** Summer AP Assignments **

  • 2018-2019 AP Lang students please stop by Mr. Kinsey’s room​ 21-037, before the end of the year to review the summer homework and reading.
  • 2018-2019 AP Literature students please stop by Mr. Guerra’s room​ 21-033, before the end of the year to review the summer homework and join the AP Literature Google Classroom.

** Daily News & Information **

  • MHS Wrestling: All wrestlers & anyone interested in wrestling next year need to attend this meeting in Coach Kane’s classroom (12-015) Wednesday, May 23rd at 12:20 pm during lunch.  Be on time, meeting should only last 10 minutes!
  • Boys’ Track: Any boys’ track team member who has not turned in their uniform items will turn them in after school on Tuesday (May 22) in the track storage room by the wrestling room. Athletes will be billed for any items missing after the turn in on Tuesday.
  • Girls’ Track: All track gear should be turned in this week to Coach Armstrong, Harris, or Flowers.
  • Senior Resources is looking for dependable, hardworking Chore Workers to provide lawn care services for Seniors in our community. Positions open immediately. $10 per hour!! Workers must be 16 years or older to apply and must be able to pass a background check & have their own equipment. Applications can be picked up at 1808 Mulberry Avenue, Muscatine for more information, call Laura Vargas at (563) 263-7292
  • Seniors – Jostens Graduation Balances: Students that have a balance with their Jostens’ order  pay with cash or money orders on May 25th (Cap & Gown Pick up) or call 1-800-JOSTENS (567-8367) to pay by credit card. Items will not be able to be picked up unless they are paid for. 
  • Seniors: Senior obligations are posted outside of Student Services by student ID#. If you have fees or fines to pay please go to Attendance to pay them by noon on May 25th. For questions regarding fines/fees contact finance at the Board Office at 563-263-7223.
  • MHS Food Services Info: 
    • Café & Lunch Box WILL CLOSE for the school year on May 23
    • Taste of Italy WILL CLOSE for the school year on May 24
    • Passport & Tailgaters WILL CLOSE for the school year on May 30
    • Sub Line will stay open while supplies last
  • Class of 2019, 2020 & 2021: You may now log into PowerSchool and view your schedule for 2018-2019. If you have any questions or concerns please schedule an appointment with your grade level counselor. Please use the below URL that will point show you a screenshot of the list of links inside of students’ accounts.   
     Note: You may need to log out of PowerSchool and log back in to see this functionality.
  • Boys’ Cross Country: There will be an informational meeting for any boy interested in XC. Come to Mr .Foxen’s room (11-033 first floor new wing) during the 1st part of lunch Monday, May 21st. The meeting will be brief, but is important to the team’s success next season.
  • Yearbooks: If you pre-ordered a yearbook and were unable to pick up your pre-ordered book, they will be at the Attendance Center.
  • Yearbooks: If you didn’t order a yearbook but would like to buy one they will be for sale at the Attendance Center starting Thursday morning at 7:45am for $56 on a first come, first serve basis.
  • Pizza Ranch is Hiring! Delivery drivers/Caterers (Must be 18 with clean driving record), Kitchen staff, Front of the house. Day and Night hours available. Applications available at Pizza Ranch or online at or in MHS Student Services.
  • Team Staffing Solutions has summer job opportunities available! Must be 18 years or older to apply. We can help graduated students build their resume and gain professional experience. Apply online at:
  • Summer Employment Opportunity: Corn Detasseling – Must be 14 years old by June 26, 2018. Workers will need to attend a safety meeting June 26th from 5:45-8:00 pm at MCC . Applications are available in the Student Services Office.
  • Junior Tennis Tournament: The Junior Tennis Tournament is scheduled for July 14-15, 2018. The Boys will be playing at the MHS High School Courts and the Girls will be competing at the Weed Park Courts.   • Interested in scheduling a college visit? Go to the website of the college/university you are interested to schedule an individual visit. Stop in the Student Services Office and see Ms. Milani if you have any questions or would like assistance.

** Muskie Pride ** (read the Muscatine Journal for detailed info)

  • Tyler Olson set a new school record of 1:53.56 in the Boys’ Class 4A 800 meter run and takes 2nd place at the State Track Meet. This was a PR for Tyler that broke the record that was set in 1981 by Paul Eggers. Congratulations Tyler!

  • Congratulations to Owen Hazelwood, Tyler Olson, Isaac Heth, and Noah Yahn on setting a new school record (3:23:37) in the 4×400 at the State Track Meet.
  • Congratulations to Aaron Web, Noah Yahn, Owen Hazelwood, and Tevin Tovar on running a season best (3:38.02) in the 1600 Distance Medley at the State Track Meet.

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • Volunteer Camp Counselors Needed for 4-H Youth: Will be assisting a group of 3 to 5 youth during various day camps. May assist the instructor with setting up the camp or putting supplies away and that is based on the type of camp. For more information or if interested, please contact Dana Yerington: or (563) 263-5701.
  • MCC Harry Potter Festival committee is looking for volunteers on May 19th. They will need volunteers from 9 am to 6 pm. Our plan for volunteers is to divide our festival map into quadrants and divide volunteers accordingly. Areas of assistance needed will be: Some of the things we need assistance in are: greeting people, directing people where they want to go, if necessary helping bands with their stands and equipment, and running activity booths. All of these areas will be supervised by either staff members from the class, or the instructors. If interested, please contact Kayla Leming at (Staff t-shirts will be provided to all volunteers!)
  • MCSD Food Service is looking for students who would be willing to volunteer at various elementary buildings to get the students through the breakfast line. Times would be 7:40-8:05 daily. Please email Alisha Eggers at if you are interested in volunteering.
