Prom: May 4 @ Merrill Hotel 8-11pm (Tickets will go on sale April 15th -$20 per ticket)
CAPE: May 4 starting at 11:30pm @ MHS until May 5 @3:30am (FREE but ticket is needed for entry. Sign-up will occur in April — watch for more info!)
MHS Graduation: May 26 @ 2pm in the MHS Gymnasium (No Tickets Required)

** Daily News & Information **Seniors:

  • Congratulations to Katherine Lothridge and McKayla Jordan Ross for winning the library’s Iowa High School Book Award challenge – they both won a $10 gift card to Walmart for reading over 8 of the IHSBA books for 2018-2019. Way to go!
  • Library Cafe will be closed today and all pizza will be served at Taste of Italy.
  • Freshman should report to the auditorium on Monday, April 1st, during Enrichment.
  • Sophomores should report the the auditorium during enrichment on Tuesday, April 2nd.
  • Juniors & Seniors: NEW DRESSES & SHOES ADDED! FREE PROM attire — dresses, suit jackets, pants, shirts and shoes outside the Main Office – Rm 11-001. Check them out before school, during lunch or after school. Various sizes and styles. See Mrs. Borde with any questions.
  • The Muscatine Civic Chorale presents “Misa a Buenos Aires” by Martin Palmeri at 7:00 pm, Thursday, April 4 at Ss. Mary and Mathias Catholic Church, 215 West 8th Street, Muscatine. The performance features bandoneon virtuoso Richard Scofano. The concert is free and open to the public. Members of the Chorale and instrumentalists include MCSD staff members Annette Hovland, Deb Paulsen, Jon Thoma and Gail Pusateri as well as MHS graduate Nathan Paulsen.

  • TONIGHT! The FFA Banquet is Thursday, March 28th at the AG Center starting at 5pm.
  • LOOKING FOR ALL PAST GRANT ELEMENTARY STUDENTS!!  If you attended Grant, we would like your help! Please video yourself giving a nice message to a Grant teacher.  You may say things such as “you are my favorite teacher because…” or “I appreciated when you…”, “Thank you for…” or whatever else you can come up with.  Email your short 15-30 second video clip to
  • A representative from the Air Force National Guard will be available to speak with in the student services office during Muskie Time on April 2nd.  Please sign up under Mr. Welsch’s name if interested.

  • MHS Dance Team Information Meeting: On Wednesday, April 3 there will be an informational meeting held for the 2019-2020 season of the MHS dance team from 3:45-4:30 in the
    MHS Commons. If you are interested in participating, please plan to attend this very important meeting to learn about the tryout process for this year.
  • Soccer Work Day is April 28th.  If you would like to hire 2 soccer players for 2 hours for $60 to do yard work, etc., please contact Dana Kraft at 
    Players – check your school emails to sign-up to work. This is a required activity!

  • Iowa High School Book Award Voting: Students are encouraged to vote for their favorite Iowa High School Book Award Book for 2018-2019. Use this link to vote! Voting ends Friday, March 29th and students need to have read at least one book from the list to participate.

  • Port Louisa National Wildlife Refuge Summer Job Opportunities – Youth Conservation Corps. Applications available in Student Services. Youth Conservation Corps. Info
  • Seniors who had Economics with Mrs. Tometich or Mrs Spencer. Mrs. Tometich has the forms to fill out for the EverFi Financial Literacy Program. Please stop by room 23-007 to pick up forms and confirm eligibility. This is a $500 scholarship and you will need to fill out an application and submit it to First National Bank by April 13th.
  • Lost & Found is located at the MHS Attendance Center. If you have lost an item, please inquire at the Attendance Center.
  • Muskie Store is Open! The district has partnered with Phelps Custom Apparel to offer our staff, families, and community Muskie Apparel! This online store does not close meaning that it remains open for all of your Muskie clothing needs throughout the year.

  • Student Parking Tags: In order to park on school grounds at MHS, it is required that you purchase and display a parking tag. Parking tags may be purchased at the Attendance Office after presenting a completed “MHS Vehicle Registration” form. The cost is $25.00.  Failure to purchase and display a parking tag will result in a $5 fine for each offense.

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • Jefferson Elementary is looking for volunteers to work the Jefferson Carnival on Friday, April 12 from 430-7. Each volunteer will get a voucher for a piece of pizza and pop. If you are interested in helping out please email Sarah Manjoine at
  • McKinley Spring Carnival: The Annual McKinley Carnival is right around the corner (April 6) and we are in need of volunteers to help run games and do Face Painting at the event.  Most games require 2-3 volunteers, so recruit a friend and join us for a good time.  You can sign up at this link or call McKinley Elementary at 263-9049!
  • Madison elementary is looking for MHS student volunteers who love STEM to help facilitate a small group of STEM activities in our gym.  The date is April 9th from 5-7pm. Please email if interested.
  • Meals on Wheels Volunteers Needed: Deliver Meals for Seniors Saturdays & holidays. Meals are picked up at Trinity. It takes about an hour to deliver a route. A route consists of delivering 8- 10 meals. Training is provided by riding along with current volunteers to learn route. A valid driver’s license (or a licensed driver to transport you) is required.   • Food Service is looking for MHS students to help other students with breakfast cards & getting through the serving lines at elementary schools. Especially, Jefferson, McKinley, Franklin & Madison! Please contact Alisha Eggers at 563-263-7223 or
