  • There is a Key Club Meeting this Friday, January 19th at 7:30 am in the Library Cafe. Reminder: officer nominations for 2017-2018 are due! See you there!
    Poetry Club has been rescheduled for THIS THURSDAY, Jan. 18 from 3:30-4:30 in Mrs. Walker’s room, 21-024. Feel free to bring a poem you love or one you’ve written to share. If you can’t make it this week, no worries! Poetry Club will continue each week on Thursdays after school in Mrs. Walker’s room.
  • Student/Staff of the Quarter recognition has been rescheduled for January 26th in the Commons.
  • Seniors and Senior Parents: FAFSA Completion Night – Monday, January 22, 2018 from 1:30-7:00 pm. Appointments will be 30 minutes long starting at 1:30. To schedule an appointment call the Student Services Office or email or

  • Carnival After Prom Extravaganza (CAPE) 2018 is looking for adult volunteers & committee chairs.  The CAPE Committee is in need of a Decoration Committee Chair and a Volunteers Committee Chair.  We are also in need of adult volunteers to help during the CAPE event which follows prom on April 21, 2018, at MHS (12 am – 4 am).  If you are interested, please contact Amy Fortenbacher at

  • Bowls of Hunger – January 26 during the Girls’/Boys’ bb doubleheader vs. Dav North
    5:30 to 8:00 pm (or until soup is gone) in MHS Commons
    $5 for 2 bowls of soup, bread, and a dessert
    All proceeds will be donated to MCSA (sponsored by MHS Student Council)
  • MHS Cake Auction: Feb, 2 @ 6 pm – Dreaming of Summer Fun theme Cake Auction Information

  • Black Hawk College Health Career Pathway Program for 9th-12th graders:
    Spend two Saturday mornings getting hands-on experience and interacting with BHC health sciences instructors and investigating the challenges and rewards of the following careers: Medical assisting; CNA (certified nursing assistant); Surgical technician; RN (registered nurse); EMT (emergency medical technician); and Physical therapy assistant.
    Dates and times: 2 Saturdays- January 27 and February 3 from 8:30 am-12:30 pm
    Location: Health Sciences Center Black Hawk College Quad-Cities Campus.  Fee: $99
    Registration form can be picked up in Student Services Office (online registration is NOT an option)  Deadlines: Registration ends Wednesday, January 24

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • Juntos is in the process of organizing a Juntos series at the high school. We are looking for two students interested in earning Silver Cord or volunteer hours to provide child care for the following dates: February 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and March 1st from 5:30 – 8:00 pm.
    A meal will be provided. Students who are interested can email Jennifer Zamora at
  • MCSD Food Service is looking for students who would be willing to volunteer at various elementary buildings to get the students through the breakfast line. Times would be 7:40-8:05 daily. Please email Alisha Eggers at if you are interested in volunteering.
