  • AP Psychology students next year – There will be a short meeting for students taking AP Psychology, this Friday during 1st part of enrichment. If you are unable to attend please email Mr. Stoltzfus at
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology students next year – Please stop by Mr. Johnson’s room (128) to join next year’s Google Classrooms.  There are a few beneficial assignments that will significantly impact the the beginning of your school year.
  • NO SOAP this week.  Make plans for a year-end yearbook picnic on the 26th!  Good luck with finals!
  • Students – If you have medication in the nurse’s office, you need to pick it up before the Summer break.  Medications left in the nurse’s office will be discarded.
  • Freshman, Sophomores, and JuniorsAll library books and materials are due by Friday, May 20th.
  • The library will be closed all day this Friday, May 20th for senior cap & gown pick-up. The library will only be available to students who are using the printer, returning books, or paying fines.
  • AP US History and AP Government students for next year – Please stop by Mr. Clancy’s room 11-035 to pick up your summer homework packet.
  • AP Stats students for next year – Please stop by Mrs. Hirschfeld’s room AA38 to pick up a book and summer homework.  If you have not picked up and completed your summer homework by the first day of school, then you potentially may be dropped from AP Stats and placed into the regular Stats and Prob class.
  • Summer sports program pictures for baseball & softball will on Thursday, May 19th. We will start with Baseball at 3:30 followed by Softball at approximately 4:00.
  • Students taking AP Lang. and Comp. in the 2016/2017 school year need to attend an informational meeting in Mrs. Fallon’s room, room 21-022, on Wednesday, May 18th from 3:30-3:45. If you are unable to attend this meeting, please email or meet with Mrs. Fallon to obtain necessary information regarding coursework. Email:
  • Class of 2016 – There will be a Pancake Breakfast for seniors this Friday, May 20, from 9-10 AM in the Commons.

  • Girls’ Basketball – Open gyms will resume for the summer on Wednesday, June 1. Please see Ms. Hansen in Room 11-024 if you need a summer schedule.
  • Students & Parents/Guardians  – Please check your child or children’s outstanding fee/fine balances online at or by contacting your school directly.  Payments can be made online by logging on with your PowerSchool information, in person at MHS or at the Board Office.  Senior balances will be finalized by the end of the business day on Wednesday, May 18th. All other balances will be finalized by the end of the day on Monday, May 30th.
  • Eliminate Week – This week Key Club will be collecting donations for Eliminate Week. Eliminate uses donations to help cure neonatal tetanus. Neonatal tetanus is the cause of many infant and mother deaths, and is caused by non-sterile delivery.  In order to eliminate this, Key Club will be collecting pennies on Monday, nickels on Tuesday, dimes on Wednesday, quarters on Thursday, and dollars on Friday (Although all change is welcome).
  • Muscatine FFA Plant Sale at the MHS Greenhouse May 19-20,  Thursday and Friday 7:30 AM – 6 PM.  See attachment for more information.

  • Volleyball Information – All girls that intend on participating in volleyball this year, the Spring/Summer schedule is out and available to be picked up in the AD’s office – see Mrs. Watson. If you have any questions please contact Coach Martin.

  • College 4 Kids Volunteers – If you love hands on classes and would like to help younger children, this is the opportunity for you!!  College 4 Kids is in need of volunteers June 13-June 24 at Central Middle School from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. ** Scholarships **

The Rove Pest Control Scholarship – Applicants must be attending college by the Fall 2017 semester and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship is open to anyone seeking a higher education.  Deadline: December 31, 2016.  Application: Only online applications will be accepted. The application can be found at:

The NROTC Scholarship is a full-ride scholarship ($180,000) to any university that has an NROTC program. Upon graduating from college, they will be commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, leading Marines as young 22 year old! NROTC scholarship recipients will be debt free from students loans and have a guaranteed career with starting pay and allowances of up to $60,000! Some nearby schools are Iowa State University, University of Nebraska, University of Illinois, and Marquette University. Please stop in Student Services for more information.

Children’s Cancer Connection Empower Scholarship – Applications for the fall Semester are due May 27, 2016. American Legion Auxiliary – 2016 Iowa Department Merit Award Application.  Deadline is June 1, 2016.  American Legion Auxiliary Application

Iowa Section Professional Golfers’ Association, the Iowa PGA Foundation offers an annual scholarship opportunity in memory on one of its members – Charlie Burkart. This scholarship is open to any graduating senior within our section boundaries and any graduating student of an Iowa high school. It is awarded every year to one recipient. The winner will receive $1000 each year of full-time attendance for four years at a college or university of their choice. Deadline is June 15, 2016.
PGA Golf Scholarship

Aspiring Nurse Scholarship:  Nursing Schools Almanac has just launched its second annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. Our website will award a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse who best demonstrates:  A track record of academic excellence, particularly in science and mathematics & A passion for the nursing profession and the overall field of health care. This scholarship is open to all high school seniors who plan to pursue a college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs.
