** Homecoming Information **

  • Homecoming Spirit Days are as follows:
    • Monday: “Beauty Sleep Day” (PJ Day)
    • Tuesday: “Tourist Tuesday”
    • Wednesday: “Hollywood Hippie” (Tie-Dye and Flowers)
    • Thursday: “Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen Day” (Twin Day)
    • Friday: Gold and Muskie Spirit Day
  • The Powder Puff Game is Monday, Sept. 11th at 7 pm. Junior or Senior girls wishing to participate may pick up forms in the Activities Office. Forms are due back to the Activities Office by Friday, Sept. 8th.  Entrance fee is $3.  All proceeds will go to the Children’s Cancer Connection.
  • Homecoming T-Shirts: Student Council ordered 250 shirts (in an array of sizes) to be sold at the high school prior to the Homecoming game. If you have not pre-ordered, you may purchase a shirt for $10.00 during lunch outside of Student Services.
  • Homecoming Dance Tickets: Tickets for the Homecoming Dance, Night at the Oscars, are now on sale during lunch outside of Student Services. Tickets are $10.00 per person.
  • Homecoming Dance Guest Forms: Any MHS student wanting to bring a non-MHS student to the Homecoming Dance will need to pick up a Guest Form in the AP office (room 12-001); completed forms must be faxed back to Mrs. Chatfield by September 14th by 4 pm.  You will not be allowed to purchase tickets for your out-of-town guest until the guest form has been completed.
  • The Homecoming Parade is Thursday, Sept. 14th starting at 6:00 pm from Grant Elementary School to MHS. Those participating in the parade need to line up outside of Grant Elementary at 5:30 pm. 
  • Homecoming Court Coronation is Thursday, Sept. 14th @ 7:00 pm immediately following the Homecoming Parade. Entry is free; Student Council will be accepting donations for the Children’s Cancer Connection. 

** Daily News & Information **

  • Anyone interested in joining the Teen Library Committee: Our first meeting of the year will be Wednesday, September 20th during the second half of lunch in Mrs. Keltner’s office (just off the library). This committee is a great group for anyone who loves to read and wants to help promote the library.
  • Muscatine High School Fuel The Future formerly known as SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) will meet right after school every Thursday in the new wing upper commonsIf you have questions contact Jaimie Cruse at jaimie.cruse@unitypoint.org
  • Senior March permission slips can be picked up at the Attendance Office. Permission slip/fee are to be turned into the Attendance Office during school hours by 3:30 pm on
    Monday, September 11.  Late forms and payment will not be accepted.

  • MHS Environmental Club will be meeting Friday, September 8, during second half of lunch, in room 12-005 (Mrs. Baillie’s room).
  • Interested in helping children in need around the world? Join UNICEF club! There will be an informational meeting on Friday, September 8th during the 2nd half of lunch in
    rm 11-006.
  • MHS Disc Golf Club will hold their first meeting/practice on Monday, Sept. 11 from 4:00-5:30 pm at the MHS Campus Disc Golf Course located behind the football field. Practices will be held on Monday’s from 4:00-5:30 pm until the end of November. There is no requirement to attend every practice — show up when you can! We will also be playing at the Fuller Park Disc Golf Course. Any questions please contact Scott Harmon in

  • New Scholarship Added — see Scholarship section below (May 2018).
  • The Magic the Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons Clubs will have a meeting for students interested in participating on Tuesday, Sept. 12th during the end of lunch at 12:40 in Room 13-012A. The club will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school in the library starting on Tuesday, Sept 19th. We have some free Magic intro decks while supplies last if you’re interested, but have no cards. See Ben Johns or Shane Palmer if you have any questions.
  • New Silver Cord Opportunities: See Silver Cord section below.
  • The yearbook staff has several extra yearbooks from the following school years:  2012-2013, 2013-2014, and 2015-2016. If you would like to purchase a copy, we are selling these for $20 (originally $56) What a deal! Please contact Katie Brown at katie.brown@mcsdonline.org if you are interested in buying one.
  • Muskie Baseball Open Field will occur every Tuesday starting Sept. 5 from 6-7:30 pm and Saturday from 9:00 – 10:30 am. If there is inclement weather, please follow

  • Interested in the Speech and Debate Team?  Do you enjoy: Competitive Acting? Speaking? Arguing?  There will be a Parent/Coach meeting on Sept. 11th at 6 pm in the Library.
  • Boys’ Tennis Sign Up: Stop in Coach Goedken’s Room 21-030 anytime to sign up. We want to get an idea of who is coming out for tennis and to make sure you have the paperwork turned in. We have Winter tennis lesson information and information about the Spring season.
  • Fall Wrestling Club on Sundays 2-3 pm and Mondays 6-7 pm. Talk to Coach Kane
    (Rm 12-015) for more information.
  • Linda’s Linens will be having a Style Show during September “Second Saturday” (Sept.9) from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. at 129 E. 2nd Street  (next to Flower Gallery).  She will have Free, Consigned and New Dresses on display (limited amount of free dresses on style show).
  • MHS Golf Outing: The event is Sunday, September 24th at 9:00 am, Muscatine Municipal Golf Course.   Anyone interested in playing can call Tanya Howard at 414-336-1193 or Dave Crawley, Pro @ Muni, 563-263-4735.  MHS Golf Outing Registration Form

** Silver Cord Opportunities **

  • Officer Pena is looking for volunteers to help run several carnival games and bounce houses at our Battle of the Badges event at Musser Park on Sept 10 from 4:00-6:00 pm. Please email her at whitni.pena@mcsdonline.org if you are interested in helping.
  • MCSD Food Service is looking for students who would be willing to volunteer at various elementary buildings to get the students through the breakfast line. Times would be 7:40-8:05 am daily. Please email Alisha Eggers at alisha.eggers@mcsdonline.org if you are interested in volunteering.
