  • Parent/Teacher Walk-in Conferences
    Wednesday, Oct. 26 – 4:00 – 7:15 PM
    Thursday, Oct. 27 – 1:45 – 3:45 PM (2-Hour Early Out)
  • Oct. 28 – NO SCHOOL – Conference Comp Day
  • New this year at Parent Teacher ConferencesA complimentary meal for parents will be served in the MHS Cafeteria on 26th from 4:00 – 7:15 PM (or until food is gone) – Pizza by Salvatore’s Ristorante on Oct. 26th.

  • Parents of Seniors:   Jostens will be at MHS on Tuesday, October 25th to collect all Senior Graduation Orders.  Orders will be turned in during lunch outside of the Student Services office.  Parents are welcome.  Please do not forget the order form on Tuesday, this will be the only day that Jostens will be here to collect the orders and pass out bonus order day items.  If you have any questions, please call 1-800-JOSTENS.  The office is open 8am-7pm and customer service agents are bilingual.
  • Anime Club – Anime Club has been canceled for this week.
  • Sophomore football player equipment return will take place after school today, Oct. 25, in the equipment room.
  • Student IDs and photos from all Lifetouch photo dates (Aug. 12 , Sept.6, Oct. 3) are available to be picked up at the Attendance Center.
  • Boys’ Swim Meeting – If you are interested in participating on the Boys’ Swim Team, there will be a short meeting on Thursday, Oct. 27 – 1:30 at the pool. If unable to attend see Coach Anderson at the pool or email at jeanderson@machlink.com
  • #ReviewsdayTuesday The Last Boy and Girl in the World by Siobhan Vivian
    What if your town was sliding underwater and everyone was ordered to pack up and leave? How would you and your friends spend your last days together? While the adults plan for the future, box up their possessions, and find new places to live, Keeley Hewitt and her friends decide to go out with a bang. There are parties in abandoned houses. Canoe races down Main Street. The goal is to make the most of every minute they still have together. Checkout (or hold) a copy with the library staff!
  • The MHS Cheer Program will be holding cheerleading tryouts for winter basketball & wrestling cheer.  The remaining cheer practice will be on 10/27 from 5-7 pm in the Commons. Tryouts will be October 29th from 9 am to 12 pm in the MHS Gym. Tryout packets are available at the Attendance Center. Any girls and boys, with a cheer, dance, and/or tumbling background, in any grade, are encouraged to tryout! If you have questions, please contact Coach Sink at muskiecheercoach@gmail.com
  • Wrestling Sign-up – All students interested in wrestling this season, please sign-up in Coach Kane’s room 242. You will also receive wrestling season information.
  • Girls’ Basketball – Open gym this week is on Monday and Thursday from 5:45-7:15pm in the main gym.
  • FCA – We will meet on Wednesday, October 26th over the lunch hour in Room 11-037.  Pizza will be served!
  • The Girls’ Cross Country Banquet will be held Tuesday, November 1 in the Cafeteria from 6-7:30 pm. Please bring table service and drinks. Other details to follow. All those not competing in the state meet should turn in uniforms, sweats, blue padlocks, and Nike bags to Coach Armstrong this week.
  • The MHS Drama Department will present Play On!, a comedy-farce on Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5 at 7 pm in the MHS Auditorium. Tickets are $6 and are available at the door. Box office opens at 6:15. Activity and partner passes are accepted! Plan now to join us!  Play On! Poster
  • Rotary’s Youth Exchange Program Parent/Student Informational Meeting – The Muscatine Rotary Club has fantastic youth development and leadership programs available to MHS Freshman – Juniors. Ever dreamed of living abroad and immersing yourself in the culture of another country? Want to join other Iowa teens in a safe environment dedicated to embracing your individuality to build confidence and develop leadership skills? Please join us Wednesday, October 26 from 5:30 – 6:30 PM in the MHS Library to learn about Rotary’s Youth Exchange Program for the 2017-2018 and beyond school years and Rotary’s week long Youth Leadership Award program each July. These programs are truly life-changing!
  • Senior Student-Athletes – The Activities Department will hold the annual College Commitment Ceremony on April 12th from 11:45 am to 12:30 pm in MHS Auditorium. This is for all senior student-athletes who are committing to participate in athletics after high school graduation regardless of scholarship offer or previously signing a commitment letter. If you plan to attend, please email Andy Werling at andy.werling@mcsdonline.org by April 6th to receive further details.   • Boys’ Basketball – Any students interested in playing basketball need to stop by room AA28 (Mr. McDonald’s room) and sign up. Tryouts will begin on Monday, November 14th.
  • Save Now, Save Later Giveaway – College Savings Plan Parent Giveaway – Parents can enter to win one of thirty $1500 saving plan deposits. Registration ends Oct. 30. Save Now Save Later Program
  • Canball Sign-up – Canball is a male only volleyball game to raise money for the Food Drive. It will be held on November 3rd starting at 4 pm. Entry fee is $3 or 5 cans of food per person on the team. A team consist of 6 players, an alternate (if desired), and a coach. The coach is not allowed to play. Entry forms with rules can be picked up at the Attendance Center. Entry forms must be submitted to Mrs. Walker in room 130 (Science wing) by 3:30 pm on October 31st. Spectators are welcome – admission is $3 or 5 cans of food.
  • Baseball Meeting – There will be a brief meeting for all baseball players at 6pm on Tuesday, November 1st in the Commons to discuss an upcoming fundraising opportunity. Please be sure that you attend.
  • Winter Sports Participants – The first practice for winter sports will be starting the 2nd or 3rd week of November. You have to have all your forms in to participate. Stop by the Activities Office room 162 or email kathy.watson@mcsdonline.org to inquire about the forms you need.

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • Salvation Army is in need of bell ringers during their Red Kettle Campaign. Bell ringing begins on Nov. 18 through Dec. 24. Inside and outside sites are available. If interested or for more information, please contact Sissy at 563-263-8272.
