRIZES! Security will be provided.

  • Junior Police Academy- June 6-9, 2022: In partnership with Muscatine Community College, the Muscatine Police Department is offering high school students the opportunity to learn more about law enforcement through their Junior Police Academy. The four-day training will take place June 6 – 9 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. each day. Students will learn what it takes to become a police officer with hands-on lessons and activities, including: Physical Conditioning, Traffic Enforcement, Police Operations, Crime Scene Investigation, K-9 Operations, and Evidence Collection
    There is no cost to attend and lunch is provided. All high school students are eligible to apply, however space is limited. Preference will be given to juniors and seniors. Those that attend will have an opportunity to earn a $500 scholarship from the Muscatine Police Officers Association and a $500 scholarship from Muscatine Community College (if they choose to continue their education at one of the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges.) The deadline to apply is May 20, 2022.

  • MHS Pom Squad auditions will be held on May 14 @ 1:30 PM.  Audition routine will be taught  May 14 starting at 9:00AM in the Main Gym of MHS. Auditions will be that afternoon.
    • There will be 3 technique clinics on May 4 and 11 at MHS Main Gym 6:15am-7:30AM and May 12 at SJCJH Big Gym 6:15am-7:30AM.
    • Clinics are not required but are helpful.

Parents & Students: The Academic Awards Ceremony will be held on May 11th starting at 8:30AM in the MHS Auditorium.  There is a list of Student ID numbers posted outside of the Student Services office.  The list consists of those students who will be recognized for any of the following: Upward Bound, Silver Cord, 5 or more AP classes, and 3, 5, and 7 semesters of a GPA of 3.00 or higher.  Parents and Family are invited to attend!

  • DEADLINE TO APPLY IS APRIL 29th! 10th Grade Students – MCSD Student School Board Representative: Becoming an MCSD Student School Board Representative is a great way to introduce students who may be interested in public service or a government career to an elected board. The purpose of the student representative to the Muscatine School District Board of Education is to serve as a liaison between the governing body of the school district and Muskie students.  The student representative will communicate between school-based leadership and the school board, the community and the student body and represent student interest on policies and procedures.
    Two high school student representatives (one Junior and one Senior) will serve as liaisons to the Board of Directors for a term of two years.  The student representatives will provide insight and support to the Board’s understanding of student issues and perspectives, concerns and questions, and student successes.  The student representative will represent the Muscatine School District in accordance with the responsibilities, qualifications, and selection procedures listed in this document.  Link to

  • REMINDER! Senior financial obligations are posted outside of the Athletics and Activities Office by student number. These obligations include all outstanding financial obligations to date. Any unreturned supplies or equipment before the end of the year could result in a higher obligation. Senior obligations need to be paid at the Attendance Office prior to graduation in order for students to participate in the graduation ceremony. If the obligations are a burden to your family or if you have any questions, please contact Wendi Schmelzer at (563) 263-7223 ext. 1012 to discuss payment arrangements.

  • REMINDER! Seniors – Post Graduation Senior Survey:  This is just a friendly reminder that in order to pick up your cap and gown, you will need to complete the Senior Survey (Post Graduation) in PowerSchool. This is a survey that the State of Iowa requires and it will not take you very long to complete it. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Mauck.

  • Seniors who are or intend to attend Muscatine Community College next year: MCC Foundation is extending the MCC scholarship deadline for students planning to attend Muscatine Community College in the 2022-2023 academic year. In addition to new applicants, students who started an application for the March 1 deadline, will be able to complete and submit their original application.   • May 18, 2022 – Senior Awards Night, MHS Auditorium @ 6:30PM. Invitation only. Students will be notified by Student Services in advance if they will be receiving a scholarship/award.
  • May 19, 2022: Senior Obligations. All obligations must be paid and equipment/books returned. List of Student IDs are posted outside of the Attendance Office.
  • May 20, 2022 – Graduation Rehearsal, Cap & Gown Pick-up, and load the buses to visit your elementary school!
  • Graduation: May 22, 2022 @ 2PM in the MHS Stadium.  There are NO restrictions on the number of guests attending.

  • MHS Colorguard: If you are interested in MHS Colorguard we will have four mini sessions where you can try out the equipment and learn short routines.  You are welcome to come to one or all four sessions. They will be held every Thursday in April from 7pm to 8:15pm at the First Baptist Church’s Gym, 3003 Mulberry Ave.  This is a great chance to try out colorguard to see if you would like to become part of the team.  If you have any questions, please reach out to Carolyn Hurlbut at carolyn.hurlbut@mcsdonline.org.
  • Athletic Punch Pass/Card for adults are $40 and can be purchased at the MHS Attendance Center or at the gate during events. This Punch Card allows you 10 admissions into all sporting events except regional & state competitions, most vocal, orchestra, and band events, and the fall drama production.

    There are so many opportunities at Altorfer.  This is a great career choice for students who are mechanically inclined. We will have snacks, beverages, goodie-bags, a shop tour and a lot of great information about the program. We still offer tuition reimbursement for those who are accepted into the ThinkBIG program!   • The Genesis Adventures in Nursing Summer Camp (GAIN) will be held July 18-22, 2022, for high school students who may be interested in a nursing/healthcare career.  Campers will be introduced to different specialties in health care, and participate in activities such as a mock trauma in the emergency department, a mock childbirth, dissection lab, visit the new surgical suites, visit the simulator lab and learning center, learn first aid and CPR, and so much more! Applicants who have completed 9th grade through 2022 high school graduation are invited to register for GAIN camp.

  • Silver Cord Form:  Students recording hours of volunteer service during their years at MHS will be awarded a Silver Cord to wear at graduation. In order for volunteer hours to count towards a Silver Cord, STUDENTS must complete the online form to verify. Silver Cord Form
  • ALL STUDENTS DRIVING TO SCHOOL: ALL students driving to school will need to complete a Vehicle Registration Form for a new MHS Parking Tag.  This parking tag will be used for until the Class of 2025 graduates.  The form is available online Vehicle Registration Form, MHS Attendance or Student Services office. Completed forms should be returned to the Student Services office. Students with a new MHS Parking can park in the Bonnie Dr. or Cedar St. parking lots.

  • Camp Wyoming (located in Jones County, Iowa) is in need of volunteers this summer.
    • Female Volunteers Only: Our TTT (pronounced Tri-T) summer camp program serves close to 100 4th grade girls a week from under-privileged homes throughout Iowa. Volunteer counselors assist our camp staff and help lead the girls in activities like swimming, arts and crafts, kayaking, and games, as well as supervise them in their cabins at night. TTT Volunteers are needed the weeks of June 5-10 and June 12-17. Volunteers must be current juniors in high school or older to apply.
      Earn 120 volunteer hours with one week of service!
    • Male and Female Volunteers: Our traditional summer camp programs serve children and youth between the ages of 5 and 17. These programs are religious in nature, so volunteers must be comfortable working and participating in a Christian program. Volunteer counselors assist our camp staff in caring for campers and leading activities like swimming, kayaking, archery, and Bible study, as well as caring for the campers at night. Volunteers are needed during the weeks of June 19-24, June 26-July 1, July 10-15, July 17-22, and/or July 24-29. Volunteers must be current juniors in high school or older to apply.       *160 hours are required for students graduating in the Class of 2024.

  • Yearbooks: If you would like to purchase an MHS 2020-21 yearbook, cost is $56.
  • Did you or someone you know attend Muscatine High School during the 2012 through 2015 school years? If so, this is your chance to purchase a yearbook that reflects those school years and memories! Each yearbook is $20 until sold out. All proceeds go back into the Yearbook Club to purchase new equipment and expand the program for students.
