2018-19 2nd Semester Finals Schedule:  2018-19 2nd Semester Finals Schedule

MHS Graduation: May 26 @ 2pm in the MHS Gymnasium 
Doors will open to the public at 1pm for seating.  There will also be seating/viewing area in the Cafeteria.
NO TICKET is required to attend the graduation ceremony.
Handicap seating is available at the back of the gym.
No air horns, cowbells, etc. are allowed.

  • Orientation for 2019/2020 Concurrent Students at MHS
    • If you requested to take a concurrent college class offered at MHS, please plan to attend an orientation. Orientation sessions will be held during the day of Wednesday, May 29th. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.
    • Orientations will be held in the MHS Commons at 8:30am, 10:00am, 4:00pm and 5:00pm.
      In order to complete the registration for this class you must have an active college application on file with Muscatine Community College, one of Eastern Iowa Community Colleges.

  • There are 20 yearbooks for sale at the Attendance Center. Get yours today for $56!
  • MuscaBus offers free route bus rides to students K-12, including graduating seniors, for the summer. This goes from June 5 to August 22. Our service runs 6:30am to 5:00pm M-F and 8:30 to 4:00 on Saturday.

  • SENIORS: May 23 & 24 Schedule:
    • Thursday, May 23
      • Senior Obligations/Pick-up Cap & Gown: 10am – 2pm in the Library
        Turn in books, laptop/accessories, pay fines (if any), pick up cap and gown
    • Friday, May 24
      • Senior Walk @ Elementary School: Arrive by 8:15am in your cap and gown (NO TASSEL), and load buses in front of MHS based upon the elementary school you attended. (There will be signs on the buses so you will know which bus to get on.) If you did not attend an MCSD elementary school, you will choose a building to visit. The buses will depart for each elementary building by 8:30am. They should arrive at their building no later than 8:45am. You will parade through the elementary halls getting high fives and congratulations from the kids and teachers. The whole program should take 10-15 minutes. The students will then load the buses and return back to the high school.
      • Senior Breakfast in the Commons will take place after you return from the elementary schools (approx. 9:15am)
      • Graduation Walk Through Practice will take place in the Gym (approx. 10am).
        This should take a maximum of one hour. Please make sure you pay attention to the instructions!
  • SENIORS: Sunday, May 26: Graduation
    Arrive by 1pm and find your area — listed alphabetically by last name. Remember to bring your cap, gown, and tassel! If you received an AP Medal during Academic Awards, please bring that as well!
    Final grades, diploma and other important information will be handed out after graduation at the Attendance Center.
  • Silver Cord Opportunity: Anyone interested in helping clean up after the graduation ceremony on Sunday, May 26th, please Judy Heil or Mrs. Borde.
  • Cheer Tryouts: Anyone interested in trying out for Cheer next year, please stop in the AD Office to pick up a tryout packet.
  • Girls’ Golf: Just a reminder that the banquet is Wednesday night at 5:30pm at Pizza Ranch. Parents are welcome to attend.
  • Yoga this week:
    Friday: 6th & 7th
  • Teen Driving Study at the University of Iowa for males who are 15 or 16 years old. Participants will be paid up to $225 for their time and effort. Teen Driving Study Info
  • MHS Boy’s Soccer will be participating in Buffalo Wild Wings “Home Team Advantage” fundraising program starting May 20 through June 20. All you need to do is simply mention “TEAM M” to your server and 10% of your bill will go the MHS Boys’ Soccer program. This applies for take out orders as well!  BWW Home Team Advantage Flyer
  • There will be a meeting on Friday, May 24th during enrichment for those taking
    AP Physics 1 next year in Ms. Yoose’s room (11-016).
  • There will be a meeting on Tuesday, May 28th during enrichment for those taking
    AP Calculus AB next year in Mrs. Yoose’s room (11-016).
  • Color Guard Information Meeting: There will a Color Guard informational meeting for members, perspective members, and parents on Thursday, May 30th at 7pm in the High School Band Room. We will introduce guard leadership, talk about the summer and fall schedules along with expectations and time commitments.   • MHS Disc Golf Club will be meet each Thursday from 4:15-5:30 for the rest of the school year at the high school disc golf course. (located behind the football field)
  • Seniors who took college classes in high school and are requesting your Muscatine/Eastern Iowa Community College transcript get sent to another institution.
    Go to:
    Transcripts are ordered online through our transcript ordering center; National Student Clearinghouse. When ordering:

    • You will need to know your student college ID#.
      If you do not know your ID#, please email MCC rep Anabelia at or call her at 563-288-6035.
    • If you are currently in a concurrent class, make sure to select to have your transcript sent “after grades are posted”
    • Lastly, to complete the ordering process you will need a debit or credit card.
  • Boys’ Cross Country Meeting: An informational meeting will be held for any boy wanting to challenge themselves in the upcoming cross-country season. Please attend a meeting of importance on Friday, May 24th during Muskie Time in Mr. Foxen’s room 11-033 first-floor new wing. E-mail or see Coach Foxen with questions.
  • FRESHMAN-JUNIORS: All library books and materials are due on Wednesday, May 29th, 2019.
    If you need to keep a book longer for a class assignment, please contact Mrs. Keltner.
  • Summer Employment Opportunity: Corn Detasseling – Must be at least 14 years old by June 18, 2019. Workers will need to attend a safety meeting June 18th from 5:45-8:00 pm at MCC. Applications are available in the Student Services Office.

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • Muscatine 2nd Saturday is a non-profit organization under the Community Foundation of Greater Muscatine, and we are looking for volunteers. Volunteers would help with anything from setting up or tearing down barricades, to supervising family friendly activities – for example, simple rock decorating, sidewalk chalk drawing, & some light sport activities at times (all materials are provided). We will also be partnering with Special Olympics, Big Brothers Big Sisters for their “Over the Edge” fundraiser, as well as other local charities and businesses. Officially, Second Saturday is a once a month arts and music street fest to be held on 2nd Street from Cedar to Iowa and on Iowa from Mississippi Drive to 3rd Street the second Saturday of every month from May to October.   • The Muscatine Art Center is hosting an Ice Cream Social on Sunday, June 30th from 1-5pm. Volunteers are needed to help run games, work in the art studio and help with various crafts and activities. For more information contact Katy Loos @ 563-263-8282.
  • Muscatine County Extension Day Camp Volunteers Needed: will assist a group of 3 – 5 youth during various day camps. May assist the instructor with setting up the camp or putting supplies away, plus other duties as needed with camps. Orientation will be held in late May of 2019 and at that time the volunteers will have the opportunity to pick which days camps that they would like to assist at throughout the summer.   • Muscatine Heart Study located in the old Muscatine Hotel is looking for students to earn silver cord hours by helping them with their office work.  Hours are flexible as they are open 10am-8pm Monday-Thursday. Contact 264-3886 for more information or to set up a time to work.

** Summer Camps **

  • 2019 Muscatine Summer Wrestling Camp will be held on August 1-2 from 8am-12pm both days in the MHS wrestling room for grades 2-8. All abilities welcome and the cost is $50 before July 15 or $65 after July 15. 2019

  • 2019 Muscatine Girls’ 5th-8th Grade Basketball Camp – June 26-28, 9am-12pm @ VanHecke Center. Cost is $50.  5th-8th Grade Girls’ Basketball Camp Info

  • St. Ambrose Summer Camps. From engineering to piano, high schoolers can find something great to get them excited about learning! Find out more or register by going to!
    • PIANO CAMP: June 24-28, grades 9-12
      Students will participate in daily lessons, group seminar, theory/composition class, piano ensemble call, and supervised practices. On the last day, campers will present a concert.  Cost: $225 – Time: 5 days
    • ENGINEERING BOOT CAMP: June 26-28, grades 9-12
      Students will complete hands-on projects to develop skills in team working, problem solving, and communication.
      Cost: $200 – Time: 3 days, 2 overnights
    • FASCINATING HUMAN BODY CAMP: June 26-27, grades 11-12
      Students will explore the marvels of human body anatomy using cadavers.
      Cost: $75 Time: 2 days, 1 overnight

** Fundraisers **

  • The Muscatine High School Dance Team will be selling Love Your Melon cuffed beanies with our Muskie logo on them. The hats will not only help us to raise money for our team, but they will raise money for the efforts of Love Your Melon. Love Your Melon is an apparel brand dedicated to giving a hat to every child battling cancer and supporting the fight against pediatric cancer.
