1st Semester Final Dates:
Dec. 19 – Finals for 1st, 3rd, 5th period classes
Dec. 20 – Finals for 2nd, 4th, 6th period classes
Dec. 21 – Finals for 7th hour class and make-ups (2 hr early dismissal)

  • Winterguard will begin on November 5th, 9 am -12 pm, in the West MS old gym. The show this year will be titled “Villains.” Anyone interested in learning about flags, rifles, sabres, and Guard should attend! No experience needed, we will teach you! Bring a friend! If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Heid in the Band room (FA13).
  • Girls’ Basketball– There will be NO open gym on Monday, October 31 due to Halloween. Our last open gym will be Thursday, November 3 from 5:45-7:15pm. A parent meeting will follow from 7:30-8:30pm in the Commons. All parents of 9-12 girls’ basketball players are encouraged to attend.
  • Girls’ Basketball Parent Meeting – A parent meeting will be held on Nov. 3 from 7:30-8:30 pm in the Commons. All parents of 9-12 girls’ basketball players are encouraged to attend.
  • FCA – We will meet at noon on Wednesday in room 11-037. Coach Orvis will bring the Word.  There will be pizza. Bring a friend!
  • The Girls’ Cross Country banquet will be held in the cafeteria on Tuesday, November 1 from 6:00-7:30 pm. Seniors should bring main dishes,freshmen sides, sophomores and juniors desserts or fruit. Bring own table service and drinks. All equipment should be turned in before or at the banquet to receive awards-Nike bags,sweats,uniform, and padlock.
  • Key Club Blood Drive – Any MHS Students or Staff interested in donating blood on Monday, November 7 or Monday, November 14th needs to sign-up with a Key Club member or email Mrs. Keltner at Walk-ins will NOT be taken for these blood drives — all donors need to have a scheduled time.
  • MHS is starting Minecraft Club on Tuesday, November 1st! The club is for all Minecraft enthusiasts to come play and talk about the game. The club will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays on the first floor of the new wing from 3:30-4:30. Speak to Eli Sywassink or Ben Johns if you have questions.
  • The MHS Drama Department will present Play On!, a comedy-farce on Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5 at 7 pm in the MHS Auditorium. Tickets are $6 and are available at the door. Box office opens at 6:15. Activity and partner passes are accepted! Plan now to join us!

  • CANBALL Entry forms due TODAY, October 31st to Mrs. Walker’s room 130 (Science wing) by 3:30 pm. Entry forms can be picked up at the Attendance Center. Entry fee is $3 or 5 cans of food per person on the team.
  • Vocal Music Boosters Fundraiser at Panda Express – Nov. 2 (located across highway 61 from Wal-Mart).  20% of all sales will come back to support the MHS Choirs!  Each person must have an MHS Choir Flyer with them when ordering. These are available online at or by clicking here.  There is a 35 person minimum to benefit from this, so if you are going with a friend, spouse, etc. consider paying separately and each presenting a flyer.  Thank you for your continued support of the MHS Choir Program!
  • AKOP Jr. –  Next meeting will be Wednesday, November 2nd in Mrs. Walker’s room (130 in the science hall) from 3:45 pm to 4:45 pm. Hope to see you all there!
  • Exploring Engineering – Wednesday, November 9 from 6 to 8 p.m.
    Rogalski Center Ballroom at St. Ambrose University

    Stop in at your convenience and explore all that engineering has to offer!

    • Chat with working engineers from local companies about their exciting and challenging profession.
    • Ask questions of our admissions counselors about financial aid and applying to college.
    • Get to know our engineering faculty-they understand the skills you’ll need to succeed.
    • Explore the career opportunities in Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering and the difference a St. Ambrose education can make in your future.
      Please reserve your spot by completing this form by November 7.

PS: Can’t make it to the Exploring Engineering event? If you’d still like to learn more about engineering programs, meet with our faculty and students and get a tour of our facilities, please schedule an Individual Visit with the Admissions Office.

  • New Scholarships Added — See Scholarships section below (Jan. 2017 section)
  • Baseball Meeting – There will be a brief meeting for all baseball players at 6pm on Tuesday, November 1st in the Commons to discuss an upcoming fundraising opportunity. Please be sure that you attend.
  • Student IDs and photos from all Lifetouch photo dates (Aug. 12 , Sept.6, Oct. 3) are available to be picked up at the Attendance Center.
  • Winter Sports Participants (Wrestling, Boys Swim, Basketball, Bowling) – The first practice for winter sports will be starting the 2nd or 3rd week of November. You have to have all your forms in to participate. Stop by the Activities Office room 162 or email to inquire about the forms you need.
  • Wrestling Sign-up – All students interested in wrestling this season, please sign-up in Coach Kane’s room 242. You will also receive wrestling season information.
  • Boys’ Basketball – Any students interested in playing basketball need to stop by room AA28 (Mr. McDonald’s room) and sign up. Tryouts will begin on Monday, November 14th.

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • Salvation Army is in need of bell ringers during their Red Kettle Campaign. Bell ringing begins on Nov. 18 through Dec. 24. Inside and outside sites are available. If interested or for more information, please contact Sissy at 563-263-8272.
