  • Yearbook Delivery – There was an issue with yearbook delivery and the yearbooks are not going to be coming in today.  Students will be notified ASAP when the books will be in.
  • PE Lockers – Please make certain that PE lockers are cleaned out by Thursday, May 26 by 11:30 AM.  Thursday afternoon, all items left in PE lockers will be cleaned out and donated to Goodwill.
  • Laptop Turn-In – All Laptops are due back by Thursday afternoon, May 26, in the MHS Tech Office. Any damage or missing devices will be assessed a fee.  If you have any questions please contact members of the technology department.

    Early Laptop Turn-In Available – Please check with your teachers before turning in.  If you are no longer needing your laptop for the remainder of the year, the Tech Department is accepting Laptop Turn-ins. We ask that if you do decide to turn in your laptop early, please include all accessories that were given to you. Any missing parts or damages will result in an assessed fee.  You will not be getting these laptops back so make sure that if you have any personal or school related data/pictures/music/videos that you don’t want to lose, back those up to a flash drive, external hard drive, your Google Drive or somewhere else.
  • Boy’s Cross-Country – Any boy wanting information about summer practices please see Coach Foxen in room 11-033 or email at
  • Boys Track and Field Uniform Reminder – Please hand in your uniform Wednesday, May 25th after period 6 final. Meet in the locker room right outside coach’s office. If you cannot make this time bring uniform to Coach Foxen in a bag to Room 11-033.
  • SOAP meets this Thursday from 6:30-8:00 at Fuller Park.  Bring snacks/drinks, games, yearbooks. Celebrate the end of the school year together!
  • Students – Just a reminder that even though you may be done with your final exams next week, the students and staff at Central and West are still in session, so you will not be able to visit during school hours.
  • Wrestling Informational Meeting on Tuesday, May 24th at 6 PM in the Commons. Anyone interested in wrestling next year should attend.
  • Students – If you have medication in the nurse’s office, you need to pick it up before the Summer break.  Medications left in the nurse’s office will be discarded.
  • Sports Physicals – Palmer Chiropractic College will be at Central Middle School (CMS) on Thursday, May 26 from 2:15 – 4:15 PM.  Cost is $10.  Physicals are available for middle and high school students. If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Watson at
  • Girls Cross Country Meeting – There will be a meeting Thursday, May 26 at 6:00 PM in the Cafeteria for any girl interested in cross country.  Parents are encouraged to attend.  Treats may be provided. Contact Coach Armstrong if unable to attend.

  • AP Psychology students in the 2016/2017 school year – There will be a short meeting for students taking AP Psychology, this Friday during 1st part of enrichment. If you are unable to attend please email Mr. Stoltzfus at
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology students in the 2016/2017 school year – Please stop by Mr. Johnson’s room (128) to join next year’s Google Classrooms.  There are a few beneficial assignments that will significantly impact the beginning of your school year.

  • AP US History and AP Government students in the 2016/2017 school year – Please stop by Mr. Clancy’s room 11-035 to pick up your summer homework packet.
  • AP Stats students in the 2016/2017 school year – Please stop by Mrs. Hirschfeld’s room AA38 to pick up a book and summer homework.  If you have not picked up and completed your summer homework by the first day of school, then you potentially may be dropped from AP Stats and placed into the regular Stats and Prob class.

  • Students & Parents/Guardians  – Please check your child or children’s outstanding fee/fine balances online at or by contacting your school directly.  Payments can be made online by logging on with your PowerSchool information, in person at MHS or at the Board Office.  Senior balances will be finalized by the end of the business day on Wednesday, May 18th. All other balances will be finalized by the end of the day on Monday, May 30th.

The Rove Pest Control Scholarship – Applicants must be attending college by the Fall 2017 semester and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship is open to anyone seeking a higher education.  Deadline: December 31, 2016.  Application: Only online applications will be accepted. The application can be found at:

The NROTC Scholarship is a full-ride scholarship ($180,000) to any university that has an NROTC program. Upon graduating from college, they will be commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, leading Marines as young 22 year old! NROTC scholarship recipients will be debt free from students loans and have a guaranteed career with starting pay and allowances of up to $60,000! Some nearby schools are Iowa State University, University of Nebraska, University of Illinois, and Marquette University. Please stop in Student Services for more information.

Children’s Cancer Connection Empower Scholarship – Applications for the fall Semester are due May 27, 2016. American Legion Auxiliary – 2016 Iowa Department Merit Award Application.  Deadline is June 1, 2016.  American Legion Auxiliary Application

Iowa Section Professional Golfers’ Association, the Iowa PGA Foundation offers an annual scholarship opportunity in memory on one of its members – Charlie Burkart. This scholarship is open to any graduating senior within our section boundaries and any graduating student of an Iowa high school. It is awarded every year to one recipient. The winner will receive $1000 each year of full-time attendance for four years at a college or university of their choice. Deadline is June 15, 2016.
PGA Golf Scholarship

Aspiring Nurse Scholarship:  Nursing Schools Almanac has just launched its second annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. Our website will award a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse who best demonstrates:  A track record of academic excellence, particularly in science and mathematics & A passion for the nursing profession and the overall field of health care. This scholarship is open to all high school seniors who plan to pursue a college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs.
