- Girls’ Basketball: Open gym next week is on Monday (6:30-8:00pm) and Thursday (5:30-7:00pm) in the main gym.
- FCA: Lunch meeting in Ms. Hansen’s room on Monday at noon! We’ll finish up our series on Ruth, enjoy some pizza, and talk about the year-end gathering.
- 2nd Annual Muskie Baseball Hit-A-Thon – Come out to Tom Bruner Field on Friday, May 13th for a night of fun and to kick-off the 2016 Muskie Baseball season. Gates open at 4pm with a Muskie Alum HR derby beginning around 7pm. There will be a speed pitch, autographed Muskie Baseball bat, raffle for Muskie Baseball apparel, a burrito for a year from Mami’s Authentic, Major League Baseball tickets, White Sox autographed baseball, TAT 2 Bats and more.
- Eliminate Week – Next week Key Club will be collecting donations for Eliminate Week. Eliminate uses donations to help cure neonatal tetanus. Neonatal tetanus is the cause of many infant and mother deaths, and is caused by non sterile delivery. In order to eliminate this, Key Club will be collecting pennies on Monday, nickels on Tuesday, dimes on Wednesday, quarters on Thursday, and dollars on Friday (Although all change is welcome).

- 4th Annual MCSD Race for Schools in on May 7, 2016. Registration forms are available at the Attendance Office.
- The MHS Bands will hold their final concert of the school year on Tuesday, May 10th, at the Muscatine High School Auditorium, at 7:30 PM. The concert will be the final performance by the senior band members, and will include two featured (secret) guest conductors on the program. Admission will be $4/adult, $2/student. $10/family. All passes accepted. Please join MHS Bands for the final concert of 2016!
- Seniors & Parents/Guardians of Seniors – An important reminder from the MCSD Food and Nutrition Dept. – If you received a letter from the MCSD Food and Nutrition Dept. regarding money left in your student’s food account (Seniors students only), and have not returned it, please return it by May 16th. If the letter is not returned by May 16th, we will assume that is is acceptable to donate leftover money to the MHS PTO meal fund.
- Girls Golf on May 12 vs. Assumption has been moved from Municipal Golf Course in Muscatine. It will now be played at Emeis Golf Course in Davenport at 1pm.
- Seniors – All Silver Cord hours need to be turned in to Mrs. Anderson by May 6th, 2016.
- Academic Awards Assembly – Thursday, May 12th @ 9:00 AM in the gym. Parents are invited to attend the Awards Assembly.
- High School Softball – If you are interested in playing softball this year, there will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, May 4th during lunch in room 11-022. If you have questions see Coach Stoltzfus.
- High School Softball Tryouts begin next week, Monday, May 9th through Thursday, May 12 at Kent Stein Field #4 from 4-6pm. If you have questions please see Coach Stoltzfus.
- Seniors – All library books and materials are due by Tuesday, May 10th. If you need to keep a book longer for a class assignment, please contact Mrs. Keltner. Also, a reminder that all library fines need to be taken care of before graduation.

- All students interested in the Work-Based Learning Manufacturing Program need to have applications with references completed and turned in to Mr. Kitzmann no later than Friday, May 13th.
- Summer Work Opportunity – Attention students! If you are interested in earning some money this summer, please stop by Student Services to pick up information about detasseling.
- CAPE Committee Members needed for next year. We have several CAPE committee member positions that need to be filled for next year — Chair and Co-chair, Treasurer, Games…and possibly a couple more. This would ensure that CAPE plans for next year would not be interrupted or delayed. We have at least 5 parents of Seniors that want to step down and allow others to take over their positions. - Muskie Booster Members Needed! The Muskie Boosters are currently recruiting new board members for the 2016-2017 Board. Board members help with special events like Fall kick-off, Cake Auction, etc. also helping with concession volunteers. The Muskie Boosters support all MHS sports, activities, clubs, etc raising funds and helping keep the activities/sports going. STARTALK grant from the National Security Agency. The grant supports high school kids to study Chinese this summer at the University of Iowa from July 5-29 to earn college credits. The Rove Pest Control Scholarship – Applicants must be attending college by the Fall 2017 semester and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. This scholarship is open to anyone seeking a higher education. The NROTC Scholarship is a full-ride scholarship ($180,000) to any university that has an NROTC program. Upon graduating from college, they will be commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, leading Marines as young 22 year old! NROTC scholarship recipients will be debt free from students loans and have a guaranteed career with starting pay and allowances of up to $60,000! Iowa Section Professional Golfers’ Association, the Iowa PGA Foundation offers an annual scholarship opportunity in memory on one of its members – Charlie Burkart. This scholarship is open to any graduating senior within our section boundaries and any graduating student of an Iowa high school. It is awarded every year to one recipient. Aspiring Nurse Scholarship: Nursing Schools Almanac has just launched its second annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship.
