Prom and CAPE Info: Guest forms are available in the AP office (room 12-001B). If you plan to bring a guest to Prom or CAPE that is not attending MHS, you will need to have a guest form filled out and approved before you pick up tickets. All guests must be at least a Jr./Sr. or have graduated from high school, and cannot be older than 20 years of age. REMEMBER—CAPE is FREE and you can attend even if you do not go to Prom. If you have questions please see Mrs. Chatfield in the AP office.

  • ALL CITY SWING DANCE FOR TONIGHT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER!  Get your dancing shoes on! — The All City Swing Dance hosted by Muscatine High School Band will take place on Saturday, March 24th from 6:30p-10pm in the MHS Stan Howe Commons. Enjoy a night of jazz, swing, dancing, and desserts! The evening will feature The River City 6 band as well as MHS, CMS, and WMS jazz groups! $6/person admission, tickets sold at the door

  • Carnival After Prom Extravaganza (CAPE) 2018 is looking for adult volunteers to help during the CAPE event which follows prom on April 21, 2018, at MHS (11:30-3:30am).  This is a fun event for adults to volunteer their time and have a safe environment for our MHS students!   • Muskie Soccer Booster Store – Purchase your MHS Soccer Spirit Wear!
    Store deadline: March 31st is final deadline. (Those practice sets and warms ups won’t be available until after April 7th.
    There are a limited number of women’s warm up pants. The earlier you order the more likely you will be to get what you want.)
  • Photography Contest – Muscatine McDonalds: The Muscatine McDonald’s is looking for some unique photos from Muscatine High School students, to be permanently displayed on the walls of their restaurant! Each winners name will be displayed by the image for years to come. Entries due by April 1st. See flyer for more information!

The Iowa Youth Institute is a life-changing experience at Iowa State University where high school students engage with leaders and experts on critical global for security challenges, participate in hands- on science activities, and explore exciting ways to make a difference in Iowa and around the world.   • Port Louisa National Wildlife Refuge (near Wapello) is currently accepting applications for our Youth Conservation Corps crew for this summer! The crew, made up of (4) 15-18 year olds, works for 8 weeks in the summer on a variety of habitat conservation, biological, and maintenance jobs. Youth Conservation Corps Info
  • Sophomores & Juniors: The Muscatine Rotary club is sponsoring a youth leadership program held at Grinnell College from July 15-20 for students in the class of 2019 and 2020.
    The cost of the program is covered by the Rotary club. We encourage your students to apply using the online link. A committee will review applicants and recommend them for participation.
  • Interested in scheduling a college visit? Go to the website of the college/university you are interested to schedule an individual visit. Stop in the Student Services Office and see Ms. Milani if you have any questions or would like assistance.

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • McKinley Elementary is looking for student volunteers to help with our carnival on April the 7th. We are looking for students who are willing to work from 10:30-1:30. This would be helping with carnival games, selling tickets, etc. Volunteers will be provided with free lunch. Please text to Joelle at 260-7122 and let her know if you are interested in this opportunity to earn Silver Cord hours.
  • Volunteers are needed for the Girls’ Track Meet – Dick Washburn/Muskie Invitational on March 22nd starting at 3:45 pm.  If interested, please contact Coaches Tim Armstrong, Rebecca Harris, or Bill Flowers.
  • Volunteers are needed for the Jefferson Carnival on Friday, April 6th from 4:30-7:30. Anyone interested in volunteering can email Sarah Manjoine at before the end of March.
  • Grant Elementary School is hosting their spring carnival on Friday, March 23rd. We are looking for volunteers to run games, hand out prizes, and more from 4:30-7:30 pm. Free dinner is provided! Please contact Jessi Freers at or 263-7005 if interested.
  • Volunteers for Girl Scouts: “Want to help the at risk youth in your area? Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois is looking for volunteers! We are looking for students who want to make a difference in young girls’ lives by providing them with Girl Scout opportunities they might not otherwise have. Currently we are looking for students to help at cookie booths in Muscatine and the QC area as well as Girl Scout programs. If you are interested in hearing more or signing up to volunteer please contact the Volunteer Coordinator for your area, Amy Green, at or (563) 823-9940 x302.
  • MCC Harry Potter Festival committee is looking for volunteers on May 19th. They will need volunteers from 9 am to 6 pm. Our plan for volunteers is to divide our festival map into quadrants and divide volunteers accordingly. Areas of assistance needed will be: Some of the things we need assistance in are: greeting people, directing people where they want to go, if necessary helping bands with their stands and equipment, and running activity booths. All of these areas will be supervised by either staff members from the class, or the instructors. If interested, please contact Kayla Leming at (Staff t-shirts will be provided to all volunteers!)
  • Volunteer Camp Counselors Needed at ISU Extension & Outreach: Volunteers will assist a group of 3 – 5 youth during various day camps. May assist the instructor with setting up the camp or putting supplies away based on the type of camp. Orientation will be held in early March of 2018 and at that time the volunteers will have the opportunity to pick with days camps that they would like to assist at throughout spring break and summer.   • MCSD Food Service is looking for students who would be willing to volunteer at various elementary buildings to get the students through the breakfast line. Times would be 7:40-8:05 daily. Please email Alisha Eggers at if you are interested in volunteering.
