Go Muskies!
- Students that have their computers locked, please bring it to Officer Pena, Mr. Johns, Mr. Phipps, Mr. Sharar, or Mr. Lawrence. Computers can be unlocked beginning TODAY!, Dec. 15. Please make sure you get this done before finals begin on 12/17/14.
- JV B Swim @ Clinton JV Invite will be held on Monday, December 15 (not on Tuesday, December 16 as originally scheduled). The Invite will be held at Clinton High School and start at 5:00 P.M.
- The MHS Vocal Music Department will present their annual Holiday Concert on Monday, December 15th at 7:30PM in the the MHS Auditorium! Come support the arts and enjoy some wonderful holiday music, including the Hallelujah Chorus as Acapella’s grand finale. Admission is $3 for students and $5 for adults. Free with activity pass or Staff ID.
- Welding students will be selling “Snowmen” again this year for $25.00. We made 20 and they usually sell very fast! Please contact Paul Hein @ paul.hein@mcsdonline.org to get yours personalized today! See photo.

- STUDENTS OF MHS: Come to the Media Center with your library book to RENEW or RETURN this TUESDAY, Dec. 16, and receive a sweet treat! You may also check out a book in the Media Center and when you do, you will receive a sweet treat, too! Come and get it! (This holiday vacation is a great time to read a good book!)
- French students considering traveling to France in Spring 2016 are invited — along with their parents — to an informational meeting this Wednesday, December 17 at 7:00 pm in Room 201. Please let Mme Paulsen know if you are planning to attend.
- Model UN: Students attending the Chicago and New York trips, we will have a parent meeting on Thursday, December 18 at 5:00pm in Ms. Hansen’s room (133).
- SAVE THE DATE! The 2015 Muscatine Cake Auction will be Friday, February 13th. The theme this year will be: Friday, the 13th.
- MHS Girls and Boys Bowling vs. North Scott on December 15 has been rescheduled for January 20 at Plamor Lanes, 5:00 P.M. start.
- The Encore! Show Choir t-shirt has been designed and submitted to the printing company, and it’s time to bring in the orders! You can find the design and the order form online at www.muscatinevocalmusic.org under “Resources and Links” and “Encore Show Choir Resources”. T-shirts are only $12, with baseball tees and crew neck sweatshirts only $18 (prices include shipping, add $2 for sizes of 2XL – 5XL). Payment must be included with the order form, which you can either print off or pick up from Mrs. Burford at school. Submit all orders to Mrs. Burford (in person or mailbox). Orders are due next Thursday, December 18th, so make sure to get your shirts ASAP!

- If you have not purchased a yearbook for this school year, you can still buy them for $56 through the Attendance Office until February 20th. Last year, we ran out of the “extra” books we ordered very quickly, so to ensure that you get a book at the end of the year, be sure to purchase one by February 20th!
- Yearbooks from 2013-2014 that have not been picked up are being sold. These will be sold on a first come, first serve basis for $40 out of Ms. Brown’s room, 21-035. Cash or check will be accepted – (checks written out to MHS).
- The MHS Attendance Office has a new phone number. It is 563-263-6616. Please use this number when calling in for your student regarding any attendance issue.
- Seniors: If any of you are expecting or need to send a transcript to a school that needs to arrive sometime during the Christmas Break (some schools have a Jan. 1 deadline), please make every attempt to do this prior to leaving for winter break. Mrs. Edkin, our registrar, can send these out for you now. Simply stop in and fill out a transcript request form or email her. She may not be available immediately during the break to send these out therefore deadlines could be in jeopardy. Thank you in advance for getting these done prior to leaving for winter break on Dec. 19th.
- The Muskie Library will have extended hours for finals week! During finals week (Monday 12/15 – Thursday 12/18) the library will be open from 7:30am – 7:00pm. Students are encouraged to come use the extra study time to prepare for semester tests or final projects – snacks (brain food) will be served from 5:00-7:00pm. Good Luck, Muskie Nation!

- The Muskie Band’s Annual Nut Fundraiser is underway! Order cashews, mixed nuts, puddles (turtles), and chocolate dipped cherries and blueberries now – they make great holiday gifts or a treat for yourself! For a flyer with pictures and prices, or to make a purchase, call Janet Clark at 299-0019, email mclark@machlink.com, or talk to any of the MHS band students. Walk-ins are welcome at the band’s “nut house” at 1700 Park Ave. (southwest corner of the Vision Center PC building). Hours are every Tues. evening from 6-7:30 pm and Sat. morning from 10 am till noon until Dec. 20, so buy now while we have a large selection available! Nuts are also available at O’Donnell Ace Hardware, 1420 Park Ave., during regular store hours.

Senior Scholarships
National Wild Turkey Federation Muscatine Chapter Scholarship: This scholarship is for graduating seniors. Application and details are available at www.nwtf.org/jakes. Due date is January 1, 2015
Muscatine County Cattlemen’s Scholarship: This $500 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior. Parents must be members of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association. Application is available is MHS Student Services. Due Date is January 10, 2015.
Dorothy Klindt Memorial Scholarship (Iowa State University): This $1000 renewable scholarship is for graduating seniors enrolling in the College of Human Sciences. Student must be accepted to ISU prior to March 1st. Details on the scholarship and the application can be found at: http://www.financialaid.iastate.edu/scholarships/

Grand Lodge of Iowa, A.F & A.M. Technical Scholarships (Mark Earl and Esther Ruth Spencer Technical Scholarships): This scholarship is for graduating seniors who plan to enroll in a mechanical or trade course of study at an accredited Iowa Community College. University of Iowa Presidential Scholarship is now available at http://admissions.uiowa.edu/finances/scholarships-first-year-students.

- Bandit Scholars: 1 year of tuition at University of Iowa, Western Illinois University or Blackhawk College. Recipient also receives a Summer Internship with the River Bandits following their freshman year. (Interview with the Bandits Scholars Committee is required.)
- Diana DePover-Nesseler Memorial Scholarship: (renewable) Applicants must be female, planning to attend a community college in the Quad City area and working toward a career in Applied Technologies/Career Tech Programs.
- Don E. and Charlotte Williams Scholarhip: (renewable)
- Edwin R. Adland and Ruth H Adland Scholarship: (renewable) Applicants must plan to attend Augustana College, Iowa State University, or University of Northern Iowa
- Elise Brett Scholarship: (renewable)
- Great River Bend Cyclone Award: Applicants must plan to attend Iowa State University full time.
- Iowa-Illinois Regional Auto Show Scholarship: (application due 1/7/2015) College Scholarship: applicants or family members must be currently employed at a new car dealership. Automotive Scholarship: Applicants must plan to attend Automotive Technical/Trade School.
- John R. Kiley Scholarship: Applicants must plan to attend an Iowa University.
- Kelly Marie McQuate Scholarship: Applicants are those who have lost a mother or father, either biological or adoptive.
- Louis F. Bulechek Memorial Scholarship: (renewable)

- Bill and Hilda Macomber and Alta Kahl Scholarship: (renewable) Applicants must reside in Buffalo or Blue Grass, Iowa
- Dearrel Bates Memorial Scholarship: Applicants must attend a MAC conference school and plan to work toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
- Mike Condon Memorial Scholarship: Applicant must plan to enter a construction related course of study.
Pearl Hull Falk Scholarship: Applicants must attend the University of Iowa, be of the Protestant Faith, reside in Iowa. Questions should be directed to Elizabeth Burke ateburke@midwestone.com. Applications are available in Student Services. Deadline is May 1, 2015.
Junior Scholarships
