Yearbook Orders: The last day for yearbook orders has been extended to February 23rd. Order yours today at the Attendance Center – $56.

  • Juniors: ACT Prep sessions are available the first half of lunch in the Science wing in room 12-018. Today there will be a Math session covering Intermediate Algebra topics.
  • Attention Juniors: This Sunday, February 18th from 2-5:30 will be the first ACT practice test session. Studies have shown that the best way to prepare for the ACT is to do a full practice test ahead of time so you understand the topics covered, but also the pacing needed to complete it. Also this year the ACT will be given online, so it is even more important that you come in and do a practice test to understand the formatting. Please sign-up so we know how many to plan for. These sessions are FREE and we will also be providing wraps and snacks the first Sunday and pizza the second Sunday. Encourage your friends to sign up also!

  • Boys’ Tennis Meeting: Coach Kiser, boys’ tennis coach, will have a tennis meeting after school on Thursday, March 1 in Room 21-030. Anyone interested in playing tennis needs to attend this meeting.
  • Boys’ tennis practice starts March 19 at 4:00pm at Weed Park. Be sure to have all of your paperwork filled out prior to the first practice. Check with Mrs. Watson in the Athletic Office.
  • Senior Survivor Boonies Fundraiser/Erika Kate Foundation: Tuesday, February 13th from 5pm-11pm. Senior Survivor Boonies Fundraiser Info
  • Boys’ Swim Banquet will be on Thursday, February 15 at 6:00pm in the MHS Commons. We are asking that everyone bring their own tableware, silverware and drinks. We would ask that you follow these guidelines for bringing food:
    Freshmen – Side Dish
    Sophomores – Side Dish
    Juniors – Main Dish
    Seniors – Desserts
  • Singing Valentines are back for another year of romance!
    For just $5, MHS Vocal Music students will sing a love song for your sweetheart or special friend on Valentine’s Day! For only $2 more, the singers will deliver a flower while they sing! Valentines will be delivered February 14th during 4th period and lunch.
    How to reserve: Choir students will be selling reservations for Singing Valentines outside of Student Services February 7th – 9th and the 12th – 13th. Checks may be made out to “MHS Vocal Music”. Cash is accepted and change will be available.

  • Sophomores & Juniors: The Muscatine Rotary club is sponsoring a youth leadership program held at Grinnell College from July 15-20 for students in the class of 2019 and 2020.
    The cost of the program is covered by the Rotary club. We encourage your students to apply using the online link. A committee will review applicants and recommend them for participation.
  • RESCHEDULED – FEB. 15TH! Skin Cancer Presentation, Feb. 15th during 2nd OR 3rd period: A very relevant and informative presentation on skin cancer prevention will be presented in the auditorium. This event is open to all students and/or classes who would like to attend. Any student who is interested in attending for one period must stop by the attendance office to get a form to be filled out by their 2nd or 3rd period teacher.
  • Talent Show Auditions: The MHS Talent Show is back and will now be hosted by Key Club and UNICEF Club! If you are interested in participating, there are informational packets available at the attendance office. Auditions will be on Tuesday, February 13th from 7:30-8:00am OR 3:30-4:30pm in the auditorium. The act must be school appropriate.   • Needed – 12 oz. 16 oz, and 2-liter clear bottles for CAPE decorating. If you have any of these bottles and are willing to donate, please wash them out, take the label off, and drop them off at MHS to Mrs. Borde in the principal’s office.
  • Key Club Blood Drive: Any MHS Students or Staff interested in donating blood for the Micaela Brunson Memorial Blood Drive on Friday, February 16th needs to sign‐up with a Key Club member, friend of Micaela, or email Mrs. Keltner at Walk‐ins will NOT be taken for this blood drive ‐‐all donors need to have a scheduled time between 8:00am-11:30am.
  • Juniors: Coming up on Sunday, February 18th and 25th from 2-5:30 we will be offering FREE ACT Prep sessions. You will be taking a practice test within each area (math, science, English, and reading). We will have a teacher from each area to go over questions and give test taking tips. Please consider coming to one or both sessions! If you are planning on coming, please complete this quick survey so we know how many to plan for.

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • Volunteers for Girl Scouts: “Want to help the at risk youth in your area? Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois is looking for volunteers! We are looking for students who want to make a difference in young girls’ lives by providing them with Girl Scout opportunities they might not otherwise have. Currently we are looking for students to help at cookie booths in Muscatine and the QC area as well as Girl Scout programs. If you are interested in hearing more or signing up to volunteer please contact the Volunteer Coordinator for your area, Amy Green, at or (563 )823-9940 x302.”
  • MCC Harry Potter Festival committee is looking for volunteers on May 19th. They will need volunteers from 9 am to 6 pm. Our plan for volunteers is to divide our festival map into quadrants and divide volunteers accordingly. Areas of assistance needed will be: Some of the things we need assistance in are: greeting people, directing people where they want to go, if necessary helping bands with their stands and equipment, and running activity booths. All of these areas will be supervised by either staff members from the class, or the instructors. If interested, please contact Kayla Leming at (Staff t-shirts will be provided to all volunteers!)
  • Volunteer Camp Counselors Needed at ISU Extension & Outreach: Volunteers will assist a group of 3 – 5 youth during various day camps. May assist the instructor with setting up the camp or putting supplies away based on the type of camp. Orientation will be held in early March of 2018 and at that time the volunteers will have the opportunity to pick with days camps that they would like to assist at throughout spring break and summer.   • Juntos is in the process of organizing a Juntos series at the high school. We are looking for two students interested in earning Silver Cord or volunteer hours to provide child care for the following dates: February 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and March 1st from 5:30 – 8:00 pm.

  • MCSD Food Service is looking for students who would be willing to volunteer at various elementary buildings to get the students through the breakfast line. Times would be 7:40-8:05 daily. Please email Alisha Eggers at if you are interested in volunteering.
