Fall Bash Dance: Are you ready to glow? The Fall Bash Dance will be on Saturday, October 21st from 9-11 pm in the MHS Cafeteria. Entrance is $5 at the door. Bedeck yourselves in white and neon colors for this blacklight extravaganza! Glow sticks, necklaces, and bracelets will be sold on sight, as well. Invite all your peers to come out for a night of fun and fellowship!

  • Congrats to the Volleyball team on their victory over Burlington last night! They will next play at Pleasant Valley High School at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, Oct. 24.
  • Good luck to the Cross Country teams today as they run in Iowa City today to punch their ticket to the State meet. Stay Calm. Run Well.
  • ATTENTION – Seniors Planning to Attend MCC Next Year: MCC Financial Aid representatives will be available to provide FAFSA completion assistance during Parent Teacher Conferences. To sign up for an appointment time on either Monday, October 23rd or Wednesday, October 25th between 4-7:00 pm, please call 263-6141 ext 1120.
  • Families will need to bring their FSA IDs as well as their 2016 tax returns to the appointment.   FAFSA – Here’s What You Need Info
  • Students registered to take Driver’s Ed through the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency’s Driver Education Program: Classroom instruction will begin on Oct. 23 – Nov 12 at MHS in room 11-009 from 5:30-8:30 pm. Please bring a pencil/pen to the classes.
  • Softball Meeting: There will be a Softball Meeting on Thursday, Oct. 19 during Enrichment in room 11-022 for all girls planning to play high school softball this year. If you cannot attend the meeting, please see contact Coach Stoltzfus at jason.stoltzfus@mcsdonline.org.
  • The All Kinds of People Club (AKOP) will meet every Tuesday and Thursday in the Library from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. If you have any questions see Noah McGowan, Felix Schmidt, or Ben Johns.
  • Key Club Meeting THIS FRIDAY! Everyone is welcome to our club meeting & new member initiation ceremony at 7:30 am in the auditorium!

  • Nominate MHS Staff of the Quarter: Teachers and Support Staff play an important role in the lives of children, families, and communities. Each quarter we would like to recognize outstanding educators at Muscatine High School and highlight her/his achievements. The Muscatine High School Staff of the Quarter award has been established to recognize outstanding people for their dedication, professionalism and work in the classroom.   • PSAT Test Reschedule Date: The PSAT reschedule date is Wed., Oct, 25 at the Administration Office – 2900 Mulberry Ave. at 8:30 am. If you cannot attend the rescheduled test date, please contact Mr. Welsch at brandon.welsch@mcsdonline.org. If it is determined that there are no possible options for you to take the PSAT test on a future date, you will be reimbursed for the test.
  • MHS Boys’ Swim & Organizational Meeting: Any student interested in MHS Boys’ Swim, please attend the swim meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 24th at 8:00 am at the pool.
    If you cannot make the 8:00 am meeting, there will also be a 3:30 pm meeting at the pool

  • Boys’ Cross Country Equipment Return: Please come after school on Wed., Nov. 1st to hand in all XC gear. We will be right outside the wrestling room on the
    girls’ locker room side of the gym. Please contact Mr. Foxen with any questions.
  • Canball Sign-up: Canball Sign-up forms can be picked up at the Attendance Center.
    The event will take place on Nov. 2 beginning at 4 pm in the MHS Gym and is open to the public. Player & Spectator entrance fee is $3 or 5 canned goods. Sign-up forms are due
    Oct. 31 by 3:30 pm to Mrs. Walsh in rm 12-008 in the Science Wing. (Canball is volleyball for guys. A team consists of 6 male players and can have 2 alternates and a captain.)
  • Boys’ Basketball Sign-up: Any students interested in playing basketball need to stop by room 11-014 (Mr. McDonald’s room) and sign-up. Tryouts will begin on Monday, November 13th.
  • Wrestling Sign-up: Any students interested in Wrestling need to stop by room 12-015 (Coach Kane’s room) and sign up. Go Muskies!

  • The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards will grant two Iowa honorees $1,000, a medallion, and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C.
    The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards is looking for Iowa’s top youth volunteers of the year. Students in grade 5-12 are invited to apply if they have made meaningful contributions to their communities through volunteer service within the past 12 months.     4 to 6 p.m. at the Muscatine Community College Muscatine Industrial Technology Center, 152 Colorado St, Muscatine, IA.     MCSD staff and a guest are free with staff I.D., and we accept student activity passes.
    Adults are $4 and school-aged children are $3. One Family (Parents and All Children)
    will be admitted for no more than $10.
  • MHS Band Spooktacular Concert will be on Tuesday, October 17th @ 7 pm in the MHS Auditorium. MCSD staff and a guest are free with staff I.D., and we accept student activity passes. Adults are $4 and school-aged children are $3.
