Go Muskies!

• MUSCATINE MUSKIE FALL 2015 CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS
  Tryouts are Sunday, April 26th, in the afternoon, in the high school gym. There will be tryout practices on April 20th, 23rd, and 24th. For anymore information or questions, please contact Coach Sink at muskiecheercoach@gmail.com
• Muskie Pom Audition – If you are planning on auditioning for Muskie Poms, please email Muskie Pom Coach, Emily Shield @ muskiepomcoach@gmail.com in order to receive the audition routine via email/Dropbox. The video will be released Thursday evening. Remember to pick up an audition packet from the Attendance Office!
• Rescheduled Tennis Events:
  April 9/April 13 – MHS Boys Tennis vs. Burlington has been rescheduled for April 27 at Muscatine High School (4 p.m. start time). April 9 – MHS Girls Tennis vs. Burlington has been rescheduled for May 7 at Burlington (4 p.m. start time)
• Rescheduled Boys Soccer Event:
  April 14 – MHS Soph/Varsity Boys Soccer vs. Dav. Assumption has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 16. The games will be held at the Muscatine Soccer Complex. The sophomore game will start at 5:00 PM, with the varsity game to follow.
  Please note that the MHS Boys Soccer JV game on April 16 will be played as scheduled (vs. Dav. West @ the Muscatine Soccer Complex @ 5:00 PM).Rescheduled Girls Soccer Event:
  MHS Girls Soccer vs. Ft. Madison originally scheduled for Thurs., May 7 has been changed to Fri., May 8th. The varsity game will start at 5:00 p.m. at the Muscatine Soccer Complex (the JV game has been cancelled).
• Volleyball Open Gym – Starting Monday April 20^th and every Monday through May 25^th, there will be Volleyball Open Gym at the high school from 5-6:30 PM.  This is open for any interested volleyball players grades 9 through 12 at MHS.  If you have questions, please contact Coach Martin.
• The 2015-16 Student Council applications are now available. If you are interested in applying or have questions please see Mrs. Bobay in Room 205A. The packet is due by April 24.
• Parents, plan to support the Muskies by becoming a Muskie Booster Board member. Meet new people, have fun and show your Muskie spirit! • Summer Job Opportunities
  
  Miracle Car Wash is hiring students to wash cars after school, weekends and summer help. You must have a drivers license. Pay is $7.25 + bonuses.  Please contact Melissa Caliger @ 563-263-0406 if interested.

  Juniors & Seniors:  Senior Resources in Muscatine is looking for a summer intern. Senior Resources does home repair & renovation for elderly persons who are not capable of doing it themselves. The summer intern will be working under the guidance of a skilled trades person. No experience is needed. Previous wood shop or construction experience is helpful. Must have good attendance and be able to follow direction.   This is a paid position, 25 hours per week during the summer months. Hours are 8AM-1PM (Monday–Friday). Senior Resources is located on Mulberry Ave in Muscatine. Anyone interested in applying please contact Todd Poci at Senior Resources.

• MHS Drama Department presents The Addams Family – A New Musical!  Thursday, April 23 and Friday, 24 at 7 pm, and two shows on Saturday, April 25: 3 pm and 7:30 pm  All performances in the MHS Auditorium.  Ticket prices:  $8 adults, $6 students K-12 and $6 Senior (60+)

Central Middle School is looking for adult & student volunteers to help out with the following middle school track meets at MHS from 3:45pm – 7 pm.

Washington Elementary is looking for approximately 30 volunteers to help out with their Spring Carnival on Friday, April 24th from 5-8pm.  Volunteers will receive a free meal and silver cord hours for helping.  This is a great opportunity for leadership groups like NHS and Muskie Football groups who need community service hours.  Please contact Deb Ortiz by email if interested at debbie.ortiz@mcsdonline.org

 ** Scholarship Information **

• Quad Cities Illini Club Scholarship – $500 scholarship is available to a student from the Quad City area who begins at the University of Illinois in Fall of 2015. The 2015 scholarship is open to any graduating senior or community college student who will be attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Fall of 2015.  All applicants will be evaluated on the basis of need, community service, academic success, an message and other criteria. Due date is May 15, 2015.   Quad Cities Illini Club Scholarship  University of Illinois Alumni Application
• First District American Legion Glenwood Long Scholarship: $1,000 scholarship is available to a graduating senior who is a member, son, daughter, grandchild, brother, or sister to an American Legion or Auxiliary member.  The application is available in MHS Student Services. Due date is May 1, 2015.
• Children’s Cancer Connection: Scholarship values range from $500-$5,000. Applicant must be directly affected by childhood cancer and must plan to attend a 2 or 4 year university.  Application and other information are available in MHS Student Services.  Due date is May 29, 2015.
•  Nursing Schools Almanac Scholarship:  Nursing Schools Almanac is proud to announce our inaugural Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. We will award a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse who best demonstrates:

  Competition eligibility: This scholarship competition is open to all US high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs.
  Applicants must be in good academic standing and on track to graduate from high school at the conclusion of the 2014-15 academic year. Only one application entry is accepted per student.
  Important dates:
  June 30, 2015: Submission deadline for scholarship applications is 11:59pm PT.
  July 2015: Scholarship committee will meet to review all applications received.
  August 2015: Winner will be notified and $1,000 scholarship will be awarded.

• KWQC Broadcast Scholarship: (2) $1,000 scholarship awards are available to students who are accepted to a college and planning to enroll in broadcasting classes. Students must also reside in the KWQC viewing area.  Applications are available in MHS Student Services with a postmark due date of May 8, 2015.
• The Catholic Daughters Scholarship is available in the Student Service Office.  Deadline is April 17, 2015.

• Golf Scholarship opportunity:
• The Bright Scholars Award — please see attached document for more information. The Bright Scholars of Iowa

• Iowa Section PGA–Charlie Burkart Scholarship: $4,000 scholarship ($1,000 per year for 4 years). Application is available in MHS Student Services.  Due Date is 6/12/2015.
• ACACIA Leadership Scholarship for University of Iowa: Up to $2,000 scholarship available to any male high school graduate entering University of Iowa. Should show excellence in academics, extra curricular activities, and community involvement. Application is available in MHS Student Services. Due Date is 4/30/2015.
