- Today’s Cross Country meet at Noelridge Park in Cedar Rapids has been cancelled due to the weather forecast. Practice for boys and girls will be at the normal time today.
- Homecoming T-shirts Are In! If you ordered a Homecoming t-shirt, you can pick it up at the Attendance Center.
- Pep Assembly: Friday, Sept. 13 @ 2:45pm in the MHS gym. 9/13/19 Bell Schedule
- MHS CAR SMASH after the Pep Assembly on Friday, Sept. 13. Car Smash will take place across from the stadium. $1 for one hit, $2 for 3 hits. 40% of the proceeds will go to the 4Oceans Project.
- PIE A TEACHER FUNDRAISER: Donate money into a teachers bucket and get a chance to win a FREE Homecoming Ticket! The teacher with the most $ gets pied on Friday at the Pep Assembly. Donate before/after school & Muskie Time in front of Student Services next to Homecoming ticket sales. 40% of the proceeds will go to the 4Oceans Project.

- VFW Scout of the Year Program: Entries due March 1, 2020. Annually, the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States awards three individual who are: Eagle Scouts, Girl Scout Gold Award recipients, Venture Summit Award recipients and/or Sea Scout Quartermasters who have risen above their peers in exemplifying the qualities of that rank. - Voice of Democracy Program: 2019-2020 Theme “What Makes America Great”. Student Entry Deadline: October 31, 2019. Patriotic Audio Essay Competition Grand Prize: $30,000 Award. See attachment for details. Voice of Democracy Program Info
- Girls’ Basketball: No open gym on Thursday due to Homecoming activities.
- Boys’ Basketball: Any boy grades 9-12 interested in playing basketball this winter please contact Coach Windham, john.windham@mcsdonline.org or Room 23-007 in the Business/Foreign Language wing.
- Need a dress, shirt/pants or shoes for Homecoming? There is a clothes rack across from the Attendance Center for you to check out. All items are FREE — see Mrs. Borde in the principal’s office with any questions.
- There is a new club this year called Poetry Out Loud. It is a club/contest in which students will study, memorize and recite poetry in a competitive environment with a chance to move on to state and national competitions. Any student who likes poetry and/or theater, and thinks Poetry Out Loud sounds like fun–Join the club by contacting your English teacher or Mr. Gehret in room 11-009 for more information.
- Seniors and Parents/Guardians of Seniors: Baby Ads for the yearbook need to be submitted to Ms. Brown by turning in the form, payment, and picture at the Attendance Center, mailed to the school (Attn: Katie Brown), or dropped off in Ms. Brown’s room (21-035). This form will be mailed home, linked in this email, and has been emailed to all seniors.
- Senior Photos are due November 15th and need to be uploaded to the yearbook website directly. Please refer to the Senior Photos link/form for instructions. This form will be mailed home, linked in this email, and has been emailed to all seniors.

- Breakfast starts at 7:30am and runs until 8:15am and is available in the Cafeteria.

** Silver Cord Opportunities/Volunteer Opportunities **
- The MCSD Food & Nutrition Dept is looking for MHS students to help students at elementary schools with breakfast cards & getting through the serving lines any time from 7-8am during the 2019-2020 school year.
