Go Muskies!

  • There will be an assembly today at 3:05PM in the MHS Gym to honor the MHS Bowling Teams.
  • MHS Choir Concert tonight (3/2) featuring A Capella Choir, Treble Choir, Concert Choir, Freshman Choir, and Jazz Etc. The concert is in the MHS Auditorium At 7:00pm.  Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for Students.  Activity passes and Staff ID’s are also accepted.
  • Senior Survivor 2015  began Sunday, March 1 and will run through Thursday, March 5th.   There will be community challenges Monday-Wednesday starting at 6pm. Monday will be in the Cafeteria; Tuesday and Wednesday will be in the MHS Gym. Admission is $3 each night. Please come and support the students!
  • GSA (gay-straight alliance, a club for LBGTQ teens and their allies) will meet this Wednesday at 3:45 in room 142.  We will be discussing the first chapters of our book study, and talking about future activities. Treats will be provided.
  • New Volunteer/Silver Cord Opportunity Has Been Added – See below
  • 2015 AP Testing Information – AP Tests can be ordered in the MHS Student Services Office through Wednesday, March 25th. Please see the attached document (Ap Testing) for specific tests, testing dates, and cost.  If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Hawkins.
  • Boys Tennis – Any boy interested in playing tennis this year should attend a meeting after school on Tuesday, March 3rd in Mr. Ramos’ room (11-037).  Any questions should be forwarded to Mr. Ramos.
  • Boys Track and Field – There will be a parent meeting March 3rd at 6:00PM in the MHS commons. This is a date change from March 2nd. If possible please plan on attending as important information will be discussed.
  • MHS Muskie Baseball Under Armour apparel is now available for purchase. There seemed to be technical issues when placing orders on the Muskie Baseball on-line store.   • Golf Scholarship opportunity:
    The Tony Robison Memorial Golf Membership Scholarship is open to all students in grades 8-12. One male and female will be selected. The main criteria is the desire to play golf: not based on grades or financial need. The award is a one year junior golf membership at Geneva Golf and Country Club. Athletic eligibility is not affected. Once awarded, if selected individuals do not use it, it will be re-awarded to another individual. Deadline to apply is April 3, 2015. Applications are available at West Middle School, Central Middle School, Muscatine High School Athletic Office.

    March 12th (Thursday) – 1:45 – 3:45 PM
    All conferences will be walk-in held in the teacher room.
  • Information Session for Prospective College Athletes
    – Monday night, March 9th in conjunction with Parent/Teacher Conferences
    – 6pm-7:30pm MHS Commons

    – Topics covered will include information on:
    athletic scholarships, different levels of competition, recruiting, NCAA Clearinghouse, college selection, and many other related topics
    -The MHS Counseling staff will be presenting the information
    -Any coaches, parents, or students interested in these topics are encouraged to attend 
  • MHS will be providing the ACT test to all 11th grade students this year at no cost to the student.  The date for testing will be Tuesday, April 28th. The testing will take place at Muscatine High School and also at an off campus location.  Please contact Mr. Nienhaus if you have any questions.
  • Graduation Announcements will be distributed on Tuesday, March 10th during lunch.  Please call 1-800-JOSTENS to pay by credit card or debit card by this date.  Cash and Money Orders are the only forms of payment accepted at school on this day.  Your account must be paid in full in order to pick up your items at school on Delivery Day.
  • Muscatine Youth Baseball – 2015 Baseball Season Sign-ups
    Muscatine Youth Baseball is a non-profit organization that helps put baseball in the lives of our youth from ages from 7 to 17. We want our kids to have fun and learn about the great sport of baseball. First year players need to provide a birth certificate upon signing up. Cost is $50 per player for the 2015 season. Below are the dates for our 2015 sign-ups:
  • Saturday March 7th 10am – 3pm  Muscatine Mall
    Monday  March 9th 5:30pm – 7:30pm Muscatine Mall
    Wednesday March 11th 5:30pm – 7:30pm Muscatine Mall
    Saturday March 14th 10am – 3pm Muscatine Mall
    Saturday March 21st  10am – 3pm Muscatine Mall

    We want every player to be eligible to play, so No Player Will Be Turned Away. Payment arrangements can be made.

  • Student Athletes – If you are interested in participating in a spring sport at MHS, now is the time to turn in the needed paperwork! Please stop by the A.D. Office at your earliest convenience to make sure you are ready to practice when the season begins.

  • SAVE THE DATE: SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT – Tentative Date: May 20, 7 pm in the MHS Auditorium

  • Seniors: Local Scholarship Application Form (see link below). This is a tremendous opportunity for our students to have access to scholarships for their future path.  Please view the link below for the Local Scholarship Application Form. Deadline is March 6 at 4 pm. Revised 2015 Local Scholarship Application
  • Attention Seniors planning to attend Muscatine Community College in the Fall: The MCC Foundation Scholarship Application is due March 1st, 2015 (this is a change from years past).  They will be awarding over $300,000 is scholarship money!!  The application is available in MHS Student Services or at
  • Applications for the Pilot Club Scholarship in memory of Elsa Bain, Nancy Bauer and other members is available in the Student Service Office  This is a $500.00 scholarship.  Applicants need to be enrolling at Muscatine Community College for the 2015-2016 school year. Deadline is March 6th.

  • The Bright Scholars Award — please see attached document for more information. The Bright Scholars of Iowa
  •  ACACIA Leadership Scholarship for Iowa State University:  $1,000 scholarship available to any male high school graduate entering Iowa State University. Should show excellence in academics, extra curricular activities, and community involvement. Application is available in MHS Student Services.  Due Date is 3/16/2015
  • QC Auto Service and Muscatine Tire and Auto Center: $1,000 and $500 scholarships.  More information and applications available at  Due Date is 3/15/2015
  • Eastern Iowa Light and Power Cooperative Scholarship: $1,000 and $500 scholarships available to students whose parents or guardians are members of Easter Iowa Light and Power Coop.  Visit for the application packet.  Due Date is 3/13/2015.
  • Donald Kiser Memorial Scholarship: $1,000 scholarship.  Applicants must plan to pursue studies in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering. Applications are available in MHS Student Services.  Due Date is 3/31/2015
  • Edward Bitzer–American Legion Unit 27 Scholarship: $500 scholarship.  Application is available in MHS Student Services.  Due Date is 4/15/2015
  • Iowa Section PGA–Charlie Burkart Scholarship: $4,000 scholarship ($1,000 per year for 4 years). Application is available in MHS Student Services.  Due Date is 6/12/2015
