2020-21 Bell Schedules

  • MCC Spring Semester Schedule: The Class Schedule for Spring 2021 at Muscatine Community College is now available. If you would like to discuss courses for second semester, please stop in Student Services to schedule an appointment with Mrs. Hawkins or email kris.meeker@mcsdonline.org or allie.meineke@mcsdonline.org to schedule a Google Meet.
  • Reminder: Applications to join the National Honor Society are due by the end of the day Friday, October 30th. Those 11th and 12th grade students who are eligible to apply, received an email on Monday, October 19th with instructions for picking up the application.  Please see Mrs. Hawkins in Student Services with any questions. Applications turned in after the deadline will not be considered. 
  • Iowa Central Community College will be holding a virtual visit during Muskie Time on October 29th. If you would like to sign up for the virtual visit, please see Mrs. Meineke or Mrs. Meeker in Student Services or email allie.meineke@mcsdonline.org or kris.meeker@mcsdonline.org.
  • Upward Bound Students or Any Students Interested in Joining Upward Bound: There will be an Upward Bound Hispanic Heritage Month & Dia de los Muertos family party on Friday, October 30 from 5-6:30pm on Zoom.  Space is limited – reserve your spot by emailing upward-bound@uiowa.edu with your name and # of family members who will attend. Before the party, you will receive a party bag with a skill, paints, snacks and other goodies!

  • MHS Girls’ Softball Parent/Player Meeting: There will be a Parent/ Player Meeting on Nov. 8 from 5 – 6:30pm in the MHS Commons for anyone in grades 8 – 12 that is planning on playing high school softball. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Hopkins at HopkinsS@hnicorp.com
  • MHS Boys’ Swim: Any boys wanting to participate in MHS Boys’ Swim this year, please stop by the pool before or after school Wed., Oct 28th through Fri., Oct 30th.  If you have any questions or are unable to stop please email Coach Anderson at jeanderson@machlink.com.
  • Volleyball Regionals: Muskies will take on PV @ PV tomorrow night, Oct. 27 at 7pm.  No game day ticket is needed. Admission is $6. 
  • 2nd Annual Muscatine High School Baseball Mattress Fundraiser: The Muscatine High School Baseball Program is excited to announce they will be hosting a one-day Mattress event on Saturday, November 21st, from 10am – 5pm in the VanHecke Center. There will be 30+ different styles of beds on display for customers to try.  The brand name mattresses are made to order, have full factory warranties, are available in all sizes, and are priced below retail.  In addition to beds, there will also be luxury pillows, sheets and even adjustable power bases!!   • Sign-ups & Fees Due Nov. 2nd! CanBall 2020! Male Volleyball Tournament in the MHS Gym on Thursday, November 4th starting at 4:00 PMCanBall 2020 Information
    Teams can have no more than 8 players and 2 coaches. Team forms are available at the Attendance Center. Team forms and payment ($3 or 5 Canned Goods per player/coach) due to Ms. Heimerdinger (Rm 11-028) by 3:30m on Monday, November 2nd. Players and coaches not on the roster cannot be on the gym floor during the tournament.
    Any teams not playing will need to be in the bleachers wearing facing coverings and maintain social distancing.
    Spectators can attend and will need to have face coverings and practice social distancing. Admission at the door is $3 or 5 canned goods. All proceeds will go to MCSA. Any questions can be directed to Ms. Heimerdinger at kenedy.heimerdinger@mcsdonline.org

  • Make-up Picture Day will be on November 10th for ALL students – Virtual & Hybrid starting at 7AM in the MHS Main Gym. (If this is not your scheduled day to attend, you can still come in and get your picture taken.) Please enter through the Swim entrance across from Bonnie St. parking lot if entering the building prior to 7:45AM. Please enter through the Main Entrance if entering the after 8:30AM.

  • Winter Cheerleading Tryouts: Tryouts for winter cheerleading will be held on November 7th. Tryout packets can be picked up at the Attendance Office. 
  • Seniors:  If you haven’t registered to vote, here is a resource for you to register online. Note: You must be 18 years of age by Nov. 3, 2020 in order to register and vote in the Nov. 3rd election. Visit: https://sos.iowa.gov/elections/voterinformation/voterregistration.html  (look for the “box” for Online Voter Registration).  Simply follow the steps to get registered to vote.  If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Acord in Rm 11-030.
  • MHS Wrestling: Students interested in wrestling this season please email Coach Kane at joseph.kane@mcsdonline.org
  • Any boys interested in trying out for basketball this winter, please contact Coach Windham either through email, john.windham@mcsdonline.org or stopping by Room 23-007 in the Business/ForeignLanguage wing.
  • On Thursday, November 5th, ICAN will provide virtual appointments to help senior families complete their FAFSA. Appointments can be made by using this link MHS Virtual FAFSA Completion Night.  Scroll down to the Muscatine High School Event scheduled for November 5th and click to choose an appointment time between 4:00-9:00 pm. Please see or contact Mrs. Hawkins (karey.hawkins@mcsdonline.org) in Student Services with questions.
  • DUE DATE IS NOV. 13th! Senior Pictures Submissions for the Yearbook – Due Friday, November 13th, 2020
    Senior pictures will only be accepted by submitting them to the Josten’s website.
    If your photographer wants to submit your picture for you, it is up to you to talk to the photographer and tell them the process. Photos received after this date cannot be guaranteed a place in the Yearbook. If a senior picture is not provided, the school picture will be used.
    To submit your picture, follow these steps:

  • Silver Cord Opportunity: The Food & Nutrition Department is providing a free meal pick up service at Central Middle School on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday for families in our community. We need help packing meals and carrying boxes and bags to cars.  Please email schoolmeals@mcsdonline.org for details.
  • REMINDER: Students need to log in by 9am in order to be counted Present for the day.  If you log in after 9am, an automated call will go out to your parent/guardian that you are Not Present.  In order to get this cleared, a parent/guardian must contact MHS Attendance at 563-263-6616 to excuse your absence.
  • ACT Academy Test Prep: All students have free access to the ACT Academy test prep online. The link below includes the instructions for log in whether you have or have not logged in in the past. Please contact Mrs. Hawkins with any questions.  ACT Academy Test Prep

  • 2019-20 Yearbooks: If you purchased a 2019-20 yearbook, you can pick it up at the Attendance Center.
  • Did you or someone you know attend Muscatine High School during the 2012 through 2015 school years? If so, this is your chance to purchase a yearbook that reflects those school years and memories! Each yearbook is $20 until sold out. All proceeds go back into the Yearbook Club to purchase new equipment and expand the program for students. To purchase, call the Activities Office at Muscatine High School at (563) 263-6141 and ask for Mindy.

  • Vehicle Registration Form/Parking Tags: If you are a new driver to MHS and do not have an MHS Parking Tag, you will need to pick up & complete a Vehicle Registration Form. Stop in Student Services during the first week of school to pick up the form or print out and return completed Vehicle Registration Form during the first week of school.  Students that have a parking tag from last year will continue to use that parking tag. If you no longer have the parking tag, please stop in the Student Services office.

    Forms can be picked up and returned to Mrs. Borde in the Principal’s office (Room 11-001). Instructions: Please complete Sections 1 and 3. (Leave Section 2 blank). 

** Silver Cord Opportunities/Volunteer Opportunities **

  • Silver Cord Program:  Students recording hours of volunteer service during their years at MHS will be awarded a Silver Cord to wear at graduation. In order for volunteer hours to count towards a Silver Cord, students must complete the online form to verify. Silver Cord Form
    Service qualifies for Silver Cord recognition if:

    • The student is not paid for the service
    • The student does not receive credit for the service.
    • The service is not for the purpose of fundraising for a group/activity/team that the student participates in.
      *140 hours are required for students in the Class of 2021, 2022 and 2023.
      *160 hours are required for students graduating in the Class of 2024.
