Iowa Assessment Testing – We will be giving the Iowa Assessments on Tuesday and Wednesday, November 8th and 9th in the morning. These tests are for 9th, 10th & 11th-grade students ONLY.  12th Grade students DO NOT need to report to school until the 10:22 start time on Nov. 8th & 9th. Any 11th-grade student who currently has an exemption 3rd period will be required to report to the Commons for testing at 8:22 on both days of testing (Nov. 8th & 9th).

  • Winter Sports & Activities Kickoff will be held on November 21st in the MHS Gymnasium starting at 7 PM. Muskie Booster Club Meal by Avenue Subs will be available for $5 from 5:30-7:00 pm in the Cafeteria. See flyer for complete event details.  Winter Kickoff Information
  • Intramural Twitter Voting – The Activities Department will be offering intramurals during enrichment, and is offering students the opportunity to decide the first intramural activity.  Follow Activities Director Andrew Werling on Twitter at @AndyWerling and place your vote beginning tomorrow afternoon.
  • Boys’ Soccer Open Gym – There will be an open gym on Nov. 6 from 2-4 pm in the Main & Upper gyms. This is for any high school boy interested in playing soccer this Spring.
  • The Mr. Muscatine Pageant will be held on Wednesday, November 23rd starting at 8:30 am in the Auditorium. (Doors will open at 8 a.m.) Tickets are $5 and will go on sale starting Nov. 17th in front of Student Services.
  • Class of 2017 – If you haven’t voted for senior superlatives for the yearbook and would like to, stop by Miss Brown’s room (21-035) for a form and return it by the end today, Friday, November 4.

  • DON’T MISS IT! — The MHS Drama Department will present Play On!, a comedy-farce on Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5 at 7 pm in the MHS Auditorium. Tickets are $6 and are available at the door. Box office opens at 6:15. Activity and partner passes are accepted!
  • Senior Boys — It’s Mr. Muscatine Pageant Time! – If you’re a senior boy and would like to participate in the Mr. Muscatine pageant, please pick up a Mr. Muscatine form at the Attendance Center. The form needs to be returned by November 11th — see details on the form.
  • Sophomore Football Equipment Return – Final equipment return will be on Friday, Nov. 4th after school. If you had a football locker with items in it, please report to equipment room on Friday. The football lockers have been cleaned out.
  • Aquarium Club – There will be a meeting in room 148 during the last 1/2 of lunch, Friday, Nov 4th. See you there!
  • National Key Club Week – Key Club is a student organization all about focusing on service projects and supporting causes. Next week (November 7th-November 11th) we are celebrating National Key Club Week. We would love if you would come to one of the Key Club meetings and see what it’s all about. Our next meeting will be on Friday, November 18th at 7:30am in the auditorium.
  • Blood Drive – All MHS Students and Staff who are scheduled to donate blood on Monday, November 7th will receive their appointment cards this week. This card is your pass to get out of class — you are only excused for the time on your appointment card. If the time does NOT work for you — email Mrs. Keltner at and we will change your appointment time.
    Remember: Walk-ins will NOT be accepted – you need an appointment. Appointment cards for the Monday, November 14th will be passed out next week.
  • Wrestling – Open mat workouts will continue on Sundays 5-6p m and Tuesdays 7-8 pm.
  • Student Council Coat Drive – Starting November 7th, students will be able to donate coats to Mrs. Thomas’ room (135). In return for donating a coat, you will receive a pass to leave school campus for lunch on November 18th.
  • Reminder – Class of 2017 – Yearbook pictures are due Nov. 17th. See attachment for more details.   Sr. Yearbook Pictures Info
  • The 2016 Muskie Football Banquet will be Sunday night, November 13th at 6pm. We will meet in the Auditorium, with cake and ice cream to follow down in the Cafeteria. All 2016 Muskie football players in grades 9-12 are expected to attend. Parents are also invited to attend.
  • Boys’ Basketball – There will be a player/parent meeting on Monday, November 7th, at 6 pm in the Stan Howe Commons for any boys interested in playing basketball this year. Tryouts will begin on Monday, November 14th at 3:45pm.
  • Female Soccer Players – Our indoor open gym times will begin in December on Sundays from 4-6 pm. Please contact Coach Bob at with your interest to play and also your contact information so you can be kept up to date with other opportunities to play.
  • Winterguard will begin on November 5th, 9 am -12 pm, in the West MS old gym. The show this year will be titled “Villains.” Anyone interested in learning about flags, rifles, sabres, and Guard should attend! No experience needed, we will teach you! Bring a friend! If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Heid in the Band room (FA13).
  • Key Club Blood Drive – Any MHS Students or Staff interested in donating blood on Monday, November 7 or Monday, November 14th needs to sign-up with a Key Club member or email Mrs. Keltner at Walk-ins will NOT be taken for these blood drives — all donors need to have a scheduled time.
  • Exploring Engineering – Wednesday, November 9 from 6 to 8 p.m.   Rogalski Center Ballroom at St. Ambrose University
    Explore the career opportunities in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering and the difference a St. Ambrose education can make in your future.
    Please reserve your spot by completing this form by November 7.

PS: Can’t make it to the Exploring Engineering event? If you’d still like to learn more about engineering programs, meet with our faculty and students and get a tour of our facilities, please schedule an Individual Visit with the Admissions Office.

  • Salvation Army is in need of bell ringers during their Red Kettle Campaign. Bell ringing begins on Nov. 18 through Dec. 24. Inside and outside sites are available. If interested or for more information, please contact Sissy at 563-263-8272.
