Upcoming events and dates to remember:

Feb. 2 – NO SCHOOL – Teacher Inservice

ATTN: 8^th grade parents, there will be a Parent/Student information meeting on February 4^th 2015 in preparation for the course selection process fore the 2015-2016 school year. This meeting will cover two topics: Advanced Placement (AP) courses (6pm-7pm MHS Commons) and Parent/Student transition (7pm – 8pm MHS Auditorium).

Muscatine High School Counselors will begin the course selection process at the middle schools with parents and students starting the week of February 23^rd. Much of the information shared on February 4^th will be helpful in your student’s course selection process.

The Muscatine Community YMCA will be hosting a Middle School Friday Night- Pre-Superbowl Party on Friday, Jan. 30^th from 6-9pm. Tailgate snacks, play Madden 15 on the X-Box 360 and projection screen, football challenge games and crafts! The event is free for members and nonmembers. The Muscatine Community YMCA Middle School Dance on Saturday, Jan. 31^st has been cancelled due to equipment issues. The next dance will be Feb. 28^th!

Muscatine Winter Festival

We are holding our Winter Festival on January 31st out at the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course. From 2:00-3:00pm we are having a Snow Sculpture Contest and the first place prize is going to be a free pool party at the Aquatic Center. I just wanted to extend an invite to West Middle School if students and/or parents want to create a team!   Teams can have up to 10 people.

Lifetouch Spring pictures will be Tuesday, February 24 starting at 8:30am.

The Muscatine-Japan Youth Exchange will be hosting a Trivia Night again this year on Friday, February 6th at 6:30pm at the Iowa State Extension Office (on Isett Ave).  Tickets are $10 per person.  We will have food for sale, and a silent auction.  If you would like to reserve a spot contact Jessica Blanchard or Heather Runyon at WMS.
All money raised from this event will help us host Japanese students in Muscatine for a week this summer.

Stop by the main office for “2015 Summer Volleyball” registration forms. Deadline to register is May 1^st.

The orchestra program is selling Flower Cards again for $25.  This gets you a beautiful bouquet of flowers each month in 2015 from the Flower Gallery. They make excellent gifts!  Email or talk to Jessica if you would like to purchase one.  For each card sold the orchestra program receives $15 so this is what keeps our program funded!

For your convenience all athletic and activity events can now be found on the WMS calendar.  This one stop convenient calendar will make it easy for staff, students and parents to access dates and times for all activities. Just click on the “School Calendar” tab at the top right.

The Attendance Office has purple NIKE athletic bags for sale for $30.00. Stop by to take a look.
