Winter Kick-Off: The Muskie Booster Club will be hosting their annual Winter Kick-Off on
Monday, Nov. 20th, starting at 7 pm. A meal consisting of a grilled sandwich, chips, cookie and drink will be served from 5:30-7. Cost is $5 and extra sandwiches can be purchased. Muskie merchandise will also be available and would make great gifts. All are invited to come see the students who will be participating in winter activities, enjoy some good food, and check out our merchandise!   Hope to see you there!  2017 Winter Kickoff

  • DUE TODAY! Senior Pictures Due Nov. 17 – Uploaded to Yearbook Website Senior Picture Form
  • There will be a Pep Assembly during 7th period today. Students will go straight to the gym after 6th period. Students that are in winter sports, Mr. Muscatine, or the winning team from the Canball tournament will sit in the lower bleacher section on the boys’ locker room side. All other students will sit with their grade level.  For the pep assembly, please wear the following color based on your class:
    • Freshman – Pink
    • Sophomore – Blue
    • Juniors – Purple
    • Seniors – Gold
  • Band students playing for the pep assembly will be released by an intercom message at 2:25 pm
  • Boys’ Spring Sport Conditioning: For those boys interested in keeping in shape for their spring sport. Voluntary workouts will begin Nov. 27th Monday (first day back from Thanksgiving break). We will meet in the gym foyer outside the cafeteria at 3:45 pm M-F. Please dress to run outside. If you have questions please E-mail Mr. Foxen at or see him in room 11-033. If you want to become a better version of yourself the opportunity is yours.

    Eastern Iowa Community Colleges can help you create a pathway to a job in IT. Start by attending an upcoming information session where you can check available programs, meet their faculty and get your hands on their high-tech equipment and facilities.

  • Girls’ Soccer Sign-up: Any girl interested in playing high school soccer, please sign up in the Athletic Office (rm 11-005).
  • Girls’ High School Soccer Open Gyms will start December 3 from 4-6 pm in the main gym.
    Open gyms will be December 3, 10, 17. Open gms will start again January 7th and every Sunday after until March 4th which will be the last open gym.
  • Join MHS Alumni Hailey Huggins and Cassie Hendrix for the Panther Push on Nov. 21 at 12:25 in the Auditorium! This is an event to promote UNI to juniors and seniors in high school. (No food is allowed in the Auditorium)
  • Mr. Muscatine is Wednesday, November 22nd, periods 1-4 (Early Out Schedule) in the Auditorium. Tickets are on sale now outside Student Services and will be sold during lunch this week, as well as next Monday and Tuesday. Tickets are $5 or 5 canned goods. Please come out and support our contestants!
    Note: If the contest finishes early, students will report to their scheduled class at that time.
  • Have you ever thought “I would like to try that” when you see the color guard spin and toss their flags? Well here is your opportunity!! Join Winter Guard and try it out. We will be meeting Thursday evenings from 7 – 8:15 pm beginning November 30th at 3003 Mulberry Ave in the gym (First Baptist Church Gym).   • 2018 Drake University Department of Physics and Astronomy Physics Prize: Online and written test that covers first-semester high school physics material: mechanics, gravitation, conservation laws for momentum, energy and angular momentum, waves and sound. First place student will receive an unrestricted four-year, full-tuition scholarship to Drake University. Students wishing to take this test please email Ms. Milani at

  • The Muscatine High School Baseball program now has an online store available for you to purchase all of your Muskie Baseball apparel. The store has apparel for men, women, and youth. Items will ship directly to your home. Store will close on Sunday, November 24. You can purchase merchandise now at
  • Food Service Notice: Starting November 27, Student IDs will be required to purchase snacks or meals in any of the Food Service areas (Cafeteria, Library Cafe, Snackers.) 
  • Please support the Muscatine Boys’ Basketball Program by purchasing Muskie clothing and other Muskie products at  The sale is through Friday, November 17th.  A portion of the sales will go to the basketball program.  Thank you!

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • Liberia Rescue Fund International, a non-profit organization in Muscatine, is looking for students to help in the creation of a logo for the organization. We do have some ideas of what we would like involved in the creation of the logo.  If interested, please contact Victoria Zarkpah at or at 563-607-0104.
    (Liberia Rescue Fund International has been able to assist in different ways, but one of their main objectives is to provide school scholarships to give educational opportunities to children in the area of West Point and Monrovia, Africa.)
  • Madison Elementary is looking for 4 students on Monday, December 4th from 6pm-8pm to help backstage during our holiday concert.  Any interested student can email Stephanie Zillig at
  • MCSD Food Service is looking for students who would be willing to volunteer at various elementary buildings to get the students through the breakfast line. Times would be 7:40-8:05 daily. Please email Alisha Eggers at if you are interested in volunteering.
