  • This Thursday SOAP (Students of Active Prayer) will meet at 1893 North Isett Ave. from 7:30-9:00. Everyone is welcome to attend.
  • New Silver Cord Opportunity – see Silver Cord section below.
  • Reminder – MHS Talent Show auditions are TODAY from 7:30-8:00 am OR 3:30-4:30 pm in the auditorium. If you are interested in participating, there are informational packets available at the Attendance Office. The date of the actual Talent show will be Thursday, March 9th from 8:30-10:30 am. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Keltner (jen.keltner@mcsdonline.org) or Ms. Christensen (laura.christensen@mcsdonline.org).
  • Attention Seniors – If you missed the senior scholarship meeting please stop in Student Services to pick up the packet. The Final deadline for these scholarships is Friday, March 3rd at 4:00 pm.
  • All boys basketball players and their families are invited to the Muscatine Boys Basketball Awards Banquet on Thursday, February 23rd at 6:00 pm in the Stan Howe Commons. Please bring a dessert. If you would like to bring either bottled water or soda, please contact Coach McDonald in advance at gabe.mcdonald@mcsdonline.org
  • Boys’ Soccer Meeting – Any boy interested in playing soccer this year, there will be a meeting on Feb. 23rd at 4:00 pm in the Commons.
  • Girls’ Basketball – The banquet will be held Thursday, March 2 at 6:00 pm in the Commons.
  • FCA – We will meet on Wednesday over the lunch hour in the multipurpose room upstairs (room 228). There will be pizza!
  • Model UN – There will be a meeting on Thursday, February 23 at 12:25 pm in Ms. Hansen’s room. Anyone interested in attending the UNI conference in April should attend the meeting to get more information.
  • Mr. Armstrong’s freshmen classes will meet in room 228, Tuesday, February 28.
  • Muscatine Youth Baseball is a non-profit organization that helps put baseball in the lives of our youth from ages 6 to 18. We want our kids to have fun and learn about the great sport of baseball. First-year players need to provide a birth certificate upon signing up. Cost is $50 per player for the 2017 season. We want every player to be eligible to play so No Player Will be Turned Away. Payment arrangements can be made. Below are the remaining dates for our 2017 sign ups.
    Wed., Feb. 22 5:30 – 7:30 pm Muscatine Mall
    Sat., Feb. 25 9 am – 3 pm Muscatine Mall
  • Study in China Scholarships – As you may have heard, through a generous gift from the Wanxiang America Corporation, Muscatine High School students are being given the opportunity to study Chinese language, culture and clean energy science for approximately 4 weeks in Hangzhou, China. Students also have the opportunity to visit various historic sites in China. This experience for our students is nearly all expenses paid. Student will only be asked to supply their own passport and personal spending money for the trip. Students will arrive in Beijing on July 6 and depart from Shanghai on August 2. This is truly a once-in-a-life time opportunity. Attached is the itinerary and a link to our website which contains all the details for how students can apply for these scholarships.   • Reminder – Excellence in Education – The following scholarships and awards are available:
    • Twenty senior scholarships ($3000 each)
    • Ten Eighth grade student scholarships ($1000 each)
    • Four professional awards ($1000 each)
    • One support staff award ($500)
      Nomination forms are available online at http://tiny.cc/exed2017  Electronic nomination forms will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on February 22, 2017.

  • Muscatine Girls Track Gear for Sale – If you are interested in buying Muscatine Girls Track gear for your family, we have set up a team store @ http://stores.teamelitesports.com/muscatine_girls_track with a portion of each purchase coming back to support Girls Track. There is a wide assortment of t-shirts, sweatshirts, long sleeves, and sweatpants, so please take a look – we’ve got gear starting at just $10.
  • Part-time and Summer Job Opportunities with Girls Scouts – The Outreach opportunities run year round and Summer Camp runs June-August. Must be 16+ years old. GS Brochure    GS Information
  • Students – If you are in the building after 4 pm and are not participating in any activity, the approved waiting areas are the Cafeteria and Commons.
  • Girls and Boys Soccer Players – If you played soccer last year, an email/link has been sent to your school email account to pre-order your soccer practice set.   • Muskie Bands still have Koeze nuts and chocolate items available!  Get yours before the product is all gone!  To purchase please call 563 299 6045 or see any band student.

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • McKinley Carnival – We need students to help run the school carnival games at McKinley School on Saturday, April 1st from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. We would need students to check in at the front office at 10:45 am. Please contact Joelle McConnaha by text at 563-260-7122 OR email at joelle.mcconnaha@mcsdonline.org.
