** Daily News & Information **

  • Parent volunteers needed to assist with Lifetouch picture day on Sept. 9th from 7 am – 1:30pm. Volunteers will receive a $35 credit for Lifetouch pictures.  If interested, please contact Doreen Borde at 563-263-6141 or
  • Need a dress, shirt/pants or shoes for Homecoming?  There is a clothes rack across from the Attendance Center for you to check out.  All items are FREE — see Mrs. Borde in the principal’s office with any questions.
  • American Sign Language Club will meet on Sept. 10 during Muskie Time in the Library. Contact Eliza Gordon at with any questions.

  • There is a new club this year called Poetry Out Loud. It is a club/contest in which students will study, memorize and recite poetry in a competitive environment with a chance to move on to state and national competitions. Any student who likes poetry and/or theater, and thinks Poetry Out Loud sounds like fun–Join the club by contacting your English teacher or Mr. Gehret in room 11-009 for more information.
  • FFA Meeting during Muskie Time on Tuesday, Sept. 10 in the Ag Room. Every Ag Student is welcome!
  • Seniors and Parents/Guardians of Seniors: Baby Ads for the yearbook need to be submitted to Ms. Brown by turning in the form, payment, and picture at the Attendance Center, mailed to the school (Attn: Katie Brown), or dropped off in Ms. Brown’s room (21-035). This form will be mailed home, linked in this email, and has been emailed to all seniors.
  • Senior Photos are due November 15th and need to be uploaded to the yearbook website directly. Please refer to the Senior Photos link/form for instructions. This form will be mailed home, linked in this email, and has been emailed to all seniors.
  • UPDATE: Homecoming Dance Tickets are now on sale outside of Student Services in the mornings before school and after school until 4pm. Tickets will NOT be sold during Lunch.
    They will be sold until Friday, September 13th and are $10 each.
  • MHS Picture Day: Sept. 9th starting @ 7am in the MHS Gym. Order forms are available at the Attendance Center.  Lifetouch Order form
  • Muskies Against Violence will be meeting Wednesday, September 11th in the Commons Area during Muskie Time. If you would like to make positive change please come to this meeting and see what it’s all about!”

  • On Tuesday, September 10, the Iowa Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in Muscatine, Iowa. The proceeding will take place in the Muscatine High School auditorium, 2705 Cedar Street. The oral arguments are open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m.
  • Seniors: Senior March forms are available at the Attendance Center for pick up! The march will take place around 11:30am on Friday, September 13th. Food from Subway is provided. Cost is $5 and permission slips must be turned in by Monday, September 9, 2018 at 3:30pm. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Walsh at Hope to see you there!

  • Key Club: The first Key Club meeting of the year will be Thursday, September 5th in Mrs. Rauenbuehler’s room (21-026) during Muskie Time.   • K-POP Club Meeting: The first K-Pop Club meeting will be at 3:40 pm on Thursday, September 5th in Mrs. Hovland’s room (11-023).  K-Pop Club Info
  • Homecoming Dance: Saturday, Sept. 14th, 8-11pm in the MHS Gym.  Tickets are $10 and will be sold the week of homecoming (9th-13th) before and after school in front of Student Services.
  • Model UN: For those interested in participating in Model UN or learning more about Model UN, we will have our kickoff meeting on Friday, September 6 during Enrichment in Ms. Hansen’s room (11-024). Bring your computer!
  • As a reminder, there are to be NO cellphones or headphones allowed during class time.
    Please leave your cellphone and headphone in your pocket or bag.
  • Breakfast starts at 7:30am and runs until 8:15am and is available in the Cafeteria or Library Cafeteria.

  • Homecoming Community Events:
    • Monday, Sept. 9th: Junior Girls vs Senior Girls Powder Puff Game: Sept. 9th, 7PM at the MHS Stadium. Entry fee is $5. Proceeds go to the World Wildlife Fund.

    • Thursday, Sept. 12th: Homecoming Coronation @ approx. 7:15pm- MHS Gym

  • Homecoming Dance Guest Forms: If you plan to bring a non-MHS guest to the Homecoming Dance on Sept. 14, please stop by the Assistant Principal’s office (Room 12-001) and pick up a permission form.  Homecoming Guest Permission Forms are due on or before Monday, September 9th. Guests must be approved before a ticket can be purchased.

** Silver Cord Opportunities/Volunteer Opportunities **

  • Babysitters needed during the Muskie Family Night in Grant school library on Sept. 5th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Games and activities provided. Please contact Leslie Bennett at 563-263-7005.
  • McKinley Elementary is looking for high school volunteers who would like Silver cord hours for our Muskie Family Night. Our Muskie Family Night is September 5th from 5-7pm. We are looking for babysitters. If you are interested please contact Joelle McConnaha 563-260-7122.

  • The MCSD Food & Nutrition Dept is looking for MHS students to help students at elementary schools with breakfast cards & getting through the serving lines any time from 7-8am during the 2019-2020 school year.
