Today is a GOLD Day!

Upcoming events and dates to remember:

Nov. 7 – 9 – Iowa Assessment Testing

Nov. 22 – 2 hour early dismissal

Nov. 23 & 24 – NO SCHOOL – Thanksgiving

West Middle School Families, we need your help!

All WMS students will be taking Iowa Assessments on November 7-9th.  It is helpful when students eat a nutritious snack before testing, allowing them to concentrate and maintain energy for the duration of the testing session. Please consider donating the following prepackaged items and supporting student success during this important week:

• Goldfish crackers
• Granola Bars
• Bags/Boxes of cereal
• Mini marshmallows
• Crackers (Cheese/PB)
• Trail Mix
• Pretzels
• Bottled water

We have 545 students and every donation will make a difference! These donations may be dropped off in the Main Office October 23 – November 6. Thank you for your support!

*Nut-free products will be available for students with nut allergies.

Do you like to sing? Do you like to Act? West and Central Middle School proudly present the musical Annie Jr. Auditions are open to any student 6-8th grade. Audition Materials may be found on the bulletin board by the choir and band room. Auditions will be held on Tuesday, November 7th in the choir room. Please go to www.muskiechoir.com , click on Musical Info and then click on the West Audition Time Sign Up button to sign up for an audition time. Students may audition at Central also if that would work out better. You must have a filled out permission form to be able to audition for the musical. Please join West Middle School in honoring the brave men and women who have served our country by attending our Veteran’s Assembly.  This year’s assembly will be held Friday, November 10 at 9:00 in our big gym.  Seating in chairs on the gym floor will be available for all visitors.  After the assembly all veterans  and their families are welcome to a reception in our library with cookies and beverages.  Students are encouraged to invite a veteran they know to join us for the assembly.  Students who bring a veteran will also be invited to attend the reception afterwards with their guest of honor.

Every student is encouraged to participate that day by wearing a specific color to help make our gym more patriotic:

6th grade- red

7th grade- white

8th grade- blue

We are doing something new this year.  If you don’t have your yearbook ordered by Winter Break you may not get another chance to order.  So…. If your parents did not pay for a yearbook at registration you need to bring your $16 to the main office and tell Ms. Dee you want a totally awesome yearbook to remember your 6th, 7th or 8th grade year at West Middle School.  If you aren’t sure if you already ordered a yearbook see Ms. Dee or Mr. Yerington and they can tell you.

For your convenience all athletic and activity events can now be found on the WMS calendar.  This one stop convenient calendar will make it easy for staff, students and parents to access dates and times for all activities. Just click on the “School Calendar” tab at the top right.

The Attendance Office has purple NIKE athletic bags for sale for $30.00. Stop by to take a look.
