Go Muskies!
- Reminder to all Senior girl athletes and their coaches to turn in reservations to the YMCA for the Senior Female Athletic Banquet before Friday, April 24th. If there are questions, contact the YMCA at 263-9996.
- MUSKIE MERCHANDISE SALE – Come get your Muskie gear at HALF PRICE during the MHS Track meet on Monday, April 27th 5pm until 7pm. The Muskie Booster club will be having a half price merchandise sale and you can take advantage of some great deals. $15 Sweatshirts and $7 T-Shirts. Ladies V Neck Tees $10, plus much more. Stop by the Sale tables and pick up your great deals.
- MHS Art Extravaganza sponsored by the MHS Art Club. It is free to attend and the public is invited! Thursday, April 23rd, 8:30AM-7PM held in the New Wing, 1st Floor Gallery Seating area. The Extravaganza will feature a display of student artwork, live demonstrations and artists at work, and handmade crafts and treats for sale. Vote for your favorite artwork … the winning artist will receive a basket of prizes from area businesses and art supplies!

MHS Show Choirs Fundraiser – Boonies on the Avenue – Tuesday, April 28th and May 12th. 10% of total sales from 5pm-close will be generously donated to the MHS Show Choir program. The money raised will allow us the additional funding needed for the various expenses incurred during our show choir season and to help our program grow. We hope to see you there!

Giles Joslyn Memorial STRINGFEST 2015 – Friday, May 1, 2015, 7PM – MHS Auditorium. Join us for a wonderful concert that will feature string players from around the Muscatine area. Admission: Adults $7, Students $5. Tickets sold at the door. All proceeds will go towards scholarships for private music instruction, instrument repairs, and purchase of new instruments.
- Drake Relays – Good luck to the boys and girls track team members that qualified to compete in the Drake Relays in Des Moines April 23-25.
- The 2015-16 Student Council applications are available. If you are interested in applying or have questions please see Mrs. Bobay in Room 205A. The packet is due by April 24.
- Boys Basketball Players: Anyone that is interested in playing basketball next year, there will be an informational meeting Monday, April 27 at 6:30PM in the Stan Howe Commons. Off season work will be discussed and calendars and registration forms will be passed out. If you cannot make this time, please see Coach Welsch in Student Services.
- Prom Specials are available at Paul Mitchell the School in Davenport. Specials include Up Style and Makeup Application for $25.00 by appointment only. 563-323-4700
- Junior & Senior Girls: Prom dresses are available to see and try. Stop by the Asst. Principal’s office to view dresses.
- MHS Drama Department presents The Addams Family – A New Musical! Thursday, April 23 and Friday, 24 at 7 pm, and two shows on Saturday, April 25: 3 pm and 7:30 pm All performances in the MHS Auditorium. Ticket prices: $8 adults, $6 students K-12 and $6 Senior (60+)
- Juniors & Seniors: CAPE tickets are available Tuesday, April 21 through May 1 during lunch by the Commons. CAPE tickets are FREE, however, a waiver needs to be signed. For those that are not familiar with CAPE, it is an event that takes place after Prom at MHS from 12-4Am with games, activities, prizes and food — all FREE!
- Juniors & Seniors: Prom tickets are on sale Tuesday, April 21 through May 1 before and after school in Mrs. Bobay’s Room – 205A, and during lunch by the Commons and on the 2nd Floor of the New Wing. Tickets are $20 each.
- All MHS Students – Posted outside Student Services are the ID #’s of the students who qualify for an Academic Award and / or Perfect Attendance Award. Please check the lists to see if you are on the appropriate list before April 24th. If you are not on a list and feel you should be, check with Mrs. Edkin in Student Services for Academic Awards or Mrs. Swails in the Assistant Principal’s office for Perfect Attendance questions.
- Qualifications for Academic Awards this year are as follows:
Sophomore who has 3 consecutive semesters of 3.0 GPA and above.
Junior who has 5 consecutive semesters of 3.0 GPA and above.
Senior who has 7 consecutive semesters of 3.0 GPA and above.
Students listed for “Perfect Attendance” will be invited to breakfast Thursday, May 7th @ 9:00 am in the Commons.
Students listed for “Academic Awards” should attend the Awards Assembly in the gym on Thursday, May 7th @ 10:10am. Parents are also invited to the Awards Assembly.
- MHS Soccer Work Day is this Sunday, April 26, from 1:30-4:30. All MHS Soccer Athletes are required to report to the MHS Commons at 12:45 on Sunday to receive his/her work assignments. A meal will be provided for all the athletes and coaches at 4:30, provided by the Soccer Booster Club. A handout with more information will be passed out to all athletes this week at practice. This event will be held rain or shine.
- Location Change – Girls Golf:
May 7 – MHS Girls Golf vs. Dav. North will be at Muscatine Muni (3:15 start time).
- Race for the Schools: Saturday, May 2, will be the 3rd Annual Muscatine Community School District Race For the Schools. Money raised goes directly back to every school in MCSD.
- The race offers a 5K & 10K at 8:00 A.M., and a 1 mile fun run at 9:00 A.M. Early registration is $20 (5K & 10K) and $12 (1 mile fun run). After April 23, fees rise to $25 & $15, respectively. Please join us in supporting a great cause! Race for the Schools Entry Form
- MUSCATINE MUSKIE FALL 2015 CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS
Tryouts are Sunday, April 26th, in the afternoon, in the high school gym. There will be tryout practices on April 20th, 23rd, and 24th. For anymore information or questions, please contact Coach Sink at muskiecheercoach@gmail.com
- Rescheduled Tennis Events:
April 9/April 13 – MHS Boys Tennis vs. Burlington has been rescheduled for April 27 at Muscatine High School (4 p.m. start time). April 9 – MHS Girls Tennis vs. Burlington has been rescheduled for May 7 at Burlington (4 p.m. start time)
- Rescheduled Girls Soccer Event:
MHS Girls Soccer vs. Ft. Madison originally scheduled for Thurs., May 7 has been changed to Fri., May 8th. The varsity game will start at 5:00 p.m. at the Muscatine Soccer Complex (the JV game has been cancelled).
- Volleyball Open Gym – Starting Monday April 20th and every Monday through May 25th, there will be Volleyball Open Gym at the high school from 5-6:30 PM. This is open for any interested volleyball players grades 9 through 12 at MHS. If you have questions, please contact Coach Martin.

** Volunteer / Silver Cord Hours **
There is a service project this Saturday, April 25 at Shady Creek Campground on Highway 22 from 8:30 until finished. Rain Date is April 26th at 1:00 pm. Volunteers will be building bluebird boxes and doing trail maintenance for the US Army Corps of Engineers. Lunch will be provided. If interested, please contact Georgia at georgiagerth@machlink.com.
Central Middle School is looking for adult & student volunteers to help out with the following middle school track meets at MHS from 3:45pm – 7 pm.

** Scholarship Information **
- Quad Cities Illini Club Scholarship – $500 scholarship is available to a student from the Quad City area who begins at the University of Illinois in Fall of 2015. The 2015 scholarship is open to any graduating senior or community college student who will be attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Fall of 2015. All applicants will be evaluated on the basis of need, community service, academic success, an message and other criteria. Due date is May 15, 2015. - First District American Legion Glenwood Long Scholarship: $1,000 scholarship is available to a graduating senior who is a member, son, daughter, grandchild, brother, or sister to an American Legion or Auxiliary member. The application is available in MHS Student Services. Due date is May 1, 2015.

Children’s Cancer Connection: Scholarship values range from $500-$5,000. Applicant must be directly affected by childhood cancer and must plan to attend a 2 or 4 year university. Application and other information are available in MHS Student Services. Due date is May 29, 2015.

Nursing Schools Almanac Scholarship: Nursing Schools Almanac is proud to announce our inaugural Aspiring Nurse Scholarship. We will award a $1,000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse who best demonstrates:
Competition eligibility: This scholarship competition is open to all US high school seniors who plan to pursue college education in nursing, including LPN / LVN, ADN, and BSN programs.
Applicants must be in good academic standing and on track to graduate from high school at the conclusion of the 2014-15 academic year. Only one application entry is accepted per student.
Important dates:
June 30, 2015: Submission deadline for scholarship applications is 11:59pm PT.
July 2015: Scholarship committee will meet to review all applications received.
August 2015: Winner will be notified and $1,000 scholarship will be awarded.

- KWQC Broadcast Scholarship: (2) $1,000 scholarship awards are available to students who are accepted to a college and planning to enroll in broadcasting classes. Students must also reside in the KWQC viewing area. Applications are available in MHS Student Services with a postmark due date of May 8, 2015.
- Iowa Section PGA–Charlie Burkart Scholarship: $4,000 scholarship ($1,000 per year for 4 years). Application is available in MHS Student Services. Due Date is 6/12/2015.
- ACACIA Leadership Scholarship for University of Iowa: Up to $2,000 scholarship available to any male high school graduate entering University of Iowa. Should show excellence in academics, extra curricular activities, and community involvement. Application is available in MHS Student Services. Due Date is 4/30/2015.
